My Grandmother had a large beautifully bound book of Hans Christian Anderson stories which I was allowed to have out of her glass fronted book case to read when I visited her.

Many stories come to mind, The Snow Queen, The Ugly Duckling, the very poignant Little Matchgirl, to mention a few.

The story that used to intrigue me the most was The Tinder Box - I read and enjoyed this story many times.

Goldilocks and the three Bears. This is because I have been bear crazy since receiving my first teddy ?.
I love the story of being able to enjoy a stranger's home and try out their food and beds. Imagine the reaction if you did do this for real.

The 3 little pigs, it's stayed with me to life, I now tell my grand children, it's a learning lesson, try until you find the best , and it will stay strong

My step sister used to make up stories about a monkey called Micky. He was a really naughty monkey and I was always begging her to tell me more of her imaginative stories at bed time. Such happy memories ?

The emperors new clothes, I thought it was so funny that the adults didn't make a comment on a naked emperor where a child just pointed out he was wearing no clothes

Lclaytonuk555 Mon 16-Sept-19 12:21:17

Red Riding Hood as I alway wanted a cape!

Jmack Mon 16-Sept-19 14:21:44

The Water Babies. I loved Tom the little chimney sweep. I think I always tried to live by the advice of Mrs. Doasyouwouldbedoneby. In fact I I actually used those words to my children. They still remember her name.
A lovely story with a very moral theme.

MamaCaz Mon 16-Sept-19 14:34:24

welshchrissy Mon 16-Sept-19 15:40:03

It has to be Cinderella. I had a big sister who was not ugly but I thought she was bossy , to win something she wanted especially a handsome prince was my dream at the time. Just to prove the underdog ie little sister can win sometimes

Beauty and the Beast. Beauty embodies everything that a human being might aspire to. She puts the wellbeing of others before her own, she can be trusted to keep a promise, and her compassion allows her to eventually see beyond the forbidding exterior of the beast and see other qualities that are more important than beauty.

giddyypixie Mon 16-Sept-19 17:36:23

I used to love a book called Bears in the Night...I would read it over and over and over again! I just never tired of it!
