The Three Little Pigs.
I loved this story. My mum always did different voices for all the different characters and we would both do the huffing and puffing the houses down.....Later I did exactly the same with my own kids and it became my sons favourite too.

The Ugly Duckling. Such a beautiful little tale.

I think because I have always been a lover of animals, Bambi hit a spot with me.

I did enjoy Cinderella also, especially when she was the belle of the ball.

The Little Match Girl made me cry then and now. When I read it to my Grandchildren I wasn’t expecting it to affect me and I ended up crying, and they cried with me. That wasn’t the intention of course but it’s so sad.

I also liked the Ugly Duckling, and the song by Danny Kaye and Snow White.

3 Billy Goats Gruff - clomp, clomp, clomp. Not really sure why.....the troll used to give me nightmares....

bumblebee Mon 16-Sept-19 19:51:50

'Jack & The Beanstalk' and 'Billy Goat Gruff'- reading or hearing the way the respective main characters cleverly fool the giant / troll was always so satisfying.

Cherylrov Mon 16-Sept-19 21:46:47

Goldilocks and the 3 bears as my dad used to tell it when dishing out the porridge in my early school years

anbo19 Tue 17-Sept-19 00:29:22

Hansel and Gretel - I was shocked by the poverty but admired the courage of the siblings.

crazyH Tue 17-Sept-19 01:19:41

Jack and the Beanstalk......I always and probably till today believe there's a giant creeper on which we could climb and reach up to the skies. It kept my imagination working throughout my childhood.

dragon123 Tue 17-Sept-19 06:38:08

Goldilocks and the 3 bears, I could relate to the naughty goldilocks as my older brother will verify!

obag Tue 17-Sept-19 09:47:01

I don't know if it really counts as a fairy story but I loved The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. My aunt had a heavy carved wardrobe in her bedroom and I dreamed of walking through the back to a magical land.

jadestar1958 Tue 17-Sept-19 11:42:29

Black beauty was so sad when ginger died

philatel Tue 17-Sept-19 12:25:53

The Ugly Duckling - the song seemed to be played a lot on the radio - which made it all the more special.

Greyduster Tue 17-Sept-19 12:35:54

Has to be “Hansel and Gretel”. A rather dark but very evocative story of good triumphing over evil, and of course I loved the idea of the house made of sweets that you could break pieces off and eat! Later in life I fell in love again, but this time with Humperdinck’s opera. Fabulous!

southernsun Tue 17-Sept-19 12:42:10

Three little pigs, I loved hearing this fairytale and looking at the pictures.

Kaggi60 Tue 17-Sept-19 12:48:35

Beauty and the Beast I have always think of my self a Beast even if I am not but people think I am.

Katyj Tue 17-Sept-19 13:08:16

Hansel and Gretal. A scary story, but the gingerbread house at the end made it all worthwhile.
