I would take them to the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. It's so beautiful and steeped in history, too.

I'd love to take them to Scotland to see the fishermen's paths along the river Tweed that I used to explore when I was little. Living in Kent they think Scotland is a foreign country!

I'd take my grandchildren to Cornwall by plane. They have never flown and for them to see a large sandy beach would be magical.

UK, stay here because I have never flown and am apprehensive. Granddaughter says there is lots to do in this country and she would like to visit Wales where I was born and Devon where I was brought up.

I'd take them to all the places their parents loved when they were children - the Sunday afternoon favourites. Then I'd take them to all the places I loved as a child and talk about what's stayed the same and what has changed.

Idlebones Sat 19-Oct-19 22:45:02

Somewhere in Africa to show them how families are struggling to survive with a lack of food and water. It would be an education albeit upsetting to realise how grateful they should be for all the privileges that are taken for granted,
