When they are teenagers I would take them to the Normandy beaches so that they can see and understand the incredible task we and The Allies were up against. It is so important that the next generation understand how and why war breaks out to ensure that we continue to live in peace with our neighbours.

With 5 grandchildren of differing ages and with differing likes and dislikes - would like to take them camping in France where I took their parents when they were young. We had such wonderful times. I used to send them out to walk round the campsite to see what was being cooked elsewhere. Our love of barbecued sardines was fostered there. Everything seemed so full of flavour and fresh. They would only be allowed to use cellphones for an hour a day (in my dreams!) and we would explore and enjoy the simple life!
