Postman’s Knock was a popular game at party’s when I was younger.
A party game in which a kiss is exchanged for a pretend letter! Lol used to cause a lot of embarrassment now leaves me with funny fond memories

Marbles .... we used to play on the street for hours - finding a small hole in the pavement and having to knock all the marbles into the hole to win your friends pile! I had tins full of them and you don't see them at all nowadays x

I was a gymnast when I was younger. I had an old mattress that was kept in a shed at the bottom of the garden. Whenever I had a new move to learn dad and I would drag the mattress into the garden. He would support me and help me learn the move. He was the first person to see me do the splits, somersault forwards and backwards and so many other moves. He was never pushy, always encouraging and proud when I accomplished something. I would love to have that relationship again. He died in 2014. I miss him everyday

I loved picking rose petals from the garden and making ‘perfume’ by steeping them in a little water. I can conjure up the scent even now! I would have been about 8 years old.

I remember making little gardens in tin lids lined with moss for grass and a mirror for the pond. I used twigs and cones for trees and flower heads pushed into the moss. I had a collection of small porcelain animals (I think they were called Whimsy) and the animals would inhabit my 'garden'.

I remember being at grandma's making the gardens and drawing and painting beneath a gas lamp which hissed constantly. I can hear it now.

Playing 'letterboxes' on the stairs with my friend Mandy. It involved each of us having a box with a list of names of the children in our school class. We would mark the register after calling out the names. We would each teach our imaginary pupils. Played for hours and hours. No idea why we called it 'letterboxes' though.

Venus Sun 01-Dec-19 17:18:35

I liked to juggle three balls up in the air and pretend I was a circus performer. Sometimes I used to hit them against the wall of our house.
