My DH is on the shielded list. Just wondering how many others there are on GN and how you are coping with staying in all the time.

BlueSky Sat 04-Apr-20 13:16:05

Marydoll never say never! smile

Marydoll Sat 04-Apr-20 13:24:53

BlueSky you are right, thanks! smile

This time last year I was lying in Coronary Care and thought I would never see my beloved Rome again.
I was wrong, I made it last September against all the odds. Who knows? Hope springs eternal, just like the Eternal City!

Carillion01 Sat 04-Apr-20 14:05:30

Marydoll, you never know. Sending love xxxxx

Doodle Sat 04-Apr-20 14:19:57

Well what a busy lot you all are.
cherry I knew from your post in the Kitchen yesterday that something was amiss. I am so sorry about your friend. It’s hard at the best of times but, as you say, when you can’t offer personal comfort it is really upsetting. Hope your friends daughter is ok.
newnanny I agree. You may well have been missed off the list.
I was just going to say the same thing as Bluesky Marydoll. We never know what’s going to happen. Though I agree insurance can be a big problem. Not that it’s an issue now as we can’t go anywhere but have you tried Saga insurance?
Hope your daughter is feeling better now gramaretto. They were lucky they managed to move before the housing market got shut down.
Hope your parcel was exciting eglantine ?
Oh dear bradfordlass I hope your DGS doesn’t get to chilly. Shame it’s not closer to the summer or you could cut off the legs and make them shorts ?
carillion I would like to learn watercolour painting too. Unfortunately, the talent fairy missed me completely ?‍♂️ ?
Hope you have a good weekend too x

nanaK54 Sat 04-Apr-20 14:20:03

Sending kindest thoughts and flowers to all that need them today.
Not a bad 'lockdown' day here, beautiful weather and a big garden make it more bearable

Grammaretto Sat 04-Apr-20 14:22:13

I hope you go again MaryDoll and what a lovely dream to have. I have just read, and I hope it isn't fake news, that the lock-down could be lifted as early as May if everyone obeys the rules now.

I was thinking about creativity in Lock-down. Mainly because I started to make bread this morning but the flour and yeast are too old so it isn't rising. I could make soda bread. I have a yearning for nice bread or any bread.

Callistemon Sat 04-Apr-20 14:25:36

I've had a letter at last.

12 weeks lockdown. How much will the DGC grow in that time?

Marydoll Sat 04-Apr-20 14:26:45

Doodle, I'm with Saga and they have been great. No-one else will insure me anymore. sad. You always knew I was a troublemaker! grin

Eglantine21 Sat 04-Apr-20 14:49:57

Ha! My parcel was kitchen roll. I was hoping for the chocolates ?

Grammaretto Sat 04-Apr-20 14:53:39

Same here. this morning. Callistemon
We will really be able to say Look how you've grown!! I hope they don't say the same back to us. wink

I sometimes think about my gt grandmother who left England for NZ at the age of 24, on a sailing ship for a new life. That journey lasted 4 months. She never came back or ever saw her parents or siblings again, but her DGS did which is why I came to be here and not there. That's life eh?

Doodle Sat 04-Apr-20 21:47:55

Oh eglantine a bit of a disappointment but then only last week people were fighting in the isles for kitchen roll so you were lucky to get some ?
callistemon an official welcome to the gang. Yes 12 weeks is a long time. I’m trying not to think about it just taking each day at a time. My problem is I keep thinking that every day is the weekend as everyone is home.?
Yes Saga are good. DH is a troublesome character for insurance too Marydoll. Our doctor refers to him as bionic man as so many bits have had to be repaired or treated ?

NanaandGrampy Sat 04-Apr-20 21:57:17

Yes Doodle we are.

I see no point in doing half and half, we won’t/ don’t social distance at home so for Grampy to go out means we have 7 days wait to see if he brought back more than the shopping.

It’s not worth dying for a loaf of bread. We manage.

Callistemon Sat 04-Apr-20 22:02:55

Grammaretto I must stop baking!

Grammaretto Sun 05-Apr-20 05:49:48

Callistemon we must keep our strength up.grin

BradfordLass73 Sun 05-Apr-20 05:50:46

I decided to put my Lockdown Diaries online as a blog.
I won't impose them on anyone but if you'd like to read them, please PM me and I'll send you a link.

Call from my son today says everyone in his little fortress is well but for the poor pregnant girl who has day-long 'morning' sickness.
A small blessing she doesn't have to to go work but can stay in bed and be pampered by her loving parner. smile

Grammaretto Sun 05-Apr-20 06:12:04

I'll pm you BradfordLass smile

GagaJo Sun 05-Apr-20 09:14:46

Hope for her sake she doesn't have hyperemesis gravidarum BradfordLass. Awful at any time, but especially now. If she gets to the point where she can't keep water down, medical help is essential. My daughter was starting to go into organ failure with it and had to be hospitalised. Lasted until she gave birth.

Daisymae Sun 05-Apr-20 09:27:33

My husband is vulnerable so he is in but I am walking the dog. I have also been busy starting the garden up with raised beds and salad/veg. I hurt myself yesterday lugging bags of compost about so will be more careful. Really can't afford for me to be out of action.

Callistemon Sun 05-Apr-20 09:52:50

I will just say one word Daisymae
Wheelbarrow!
smile

nanaK54 Sun 05-Apr-20 10:15:20

Good morning to all in the 'lockdown gang', another beautiful day here, perhaps I should get dressed and get outside in the garden, finding it hard to get motivated today

NanaandGrampy Sun 05-Apr-20 10:23:24

I’m blogging too Bradfordgirl , I share them with my family and it keeps us in touch and even raises a laugh sometimes !

Let’s out what I’m feeling too rather than bottling it all up !

CherryCezzy Sun 05-Apr-20 10:30:02

Big thank you for your supportive messages yesterday fellow Gang members ?
In the end I had a relatively cheery day yesterday, I will take the positives out of it. They day passed by with long distance chats and some very silly text messages back and forth ?
Today started out full of spring promise, fair weather cloud, warm and with a pleasant spring breeze ? but it has clouded over - drat ?. Not necessarily the kind of day to sit pleasantly in the garden but I will get some air.
Even on a cloudy day there is vitamin D out there ?
I shall content myself embroiled in domestic bliss activities for some of the rest of the time. I'm hoping for a longer release from captivity ? next week to have a good roam in the prison gardens ?. They are coming along a treat, the rhebus is flowering, as are the plum and pear ? s and the rosemary. There is such beauty in nature it never fails to lift the spirits. If I have more time out tomorrow I will take my camera with me to see what I can capture.

Grammaretto Sun 05-Apr-20 10:41:55

Daisymae you be careful. That's an order!!

It isn't hot here or even warm but after online church, and lunch, I will potter outside if there's any time left.

I've been watching DGD open her birthday present from us. She liked the sunflower seeds the best.

I suffered from morning sickness each time but by the 4th month it had got much better. I continued the habit of a cup of tea and a rich tea biscuit before getting out of bed.

Alishka Sun 05-Apr-20 10:44:41

Hello everyone! Please may I join you? I had my Letter of Doom on the 25th,with strict instructions to stay indoors for 12 weeks so it would be lovely to natter to you all and, Marydoll, when I'm back online, do you want to hear about my civil wedding in Rome?
Just now, tho, time to do 'things'. Talking about getting motivated, nanaK54...snap!smile

Mamissimo Sun 05-Apr-20 11:02:53

The excitement is mounting here.......my ‘hole’ as Doodle describes it, now has a liner and a pump. I shall spend the day washing my rock collection and by tonight I may, after a wait of 25 years, have my patience rewarded - and if not I shall visit the kitchen and borrow the leg of lamb!
