Lockdown has worked because, against all expectation, there turned out to be many more Accepters and Sufferers than Resisters (the three pandemic personalities identified by King’s College), in the Uk

From an article in the Spectator
Which group would you put yourself in?

Acceptor and while I fit in the 55-75 age group, I neither voted conservative or for brexit

Nannapat1 Sun 03-May-20 10:58:36

Outwardly accepting but inwardly often suffering and sometimes feeling resistant. Certainly not enjoying as some folk here seem to be.

Acceptor and really loving it, though I wish I could get my hair cut. Also page 1. Annecan, I am not a Tory voter and hate leaving the EU, also 73, so I don't fit into the thinking.

Accepter... mostly as in what ever: missing friends and family but doing lots arty crafts/gardening etc
But also a bit of a Sufferer as losing income while we are in lock down - not sure if i'll recover if it takes much longer.. Mostly " carpa diem" though!

Acceptor,I want this to be over but keeping safe is my priority

leeds22 Sun 03-May-20 11:07:18

Accepter. But could be getting a bit bored with it.

JaneRn Sun 03-May-20 11:11:18

Life-long Conservative and definitely pro-Brexit but what on earth does that have anything to do with the question?
For the record, I am an Acceptor. Life is precious, enjoy it because the alternative is not good!

Accepter. I have always read history, and gradually came to embrace the philosophy of the Plantagenets: 'It is as it is'. There has been some mild 'suffering', or cabin fever, but a walk for half an hour has usually fixed that - and as we can be sure, this will end.
The Queen said so!!

I’m an acceptor.. but am also a sufferer. I’m missing my family and becoming depressed with it all. I’m also resentful.. my elderly neighbours are having family over, seeing grandchildren.. though are happy to receive the government food box for shielding !

TrendyNannie6 Sun 03-May-20 11:12:30

Acceptor, and very glad to still be here, appreciate every single day, so many aren’t

Annaram1 Sun 03-May-20 11:12:56

Unfortunately regardless of whether or not we are acceptors or sufferers or resistors Britain still has the worst record of any in Europe for covid 19 deaths (apart from Italy). Obviously some people are not obeying the rules.

Chickenfeet Sun 03-May-20 11:17:22

I am 72,accepter,voted for Brexit but never conservative

ja26 Sun 03-May-20 11:19:37

Accepter, of course miss my children and grandchildren but finding gardening jobs therapeutic and walking 4 km every day is something I never did. My DH is in a care home so unable to visit him but when I’m in the garden I’m always thinking what DH would have done and that spurs me on.

Accepter but hating my loss of freedom to go where I want.

icanhandthemback Sun 03-May-20 11:26:02

I'm an accepter and think it is hilarious that people feel they need to state that they aren't Brexiteers or Conservative voters. Is there a suggestion that you have to be of a certain political persuasion to be an accepter in order to take public health seriously? grin

Oldbat1 Sun 03-May-20 11:29:21

Accepter.

jct1 Sun 03-May-20 11:30:21

Accepter. It is what it is and we have to face that. I worry that lockdown will be lifted too soon and we'll be back where we started. Stop moaning and make the best of the peace and quiet!

25Avalon Sun 03-May-20 11:31:04

Quite so icanhandthemback. This is nothing to do with politics. I am an acceptor because I want to do what’s best to defeat this terrible virus which doesn’t care what you are.

Oopsminty Sun 03-May-20 11:31:22

The older you are the more likely you are an accepter

Had this happened when I was in my early 20's I'd have been very unhappy indeed

luluaugust Sun 03-May-20 11:31:53

90% Accepter, 5% Resister, 5% haven't a clue which day of the week it is. Refuse to discuss Brexit ever again - I think.

luluaugust Sun 03-May-20 11:33:10

Acceptor, obviously lost the ability to spell as well

crazyH Sun 03-May-20 11:35:19

Accepter and I actually like it. It's got me doing things i've postponed. I like having so much 'ME' time, do exactly as I please, stay in pyjamas all day, if I want, house can stay messy because there's no visitors .....basically, it's nice to just be a nonconformist SLOB ?

Oopsminty Sun 03-May-20 11:35:24

Acceptor, obviously lost the ability to spell as well

You and me both!

sarahellenwhitney Sun 03-May-20 11:36:20

Most definitely a Sufferer. Having had confirmation in February that long awaited exterior NOT interior work on my property was to be carried out in mid April I was disappointed when the contractor advised he could not carry out this work, due to 'government rules of distancing'.
Am I unreasonable in thinking this is OUTSIDE work with outside water and toilet facilities I will have no need to have any contact with the contractor so why cannot he get on with the job which only involves the contractor and his son and what happened to ''only IF your work cannot be carried out at home ?

Keffie12 Sun 03-May-20 11:39:15

@Annecan to throw a spanner in the works I am 58, hate the Tories and I am a #hardremainer ? I know theres always one ?

I'm an accepter, mainly: I have just a couple of small temper tantrums which go along the lines of "Being bleep bleep told what to do by Boris bleeping Johnson" defiance ?

Generally an accepter though. Miss our grandchildren, grumble when I will next get to the hairdressers however just getting on with it.

I am computer savvy which has made my life easier as contact with all and my fellowships is Zoom platform and online

I Facetime wittlh the grandchildren too, every other day
