Well I clearly only know what we’ve all been told, but I respect your point of view totally. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but I suppose I believed him. Maybe I am being led by the nose, you could be right, but as I said, having lived 240 miles away from all sources of help when we were young marrieds with young children, I can see this type of situation from both sides.
When I had severe problems with my third pregnancy, my husband and I made arrangements for our two very little boys to go to stay with my sister who lived over two hundred miles away. In the end it wasn’t required, I was induced six weeks early in order to treat the baby in the ICU.

One really interesting thing regarding Cummings.

He succeeded via Brexit it totally divide the country.

Now he appears to be totally uniting the country.

For crying out loud; my adult son has autism. He has been climbing the walls since he hasn't been able to go out and about . Usually he he is a very busy individual and hates being confined so it is sheer hell for him; BUT he understands that there are rules to be followed and that there are penalties if those rules are broken.
I'm sorry if Dominic Cummings has a son with autism , I know how challenging it is bringing up a child whose thought processes are significantly different but it's no excuse for breaking a rule/recommendation when lives are being put at risk.
At the end of the day it is his job to bring his differently abled child up to get on well in society , and that includes saying no to them and doing difficult things. He is not setting a good example.

There are members here who have taken it on board as truth.

We all make these kinds of arrangements for our children when they are young; we appointed guardians for ours in our wills.
However, that is a long-term arrangement. In an emergency and with an infectious disease such as this around, you would call on a relative who lives around the corner, surely? What f they had both been hospitalised in an emergency? If you are lucky enough to have a sister nearby, surely she would be on standby?

Just as I thought Callistemon, if it had been true we would all have known it by now. Fake news, as Donald would say?

DC has still made numerous errors which he will never admitt to and it beggars believe why he felt the need to do what he did in the first place. There's is no way they would travel all that way without a toilet break for a child. When he went to the castle it was his wife's birthday but he went just to check he was well enough to drive. I want to make clear that the following comments have nothing to do with politics or a witch hunt.
So many of us followed the rules and didn't adjust them to suit ourselves.

CUMMINGS THOUGHT HE MIGHT BE COMING DOWN WITH COVID - the public service announcements still being broadcast, specifically state: "Do not leave home if you or anyone in your household has symptoms."

He could have asked for help in his situation.

He could have asked for a Government car to come and collect him from County Durham.

He could have tested his eyesight by driving round the family farm. If his eyesight was suspect why put his family and members of the public at risk, by making a round trip of 60 miles on public roads?

We all want to look after our families - that's why we followed the rules and not our instincts!!

I think he acted reasonably, taking account of all the circumstances.

He used govt guidelines and interpreted them to mean that he could travel so that his son could be looked after should he and his wife become ill with CV.

He was questioned by the Police who did not issue a fine.

He made an essential journey to test out his eyesight in advance of long drive back to London. Seems reasonable enough to me.

And still nobody queries why he had to potentially dangerously test his eyesight out by driving a round trip of 60 miles to a beauty spot, but more, why could his wife not drive them back? She was totally recovered and is an experienced driver who drove daily in the USA. And the i35 is a lot busier than the A1, especially during lock down.

Jishere, thanks for that. I am used to his funny little ways now (!) . I don't think I am worse off than others; we all have problems/issues but I am just mad that some people think it's ok to re-write the rules just for them.
