How many people do you know........

...who actually have, or had, Covid19? Not just people who say they’re ‘ sure they had it’, but definite cases. I only know of two, one who contracted it in hospital following admission for a broken hip, and another who died in a care home.

Please try not to drift ‘ off topic’, as I’m really interested to hear your answers to the question.

My daughter caught it from a pupil whose mother was an A&E nurse. Confirmed by testing, eventually. Her two children were asymptomatic but tested positive. Her husband, a young fit man in his 50s, ended up in hospital with breathing difficulties and is still weakened by this two weeks later.

A young friend caught it at the very start of the epidemic and is still wheezing. She passed it on to her grandfather, before lockdown and before her symptoms and he died.

That should be 40s

My friend’s mum caught it in a care home and was admitted to the Nightingale in Manchester. Came out a week later fully recovered.

My best friend had coronavirus and was very poorly, but no serious underlying medical conditions. She is a widow and her family lives in Cornwall and midlands, and only has a sister with disabled husband. She had FaceTime calls from her doctor and battled through! It’s nearly 2 months since she was poorly but is still not 100%. Incidently she works part time at a doctors surgery......mmmmmm

My brother, who was ill for weeks. My SiL, who caught it from him but had it more mildly. The headmaster at my school, who despite being older and in an at risk group (health issues) had a VERY mild dose. One of my students (that I've been in contact with, but I've tested negative since then).

Most tragically, the husband of a young friend. He was 30. They have a 2 year old and my friend is pregnant. Husband died last week. Awful, awful situation.

3. My daughter who 12 weeks on is still in recovery. My nephew who spent weeks in hospital, now well on the mend. A friend who works in an hospital pharmacy, a mild dose.

All thankfully have come through it.

6. One friend in his 80s died.
Nephew, a paramedic had it early on and so did his wife.
3 further friends, 2 are doctors, one a nurse. A couple of them were pretty ill but none hospitalised. All 5 working again.

A neighbour (mid 40s) with a severely disabled son was taken to hospital and tested positive. She returned home the next day and one week later was chatting to us from her garden.
I believe she was taken in because of her caring duties to protect the child but not deemed ill enough to be kept in.
Nobody else in the family of 5 showed symptoms.

Me tested positive but thankfully was only mild, although im still suffering from extreme tiredness and a cough and a friend in a different part of the country is waiting tests results, and has been for over 8 days

Grannygrumps1 Mon 22-Jun-20 09:58:25

My friend who is very high up in the nhs. Has just had an antibody test come back as positive. I’m sure she got it from me. I’m waiting for my test results.

My husband and I had it back in March. It wasn’t the normal symptoms either so our GP said it was gastroenteritis and indigestion. But I didn’t get to 69 without knowing a bit about my body especially when 2 different viral rashes arrived.
Anyway last week too Abbott’s antibody test which came back Positive, so now we are hopefully immune but still being careful. I sent test results to GP to update her list of symptoms.

Father of son's friend - 80ish with dementia in care home.
This has all been over blown imo.

Craftycat Mon 22-Jun-20 10:02:18

None.
I have not even heard of anyone that friends or family know either.

Oopsminty Mon 22-Jun-20 10:02:52

My NHS niece tested positive but had very mild symptoms

We know two people who have died.

Husband's sister in law and a father of one of my son's friends.

Both got the virus whilst in hospital with other ailments

Rose30 Mon 22-Jun-20 10:03:56

None - I live in the South West and used to visit The Bath Royal United Hospital with my PAT dog. They have had around 100 Covid patients in total
so not severely affected at all.
I know of a few people indirectly - mostly friends of my children who are in their 30s. No deaths. I've "attended" 3 funerals during lockdown - all died of other causes aged 68-101.

Nannapat1 Mon 22-Jun-20 10:05:28

10, all early on:
DD1, her partner and his family. His grandmother died first day of lockdown in hospital, none of the others were hospitalised.
My niece and her husband, not hospitalised. Now tested positive for antibodies.
My DH's work colleague, not hospitalised but paid for a test.
All Essex or adjoining Greater London.

annab275 Mon 22-Jun-20 10:05:39

My step son had the symptoms in February - he is a NHS physio, but wasn't tested. He has been tested recently and has antibodies. My friend returned from Spain in March and was very ill a few days later and nearly died of pneumonia in hospital. She tested negative for the virus but had all the symptoms. Maybe it was a dodgy test.

DaisyL Mon 22-Jun-20 10:06:58

3 - one in her 80s with dementia and many underlying health problems who died. The two others both survived and are doing OK both have underlying major health issues - one 87 the other 52 - and both caught it in hospital.

travelsafar Mon 22-Jun-20 10:07:46

My son's father in law died beginning of April sadly. He had underlying issues and was mixed race. I now have a good friend being tested, waiting to hear her results, so worried for her.

I'm in the North East....two of my son's colleagues have recently died, both diagnosed.
I know of 2 people both quite fit and healthy who came down with it - one of them the partner of a nurse, thankfully recovered.
In my home area, the North West, 7 people....3 sadly died.
