...who actually have, or had, Covid19? Not just people who say they’re ‘ sure they had it’, but definite cases. I only know of two, one who contracted it in hospital following admission for a broken hip, and another who died in a care home.

Please try not to drift ‘ off topic’, as I’m really interested to hear your answers to the question.

One, who lives in London. Round here (Gloucestershire) there's a very low incidence. I do think that they could allow local variation in the rules for emergence from lockdown; there's really no reason why our hospitality venues shouldn't be open now.

Myself and my husband have definitely had it, I’ve had an antibody test which came back positive.
We had it at the end of March, my husband was very poorly with an extreme headache and temperature for about 5 days, then a slow recovery with a lot of tiredness. He has asthma and was slightly short of breath but thankfully nothing more serious than that. I had a much milder version, very tired, a slight cough and nasal congestion (but not a cold type congestion, no mucus just congested) and lost sense of smell and taste for about 10 days.
I wish we had more information on exactly what having the antibodies means.

I don’t actually know of any personally, but neighbour knows of 7

0 locally. Friends of family living 60 miles away: daughter took temporary work in care home, became infected but very slight symptoms, passed it to her father who was poorly for a month (not warranting hospital treatment) whilst mother tested negative and has remained well. Friend 50 miles away and who I have only chatted to on phone returned from skiing trip, all her travel companions went down with symptoms, as did her next door neighbour so she paid for antibody test and she’d had it without symptoms.

I had this conversation a couple of days ago with OH. I said I knew about 8 people and was told about several more (relatives of friends) - but they were all when it wasn't so easy to get a test, so although they all had symptoms of varying severity (one still hasn't got his sense of taste back) - none were actually tested.
So OH said "That's none then"

4 people. One nurse, lives directly opposite me. One care worker and her parents. All recovered, although the nurse -who is in her forties - was ill for five weeks. We’re on the south coast.

Good God GagaJo! How dreadful! That explains why you were isolating and so fearful!

OpenUniversity2017 Mon 22-Jun-20 10:58:11

I, for definite. My mum, living in a care home, tested positive for the virus. Three days after the test result she passed away.

Blossoming Mon 22-Jun-20 10:59:03

None, at the moment.

HurdyGurdy Mon 22-Jun-20 10:59:15

Two. A work colleague who was so ill, but not bad enough to be hospitalised.

And a friend, who, worryingly, works in a care home, who tested positive, but had zero symptoms

SparklyGrandma Mon 22-Jun-20 11:04:27

In my town, I know of 5 cases, 6 including me. 2 friends of mine have had it, one mild one not.

There are more cases but I don’t know them.

My ex-brother-in-law recently died as a result of Covid-19, and I have a pupil in my bubble at school whose Grandma has recently been diagnosed.

lostinfrance Mon 22-Jun-20 11:15:14

None.

Petalpop Mon 22-Jun-20 11:20:40

My cousin's sister in law in Northern Ireland.. Went into hospital for an un related illness and unfortantly died. A friend of my DS their whole family caught it and have all since recovered.

Dyffryn Mon 22-Jun-20 11:22:01

My daughter and her husband had it and had to look after themselves and my two granddaughters who were also ill by themselves. I was a very worrying time.

silverlining48 Mon 22-Jun-20 11:25:01

I felt very poorly end Feb and was in bed fir 10 days but have no clue whether it was regular flu or covid. I have heard many people saying they have had it without any tests to confirm or deny.
We are in south east close to London, a couple of dh ex colleagues have died and one was close to it but pulled through. He was very fit but is left with many problems, heart lungs and kidney functions and has a long rehabilitation still ahead.
The real thing is not a walk in the park which is why I was surprised that BJ came out of intensive care and was back within a few days, but suppose that’s for another thread.

Theoddbird Mon 22-Jun-20 11:27:48

3....nowhere close. I live in a very rural area

Froglady Mon 22-Jun-20 11:28:50

Just one person who was diagnosed with it and recovered all right.

Minerva Mon 22-Jun-20 11:35:09

I only know of one confirmed case. He had it early in March for about 4 days, seemed to be getting better and was found dead in bed from cardiac arrest due to anoxia. He was a fit 39 year old and his family, none of whom showed any symptoms, are devastated still. He only went out to shop.
People seem to think only the elderly get it and they are safe to go on marches and rallies and to parties but they aren’t.

EMMF1948 Mon 22-Jun-20 11:39:14

None diagnosed but I thionk that the reality is that we'll never know true figures. There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that it was in society earlier, than thought, many people has severe chest problems late last year and early on this year.
Personally I know of a couple of people who have had it, part of the same social group.

rowanflower0 Mon 22-Jun-20 11:39:18

I have a friend who had it early on, but wasn't tested as there were no tests available then, she caught it from her son in Brighton, (no restrictions then either) who was tested, he and his partner had it, she was very ill but recovered, though still gets very breathless just gardening or mounting the stairs quickly. My sister is very ill, currently, displaying lots of symptoms, after a visit to A & E at the George Elliott Hospital , Nuneaton, which had 50 cases last week, her doctor arranged a home testing kit to be sent, and a negative result was sent back, though neither my sister nor her doctor accept this.

Pittcity Mon 22-Jun-20 11:41:02

One, who caught it while in hospital for something unrelated.

cupcake1 Mon 22-Jun-20 11:44:59

A neighbour of ours had it, was hospitalised but thankfully recovered. He’s in his early sixties. I think my DH and I had it mine started with a persistent dry cough new years day when we were in Adelaide later my DH caught it from me. I’d love to have the antibody test to prove or disprove it.

Hellis Mon 22-Jun-20 11:46:06

I know of at least 30 in the care home where my daughter works. She didn't get it but 8 carers did, all recovered but unfortunately 14 of the residents didnt. This was before they tested people being sent home from hospital

Dorsetcupcake61 Mon 22-Jun-20 11:47:09

My 25 year old daughter became very I'll with a chest infection at the beginning of March. Antibiotics didnt seem to help much and for a few days her breathing was terrible, far in excess of anything due to a chest infection. Her fiance whom she lives with had a temperature for a few days but otherwise fine. Daughter works in a care home.
Personally I know 20 people who have died. I work in a care home but havent been there since mid March and as I'm high risk dont know when or even if I will return there.
It's quite scary to read on this thread about the randomness of this virus other than expected occupations.
