...who actually have, or had, Covid19? Not just people who say they’re ‘ sure they had it’, but definite cases. I only know of two, one who contracted it in hospital following admission for a broken hip, and another who died in a care home.

Please try not to drift ‘ off topic’, as I’m really interested to hear your answers to the question.

Someone I used to work for died from it. He was very overweight. A real gentle giant of a man.

A doctor friend (GP). She recovered from the acute phase quickly, but the tiredness and general malaise dragged on for weeks. My 50 year old very athletic nephew had it very badly. He was in hospital on oxygen. Both lungs were badly affected and he had multiple small clots in both lungs. He caught it early in the pandemic, is still struggling and will be on warfarin for a while yet. He also developed those frostbite like lesions on his toes, which seem to affect a few people.

Only one - a good friend of mine who caught it when she visited her mum who was in hospital & dying. She had gone in intially because she had had a fall - been moved into 3 different wards & became very ill
It was only after she had died that they tested her. My friend must have contracted it from when she went in to see her mum for the very last time
It meant that she was unable to go to the funeral...very sad

Four people from my small town. A friend who is a nurse, in her sixties, caught it from the hospital she works in and wasn’t well for about three days. However, she passed it on to her husband (mid sixties) who was ill in hospital with it for two weeks. Thank goodness he just avoided being put on a ventilator but he said it was one of the worst and most frightening things he has experienced. It still makes him tired and breathless about 2 months later.

One friend aged 80 (a retired doctor) has died. Of the other people who think they've had it, none has been tested, so I don't know.

Lucy127 Mon 22-Jun-20 12:10:47

One. My best friend died of it in hospital.

An interesting question Daddima

Just one who lives a long way from us. I know nobody who's had it in our local area - we're in a very rural part of the Welsh Marches

I know 2. My sister who works in Cardiology, her whole department have had it now. The second is the builder that has been doing work for us, he is a diabetic and the death rate for those with diabetes is very high. We didn't see him for about 5 weeks but sent messages that we hoped he was OK and if he needed food dropping off etc. When we did see him again the change was huge, dramatic weight loss and his hair had gone snow white - it was quite shocking. He said he prayed to die it was that bad.

No one close but daughters (30's) of two friends and two more related to more distant contacts, one died in 80's and longterm carehome resident. My own daughter said she had the loss of taste and her flatmate had the blue toe symptom. She applied for an antibodies test but money was refunded as test deemed not good enough.

I was told of the son of some mutual acquaintances, the son whom i knew slightly, (they were neighbours of my ex M in L) died from it he must have been late 40's? My daughter sent me a news clip email, they say it was definitely known cases in milan back in october so she said im very probably right when i thought i had it when id been to italy in oct/nov last year. What i really need is the antibody test...hmm

I know a nurse, who had it mildly, passed it to husband, he had it milder still, two children in the household- one a baby-didn't get it all!

Nanoo15 Mon 22-Jun-20 12:25:44

One, an elderly lady with dementia. Very interesting question.

Glenfinnan Mon 22-Jun-20 12:26:34

We both had the virus in early March. Husband was extremely ill. Took us about 7=8 weeks to recover

brawlass Mon 22-Jun-20 12:28:00

No one I know Scottish Borders.

fiorentina51 Mon 22-Jun-20 12:28:54

My friend's daughter (a nurse) has tested positive, she's the only confirmed case I know of personally. In our local area there have been 250 confirmed cases out of a total population of more than 101,000.

LittleMissGrumpy Mon 22-Jun-20 12:38:39

None whatsoever - I live in the NorthWest.

My brother died early in March - aged 71 (South Wales) - very sudden decline and deterioration - ambulance called late Sunday evening - he was ventilated on Monday - full life support and placed into an induced coma - sadly a clinical decision had to be made on the following Saturday to switch off all support as I was told that the severity of infection was “unsurvivable”. He was a kind, funny, hardworking and gentle man and my best friend. We were unable to hold a funeral at that time and have still not been informed of when we can collect his ashes. Needless to say our family are planning to hold a remembrance get-together in celebration of his life one this “madness” is over (hopefully) ......

So lots had symptoms but not a lot of testing when it was needed- bloody gov't! Not even giving it to NHS workers when it was needed at 'beginning' either let alone mere mortals like us!! Bloody Boris got one though, and all that guff of showing he was in a normal NHS hospital- he most probably had a private room/wing though, and he thanked his nurses, yes, but he had probably hired those privately too, has he seemed to have had just those 2 throughout his stay, in NHS wouldn't they rotate with different ones?Still one rule for them, one for everyone else.angry

ALANaV Mon 22-Jun-20 12:52:20

Ngaio1 Mon 22-Jun-20 12:53:27
