Did this really happen or have I fallen down the rabbit hole?

suziewoozie Mon 05-Oct-20 15:52:06

That was to Lucca

I am an American. I believe Trump drove by to reassure citizens that he is not that bad. He has also spoken from within the hospital to demonstrate the same. Does he do things over the top—Yes. He always has even before being president. His hotels look like European palaces.

Lucca please don’t put words into my mouth. Where did I employ the term “liberal leftie?” Your choice of words I think. This entire conversation is quite pointless. Nobody is going to change their opinion one way or the other, and I, for one, have no intention of spending my time bandying insults. You’re welcome to do it suziewoozie but not with me.

Words fail me - how anyone can defend Trump's latest shenanigans just amazes me. The man has completely lost the plot.

roachwoman Thank you for your post also. I am an American citizen (British born). If the progressive Democrats get into power, this country will implode.

That's highly doubtful. It's scaremongering.

Wow. Such vitriol! I’m an American and I would never say such things about the leader of your country. You are free to say what you like, to be sure, but this is how you treat those who think differently? I guess I’ll just chalk it up to the typical liberal left.

Say what you like about the leader of the UK! I'm sure we can take it. We have free speech in the UK.

This morning very early I put google news on and the headline was, Trump leaves hospital saying I feel better than ever.
Even as I glanced it disappeared, I have spent a few hours doubting my sanity.
At last it is explained, what a pathetically stupid man he is.

I can live with that - the difference is that most of us don’t have to chive our minds because we see Trump for what he is.

suziewoozie Mon 05-Oct-20 16:08:12

Chive = change ?

MawB2 Mon 05-Oct-20 16:08:23

One side effect of Covid 19 seems to be that Trump’s hair has changed from yellow to lilac rinse and his orange skin tone has washed off . shock
Serious consequence- how can he recover from this?

Tweedle24 Mon 05-Oct-20 16:09:54

Bluebelle In some of the clips he was doing a Queen Mother wave.

What staggers me more than anything is that, despite his complete disregard for the safety of the staff around him (those poor bodyguards in the car with him), is that people will still vote for him.

I can’t get over that silly comment he made, “I get it. I understand it.” after a couple of days in hospital. Does that mean that all the time training and gaining experience spent by the medical staff, scientists and so on was unnecessary? Does 48 hours in hospital and a positive Covid test make him an expert?

Huge apologies it was roachwoman who used the term liberal left and I gathered you felt the same. No?

He's trying to turn a negative into a positive and get one over on Joe Biden.

I have always believed that the American President is open to criticism from the rest of the world, unlike other leaders. The USA is allegedly the leader of the western world and as such has a huge influence on the rest of us. POTUS in my lifetime have generally behaved reasonably well. Some led us into war, others couldn’t get Princess Diana’s name correct. But all of them had a degree of dignity, diplomacy and decorum. trump doesn’t display any of this and his actions are leading the world into mayhem. So yes, we can criticise him.

On holiday 2 years ago, we sat at dinner with an older couple who had voted for Trump. We chatted about politics for a while and I realised the lady didn't understand the difference between America's left and right and ours. To keep it simple, I said that as far I could see it, from right to left it ran like this: Republicans, Conservatives, Democrats, Labour, also mentioning that we had other parties, not just two. She was surprised. I'd like to know what she thinks about Trump now.

I also get the feeling that Socialism is seen as Communism by Republicans, which it isn't. Perhaps that's why they get so het up about the Democrats that they cast as leftist.

So, Americans, please feel free to clarify things for everyone, if you are able.

Watching CNN, a doctor said that the particular cocktail of drugs Trump is on will make him hyperactive and delusional!

Just what the world needs. This is getting surreal.

How will they know?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 05-Oct-20 16:24:41

True, but he does have his finger on the button?

suziewoozie Mon 05-Oct-20 16:31:45

That’s a very good point Ladyleft. If you style yourself as leader of the free world, then the free world is entitled to its opinion of how well you’re doing.

janywoo Mon 05-Oct-20 16:52:39

How many of us would decline a ride with our covid19 infected boss? I would! The ride was sad on many levels, many families couldnt be with their loved ones as they passed away, because they had to be isolated, and this jerk took a joy ride.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 05-Oct-20 17:59:44

Trumps orders to his 50000 army “go into the polls and watch”. What does that mean and why?

Caligrandma Mon 05-Oct-20 18:48:03

I disagree. Im Californian. Libs look at that as grandstanding I suppose. 63Million Americans voted for him. Conservatives thought it was an appreciative gesture to those that prayed for him and his First Lady. Far Leftists have a narrative that is hateful. Its extremely obvious. Libs have lost some of their voters because of their hateful speech and hateful actions.

Artols '' If the progressive Democrats get into power, this country will implode.''

if Trump is elected again, your country will explode - more like.

Caro57 Mon 05-Oct-20 19:00:17

Perhaps he doesn’t have Covid and it’s all fake news to get the sympathy vote...............

collius Mon 05-Oct-20 19:13:06

This was sent to me
Donald Trump has caught Covid 19.

Thoughts are with the virus at this difficult time.
