Congratulations!! Whoever you are???

Oldbutstilluseful Tue 08-Dec-20 19:18:02

I really hope you are right Lemsip. ?

WW means instead of say £1 to win, £1 e/w, so £2, is for it to win or get ‘placed’ (2nd or 3rd usually) you win less and it costs you more.

I work in a care home, we have to register for an appointment by midday tomorrow so hopefully not long to wait??

Jaxjacky Tue 08-Dec-20 20:20:19

Ok WW, cathymum it is...good luck cathymum ?

Is it by age or by alphabetical order of those over the age of 80?

Wales is vaccinating NHS and care staff first.

The problem with the Pfizer vaccine is that it has to be refrigerated at very low temperatures so is being sent out to hospitals and recipients come to them. They're investicating if a batch (975?) can be safely broken down into smaller quantities for sending to care homes to use before it gets too warm.

The first GNetter should surely post a photo of them having it done, just the arm so can still be anonymous. It would be good for morale grin

I have felt ridiculously excited today with the start of the vaccine programme. It’s an historic day isn’t it?

My husband is bored stiff with me discussing everything I have read!

He was delighted to get a phone call asking him to work tomorrow!

NotTooOld Tue 08-Dec-20 22:56:18

It's a wonderful day today. The next wonderful piece of news should be that the Oxford vaccine has been approved. An article in the Lancet says researchers have already proved it is safe, so what are we waiting for? grin
PS I don't actually get the Lancet delivered but I do look forward to my Bunty.

Think bijou is over 90 but suppose it will depend on which areas get supplies first.

My mum is 100 but Leicester aren’t getting the first batch - we are the poor relations it would seem. ?

Lilypops Tue 08-Dec-20 23:21:39

NotTooOld. Ooh I did love my Bunty comic being delivered.
Especially those lovely plastic bracelets and rings that came as a free gift. !, Now where did I put them. I will be allowed out soon ,

I'm still 79 so just miss being in the first batch of vaccinated. It's rather nice being too young for something again ?

I think it will be a while before I qualify. marydoll was making a list of our ages some time ago but I think there was a data protection problem.
NotTooOld. I’m still on The Twinkle. I’ll move up to The Bunty soon, then The Jackie.

I listened to the woman from Ireland on the radio today and it was lovely hearing her and thinking how everyone listening was sharing in a piece of history-

Very wonderful ?

That actually is what has struck me.

Every time I watch the television, especially the news I am aware just how much we are all interconnected. Every country in the world wearing masks with the same hopes and fears as each other.

As humans there is so much more that connects us than separates us.

I’ve had a text today from my surgery saying the inoculations are not being delivered at GP surgery level and we will have to drive at least 30 minutes to another town when/if the time comes. Very disappointing ☹️

Surely that’s worth a 30 minute drive ? Taxi? For such a special occasion ?

Whitewavemark2 you should get the prize for the most poignant and true sentence on GN in 2020 ?

I agree Lucca, I certainly would have got there somehow, but there are people who are reluctant to take taxis or can’t afford them, public transport isn’t brilliant even though I live in a semi rural area, or don’t have family or friends to fill the gap.
However, first thing this morning another text arrived from the surgery headlined Correction. It seems that we will have local centres instead. I guess their phones must have been redhot!

Although I'm extremely, critically vulnerable, I'm only sixty five, so definitely won't be first in the queue. I shall just have to stay put, as my consultant has told me that Covid will be the end of me. I will be lucky to get the vaccine by springtime. ?

I listened to the Scottish Deputy Chief Medical Officer the other day and she said GP surgeries had been inundated with calls from people demanding wanting to know when they would receive the vaccine.

She emphasised that GP surgeries in Scotland were unable to offer vaccination, due to the low temp requirement of the Pfizer vaccine and asked people to refrain from calling surgeries and wasting staff's time.
Everyone will be notified by letter in due course. I'm sure there will be contingency plans for those who cannot travel. I'm just glad that a vaccine has been found.

Whem I'm offered the vaccination, I will be happy to travel.

I'd have to look at the needle going in then!
