Not me I ll wait for the Oxford one it sounds a better bet knowing how many lawsuits Pfizer has had in the past
I ll happily wait
There’s a reason USA is letting us go first?

Oh for goodness sake. There's always one!

felice, I am saddened to hear that you are nervous. I wonder what it is that you are actually worried about. The fear has been ramped up to such a degree that logical thinking is over powered. Everyone is doing what makes the most sense to them at the time. It only becomes an issue when you want someone else to do/think what you want/believe in. I believe that the vaccination will do far more harm than good and simply cannot understand why anyone in their right mind would voluntarily stand in line to be injected. Seems like the majority here have the opposing view and can't wait. In means nothing other then we think differently. I have no wish to have others think what I think, or for me to think like them. It's a non-issue and life goes on. If you take away whatever it is that other parents are doing/not doing in the playground is there anything else that leaves you feeling anxious at pick-up?

Warning:
People with allergies are being advised not to have the Pfizer vaccine after 2 people have become ill after vaccination.
News story here:

The day I expect 'news' from the Daily Mail to be even half true, will be a long time coming!

I am 83 , they forgot me for the Flu jab , so I don’t expect the Surgery to remember me for this one
I did ring up for the Flu one , and it took ages to get through , then I was spoken to as if I wasn’t capable

Roxie62 Wed 09-Dec-20 14:00:16

My mum in law is having the vaccination on Sunday.

Well said Mimi22. I have received abusive responses on here for daring to say I have no intention of joining the queue until I feel it is safe to do so. I do not wish to persuade others, frankly it is none of my business what everyone else chooses to do but it is amazing to me that other gransnetters seem to feel entitled to denigrate my choice.

My husband has just been given appointment for a jab next week - does that count?! He is 81.

Mimi22 Wed 09-Dec-20 14:40:58

Esspee - seems that the kickback is from a need to defend, when there is nothing to defend, no kickback necessary. Always here if you want support.

Been part of the Oxford University vaccination trials for a while now so I was injected with something - could've been a placebo, though.

Grannygrumps1 Wed 09-Dec-20 15:07:29

I know two people that had it yesterday. Both nhs staff. They both have aching arms today the same as you would get from the flu vaccination. One has has a headache since the jab and was told if it lasts the week she will need to see her GP.
Being x nhs staff I know you will not be allowed to chose which vaccine you receive.
I have also been told that yes it protects you from the virus. But a big BUT. if you come into contact with the virus you can still catch it and you possibly won’t have any symptoms - here’s the BIG BUT....... you can still transmit it to others.
Sorry to be doom and gloom.

Anniel Wed 09-Dec-20 15:19:29

Do you think the UK government will eventually send the vaccine to other Commonwealth countries? I hear some has arrived in Barbados and was surprised it was done so quickly. I am 86 with heart and kidney problems so if I was back home I would be in the queue! St Lucia has fared reasonably well with only two deaths so far but Australia was hit hard but the strict rules have brought numbers down. I think NZ is OK but.Canada has quite a lot of cases. Then there are many African countries in the Commonwealth so I guess we wait and see. Good luck everyone.

Alegrias2 Wed 09-Dec-20 15:39:34

I don't think its gloom and doom at all Grannygrumps1!

I think it just makes it even more clear that as many people as possible should have the vaccine, to protect themselves. You might still get the virus but it won't be nearly so serious.

EllanVannin Wed 09-Dec-20 15:45:51

I feel so awful right now as the surgery have just rang inviting me for my vaccination and because the call was out of the blue and my mind hadn't been made up there and then I asked if I could ring back.
There was a possibility that the nurse/sister who does my INR's would have done it on Thursday. Isn't it an awful feeling when you're indecisive about these things when you know that there could be an adverse effect ?

Bazza Wed 09-Dec-20 15:48:20

I had a text today from my surgery in angry capital letters saying DO NOT RING THE SURGERY, WE HAVE NO VACCINE YET AND WE DO NOT KNOW WHEN WE WILL BE GETTING IT! Poor receptionists must have been inundated. I’m sure we will be contacted in due course.

Thousands and they had had previous reactions.

Although Covid is now spreading thick and fast I'm in no hurry.

Whingingmom Wed 09-Dec-20 16:06:04

For those who don’t drive - taxi? Volunteer driver (your surgery or Age UK may recommend)

Callistemon Wed 09-Dec-20 16:11:19

EllanVannin!

You could have won the GN competition.
I dont know what the prize is though.

Mimi22 Wed 09-Dec-20 16:20:38

EllanVannin - Covid is not now spreading thick and fast. Numbers are coming down. Just like they were reducing before they put the 1st lockdown in place, it is the natural flow. I suggest that whilst you are indecisive you leave decision making. Once you know, you'll know. There is no going back from it once you have been injected. There is no rush. As granny grumps1 pointed out 'if you come into contact with the virus you can still catch it and you possibly won’t have any symptoms - here’s the BIG BUT....... you can still transmit it to others.' Seems to leave you in exactly the same situation as pre -jab without the possible unknown side effects that may present now and and in the future. Common knowledge that the pharma companies/anyone involved are not accountable if things go badly...... now why might they need such protection?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 09-Dec-20 16:25:53

The prize is to have the final word over disputes.

The choice is nothing to do with my dream you understand.

EllanVannin Wed 09-Dec-20 16:27:48

Mimi, I beg to differ as both Covid and deaths are rising in numbers.
