Exercising once a day?

Can anyone explain to me why we are only allowed to exercise once a day. I take my dogs out twice a day locally (in a very rural area) and avoid other people. What is the problem with this?

Nanna58 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:08:21

Buffybee where oh where have you heard at Govt level that the once a day rule is to lessen accidents??????

MissAdventure Wed 06-Jan-21 20:12:30

Where has anyone heard at government level that they can ignore the law and decide for themselves?

Nanna58 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:19:38

I’m not questioning the rule, just Buffybee’s rationale for it .

MissAdventure Wed 06-Jan-21 20:22:05

Ah, I see what you mean. smile
I'm a bit prickly today, sorry.

MissAdventure

Where has anyone heard at government level that they can ignore the law and decide for themselves?

Me too!
One law for the English, another for the Welsh
We have few cases here.

Nanna58 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:25:50

Actually yes: I am questioning it. We have not mixed in contravention of the rules , despite life being dreadful in lockdown due to husband’s Altzheimers , so I make no bones of the fact that getting out and exercising is something that I do and will continue to do ( coming into no contact and therefore compromising no one’s health) regardless of others approbation!

Callistemon Wed 06-Jan-21 20:25:54

Me too - prickly today!

Nanna58 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:27:36

No worries MissAdventure , we are all a bit at the end of our rope

Buffybee Wed 06-Jan-21 20:29:14

I can't remember exactly Nanna58 but it's not something that I have made up. I have heard it somewhere and it makes sense to me.
Of course, people who think the rules don't apply to them, won't really like any reason for the rule, will they?
What about we only go out to exercise once a day, "just because".
I have a dog, I exercise her now for longer, once a day as we have been instructed. She has a large garden to play in and to make up for loss of walks, I play games with her, fetch etc. I exercise in the house myself to make up for any loss of outdoor exercise.
I am obeying the lockdown rules, people are dying, we all need to do what we've been told.

Callistemon Wed 06-Jan-21 20:30:36

I am too.
Even though I am desperate for a walk.

shirleyhick Wed 06-Jan-21 20:30:36

I take my dogs out 3 times a day they do not understand what is going on. I walk them in rural area's and when I do see someone which is not very often I keep my distance. I think just use common sense.

Nanna58 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:35:25

How lucky you are to have a large garden Buffybee and I’m guessing your husband doesn’t have Alzheimer’s either. You may wish to acquaint your self with the saying ‘ walk a mile in their shoes’ before being quite so smug!

Buffybee Wed 06-Jan-21 20:38:03

Not smug Nanna, just following the rules.

I'm accused of being smug and devoid of any kind of humanity too, because I am following Government Covid rules.
You don't know me, or my situation Nanna58.

Nanna58 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:55:00

You have pretty much proved my point Buffybee, don’t pontificate until you know others situations either . Even Government rules make exceptions for vulnerable people and those with mental and physical problems, so perhaps , if you are so keen to follow their lead , you should do likewise.

Barmeyoldbat Wed 06-Jan-21 20:56:31

Buffeebee, you could say the government, that is D Cummings set the bench mark for interpreting the rules. As for slipping on ice or having an accident outdoors, well you could injure yourself doing exercises at home or just fall down the stairs.

MissAdventure Wed 06-Jan-21 20:59:44

I think the majority of accidents happen in the home.

Nanna58 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:59:49

Oh Barmeyoldbat , thank God for the voice of reason! ???

Buffybee Wed 06-Jan-21 21:07:08

I'm not here to argue every little point Barmyoldbat, people can make excuses and 'interpret' the rules until kingdom come.
Yes, of course you could have an accident in the home but more likely, walking in woods, over moors and on icy pavements.
I was just trying to make the point that only going out once a day was to help the Nhs and why it is best if we can all follow the rules.

Nanna58 Wed 06-Jan-21 21:11:01

Give up,Barmeyoldbat , some people are just unable to exhibit any empathy

Nanna58 Wed 06-Jan-21 21:16:16

Buffybee ‘ if you stand in your garden for one hour and see no one , presumably you do not feel you are contravening the rules, If I walk in deserted open countryside for a similar length of time where in Gods name is the difference????}

Hetty58 Wed 06-Jan-21 21:16:34

Having read through all of this, I think, perhaps, some people really don't realise just how disgusted we are with them.

Here we are, in the midst of a global pandemic, 87,394,143 cases, 1,885,919 deaths (and counting).

We've all made sacrifices, had our lives changed, activities limited, endured isolation etc.

Many of us have lost loved ones too.

So, we follow the rules, we are careful, considerate and limit our lives to protect others

Then, there's the selfish brigade, the 'I'll do exactly what I want' people. Those with the flimsy excuses, the 'I don't agree', the weak, pathetic arguments - and all their supporters. Pathetic - the whole lot of you!

Buffybee Wed 06-Jan-21 21:19:02

And some people think the rules don't apply to them, while everyone else is doing their best to follow them.
Why should we bother?
Let all make excuses and have a free for all.......

Nanna58 Wed 06-Jan-21 21:22:30

I don’t think I actually want to come out of the other side of this nightmare only to find the world inhabited by people like the last two posters......
