What do you think about those that won’t have the vaccine because it hasn’t been tested enough. The medical profession say it’s only vaccination that will save the health service and that if enough don’t have it we won’t beat COVID.

Jazmine, this is what's happened to me this week---no transport.
2nd phone call today before teatime asking me to go on Saturday ! I won't know if my D can take me until I ring her tomorrow. This is twice they've rang me now and both times I've explained about the difficulty in getting a lift. I feel hounded now.

Can you order a taxi EV, or are you shielding?

SueDonim Thu 14-Jan-21 22:22:33

Yes, some way of linking it to the chip in passports would be one way.

EllanVannin Thu 14-Jan-21 22:23:41

Even taxi's are iffy with most people using that mode of transport rather than buses.
I'm not shielding Gagajo .

You could open windows though. Wear gloves. Take your wipes. Make sure the driver has a mask.

I would rather take a taxi and risk it and get the vaccine. I wish I was higher up the list!

If your daughter isn’t able to take you, you can ask for the taxi driver to leave the windows open if you’re concerned EllanVannin, it wouldn’t be a comfortable ride but it would be safer, and you would get your vaccination. They do wear masks and sanitise between customers too.

I agree with Casdon.

If the truth be known it's an area that under normal circumstances I'd avoid like the plague.

I have just read about an employer of a plumbing firm in London who is saying that he will not take on any new employee unless they have had the vaccination. Current employees (on a case by case basis) will lose their job if they refuse to have the vaccination. Lawyers and employment experts are saying that this will not be enforceable. Surely though it’s just common sense?

Casdon Thu 14-Jan-21 22:41:40

But Covid is the plague under another name, so I really hope you can find a way to get yourself there and get protected.

Jazmine they probably had cancellations that’s why you were called and offered the jab on the same day.

EllanVannin Thu 14-Jan-21 22:50:03

Yes Casdon, I usually wear two masks when out as well as I don't want a repeat of last year.

In France, which is a country of hypochondriacs and where prescriptions are handed out like smarties, I don't understand why only 40% of the population are willing to be vaccinated.

blondenana Thu 14-Jan-21 22:59:19

Spain is saying they will record people who don't have the vaccine, not sure how that will work though

Jaffacake2 Thu 14-Jan-21 23:07:31

I am hoping that I will be allowed to have the vaccine as there are concerns about the serious allergies I have to different foods and drugs. Apparently it is up to the attending doctor at the vaccination centre to assess the risk. Very anxious about getting the virus as have asthma and neurological condition.

Ellianne in France they don’t trust the Pfizer, same in Italy.
