Vaccination side effects

My DH had a raised temperature the day after his AZ jab. My son in law had his on the same day, he felt unwell the day after and the day after that had pins and needles tingling in his arms and legs.

Had the Astra Zeneca jab 9 am Saturday, fine all day then at 9pm sudden uncontrollable shivering, headache, went to bed, stayed in bed milking it all day Sunday. Right as rain on Monday.
Worth it and will definitely have the second one when offered.

I had the Oxford vaccine and felt very unwell the next day - headache, nausea, tiredness - but took paracetamol and was perfectly alright the next day.

Now those of us who had no reactions/side effects at all, are we going to worry that our immune system is not working as well as it should? I read that’s not the case. Any medical people on here who knows more?

Chatting to my sister this morning.

She had the AZ one on Saturday morning, legs felt very heavy by evening, then she turned very cold.

Next morning, felt rough, was sick 3 times, went back to bed, slept for a few hours, then ok after that.

I am due the Pfizer one in Friday.

Sister’s DH had the Pfizer one a while ago, just a sore arm.

DH and I both had the Pfizer vaccine last week. Apart from mildly sore arm at the injection site no side effects at all. Apparently side effects more likely after 2nd jab.

A bit if a headache, but i could have been due one anyway!! My arm was tender for a few days and that was it!!

I had the AZ last Friday. On Sunday I had the start of griping pains in my stomach, loss of appetite and shivering. I thought I must have eaten something but couldn’t think what.

I looked on the advice sheet that said 1 in100 had abdominal pain and lose of appetite, and 1 in 10 shivering feeling. I still don’t know if it was a reaction. About 95% better ?

This is purely anecdotal but I have heard of far more side-effects from people who have had the Astra-Zeneca vaccine. I had the Pfizer vaccine last week and the only effect I felt was inability to keep my eyes open later in the day. I was incredibly tired so went to bed at 9.30 and slept soundly until 8.30 the following morning. Actually it was great as I’d been having trouble sleeping for weeks so two nights of this knocked me back into a decent sleep routine.

Orlin was supposed to have his jab this afternoon. Went for his monthly INR this morning, his blood was too thin so jab was cancelled until blood thickness stabilises.
Haven’t heard of anyone else having this problem. Wondering if we should get a second opinion. He’s very disappointed.

Laura I wonder if they were worried about giving him an injection if there was a higher chance of problematic bleeding?

LN that's a shame. There have been a rare reports of the Oxford one causing blood clots, but never heard of blood being too thin.
I had the Oxford one last night and the doctor, who administered it, seemed pleased I was on two lots of thinners. ?‍♀️

We both had the Astra Zeneka vaccination on Monday. On Monday night I started shivering and had a mild headache. On Tuesday I still had the headache, my arms and midriff ached and I was lethargic. After a good night’s sleep I was fine by Wednesday. DH had no reaction at all. He went to the Podiatrist in Wednesday and he told him that people who have already had Coronavirus were more likely to have bad side effects after the vaccination and that was his experience, he had flu like symptoms for a week afterwards.

I'll let you know tomorrow. I've booked a duvet day just in case.

I had the Pfizer vaccine yesterday, and have had no side effects apart from an aching arm. I’ve also had Covid, I was hospitalised for twelve days with it, and I can assure anyone that the illness is far, far worse than the vaccine. Even if the side effects are worse than my sore arm.

DH felt really unwell the night after he had his first one . He felt cold and shivered a lot had to get up and full a hot water bottle and still could not sleep .

I had shivering and backache 24 hours afterwards and could not face my dinner which is most unlike me! Stupidly I soldiered on but eventually I took some paracetamol as the nurse advised and was fine the next day apart from a sore arm which lasted for more than a week and is still quite tender.

Got the Pfizer jag last night, both of us feeling perfectly OK today.

DH and I had the Astra Zeneca vaccine, him last week, me on Tuesday this week. We were sort of expecting some reaction as we both felt ill last October after the flu vaccine, for the first time ever.

But we haven’t had a single side effect between us. Not even a sore arm. DH was advised to take paracetamol for 24 hours after his jab, and I did that too. Perhaps it helped.

Our children compared this to the advice they got to give their children Calpol on the day they have a vaccination. What’s good for children’s good for older folk as well - the circle of life in action.

Marydoll that’s rather alarming, was it in the UK? I haven’t heard that. I did hear Covid can cause you blood clots.

Alegrias thanks for the reply re Orlin’s blood, you’re probably right. Fingers crossed lower dose of warfarin this week and he’ll be okay for his jab next week. Marydoll thanks for reply, hadn’t heard about clotting, thankfully the medical profession seem to be on top of it. Glad you’ve had your first, one less thing to worry about.

LN, when I had my vaccination four weeks ago, the doctor who administered it asked a battery of questions one of which was 'are you on blood thinners?' So I assumed that would be a contra-indication. No, I'm not on blood thinners!

I was asked abut blood thinners when I had my flu jab and the nurse asked me what my INR was. I was told then that they were worried about giving any non-urgent injection to someone with a higher than expected INR.

Casdon, thank you for your kind suggestion but I think it's just 'me'!

I had an egg-sized lump twenty odd years ago after early 'flu jabs. I was not given the 'flu jab for several years after that but eventually persuaded them and have been fine since.

Speaking to my GP recently, she gaily said 'you're not on the list, are you, as you had a previous reaction' I had to explain I have been fine for many years and was then reinstated on the Covid inoculation list.

I did show my reaction (as at about five days) to a GP whilst at the surgery for another problem and she didn't seem concerned in the slightest!

Now at 18 days and I still have a small bump at the injection site.

It's fun being a sensitive little flower... not!
