Vaccination side effects

I had the AZ yesterday at noon. I thought I’d swerved side effects when I went to bed at 11pm. But no. Woke at 2am with the most splitting headache I’ve ever had in my life and it’s lasted since then. It seems to be easing off a bit so I plan to be in bed at 9pm to sleep myself right.

Arm & neck ached last night but by lunchtime that pain had gone. Still, better than getting covid.

I had similar Urmstongran but a couple of duvet days and lots of sleep put it right. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

DH had AZ vaccine yesterday. Overnight he was very uncomfortable with aching limbs and feeling frozen and moaned half the night. I had to decamp to the spare room to get some sleep. He's been better today but has started sinking again this evening. I'm due for my first jab tomorrow so not looking forward to the aftereffects, though I'm sure actually getting Covid would be far worse.

Really bad cold sores.

Interesting. Just came out in a cold sore. First one I’ve had for a long time. Feels like it’s going to be a whopper, too!

I had the Astra Zenica 3 weeks ago with nothing more than a slightly sore arm. Strangely after a week or so it began aching again around the top as if I had pulled a muscle. Maybe I had as it's fine now. Looking back on many injections and blood tests I wonder how much has to do with the efficiency of the vaccinator. As a general rule if I feel it going in it bruises or aches. Otherwise it is painless.

Nine days after a severe reaction to the AZ one, I'm still unwell. However, that hasn't put me off having the second one.
The worst part is the nausea.
Those with a sore arm and feeling fluey for twenty four hours, it will pass. My arm is still painful. I don't think mine is anything to do with the efficacy of the vaccinatior.

I’m right as rain today! So 24 hours of feeling rough especially with a headache from hell. Horrid, but worth it to be immunised. I feel so lucky. Glad I don’t live in Malaga. Still nowt happening over there and some of my neighbours who are resident, are well over 80y.

IMO this thread is surely helpful rather than otherwise. For myself I look on the reaction I had as a positive - it meant that the vaccine was doing something.
Reading these posts would not have put me off having the jab at all.

Felt a tiny bit achy yesterday, with that prickly skin feeling, absolutely fine today. My husband had nothing at all.

I wonder if the actual vaccinator's skill contributes to feeling sore arm later. When I had my flu jab I really didn't feel a thing. I couldn't believe it was over. The Covid vacc I did feel a brief but real pain as the needle went in. The flu vacc was done by a practice nurse and the Covid one by an army medic (no idea of his actual job though).

I had the AZ jab just over a week ago. My arm was red, hot, swollen and very sore for about 5 days. I now am left with a dark purple bruise the size of a 10p piece. The person who did the vaccination was a bit too efficient and seemed to be in a rush. I was in and out in less than 5 mins. No sitting around.
I’m fine now and it wouldn’t stop me having the vaccine again. Better a sore arm for a few days than severe Virus symptoms.

My flu vaccination was done by a pharmacist, my COVID jab by a newly qualified doctor. Neither had any effect on me beyond the original insertion of the needle. In both cases, within seconds, it was as if I had not had a jab.

In both cases I felt slightly cheated! I have never had the flu vaccination before. I have never had flu, not even when at uthe heart of an epidemic, so have never bothered with it, bt this year it was reported that apart from its affect on flu, the flu generally boosts your immune system and this year anything that does that was not to be turned down.

Anyway, two momentous jabs, and the whole thing come and gone in seconds, as if it had never happened, I do think my body could have marked the event with a slightly swollen arm the next day, or at least, a tiny bit of redness. Humph.

I had the AZ vaccine a few days ago and was wiped out and achy for 24 hours. As I have fibromyalgia, this is nothing new for me, but it was bearable. Don't be nervous if you also have FM.
I dreamt rubbish all night as well. It was nice to see my mother's old wooden clothes horse again, and glad I found just the right pink wool to crochet that flamingo. Maggie Smith lifting her skirts and running down the corridor was a bit much, especially as she beat me to M& S

We had the AZ yesterday morning.
I feel achey and tired with aching joints plus arm.
My DH felt like he was going down with flu in the night: shivers, feeling cold, achy.
So, both slightly different symptoms. I also have no appetite but that might be due to inactivity. We are both mid 60s.

I had AZ vaccine yesterday. I do have a question though. Immediately afterwards the nurse kept dabbing my arm. I thought it may be blood but then realised as it was cold it must have been the vaccine leaking out. She just said it was a bit oozy and dismissed me. Have had very little in the way of side effects (unlike first flu jab in Autumn). Now I’m wondering if it’s all leaked out and I’m not protected. Has this happened to anyone else? No idea what to do.

Someone asked this question on a BBC programme yesterday and the answer was that the needle goes quite away in before the vaccine is deposited in your body and that it will not be vaccine leaking out, probably only blood. If a cold syringe is innoculating cold serum, the cold will also cool the body area around it as well.

I forget the details, possible others can help, what the doctor was clear about was that it would not be vaccine and there was no chance of the protection from the vaccine being reduced.

So many different side affects I had the AZ on Wednesday, and I couldn’t even tell you where I was vaccinated, no discomfort and I can’t even see a mark.

.....I watched DH being vaccinated and it is a very very long needle....which surprised me as I didn’t feel my jab at all.

I didn't feel it either, and I didn't even need a plaster. Zilch!

IT may be a long needle, but it was a VERY FINE ONE!

Three weeks and five days in and I still have a sore arm with a small lump at the injection site however, under no circumstances would I consider not having the second inoculation. Better a sore arm than Covid (and I know - I have had it {mildly}).

We have a date for our second vaccination and are looking forward to being fully protected (as well as we can be) very soon.

Please do not let anything you read here put you off having your vaccination. Think how fortunate we are, being offered something that can save our lives.
