Just heard on sky News that the vaccine has been suspended in Ireland due to a report from Norway about blood clotting issues in 4 cases. I have had that vaccine and I’m not at all worried..

BlueSky Thu 18-Mar-21 09:30:20

As mentioned before there’s been a similar number of clots after vaccination with the Pfizer vaccine. Why haven’t we heard about these? Why hasn’t the Pfizer been temporarily suspended too?

Firecracker123 Thu 18-Mar-21 09:41:51

A bargain. At recent prices, shares of Pfizer have been trading at just 13.7 times the company's 2021 earnings expectations, and that's before factoring in potential coronavirus vaccine sales. ... The company's already on pace to meet this expectation with non-coronavirus revenue expected to rise 6% year over year in 2021.4 Feb 2021

AstraZeneca shares rise as University of Oxford vaccine poised for UK approval

A new study has indicated that 2mln people a week in the UK would need to be vaccinated to avoid a third wave of the coronavirus outbreak

I think the smearing of the Oxford Astrazeneca vaccines was all about boosting the Pfizer vaccine share price. Its all about the money.

If we're going to have a discussion about the efficacy of early medieval foreign policy in Europe we should probably have a new thread.

As they say in the playground: "Well; you started it..."

The UK have not had any reports of blood clots and millions of doses have been given. Not yet proven to cause blood clots and with such few incidences I don’t think it is worth worrying about. Scaremongering again. Better to have the vaccine than risk COVID.

I think the person pointing out that the French had always been our enemies actually started it.....

Regarding the headlines stating an expected delay in “India shortage behind UK shortfall” Casdon, I was coming to point your link out you beat me to it.

Maybe it is a problem with particular batches? Just a thought. Perhaps the UK got a good lot if there were no side effects - no reported ones anyway. I didn’t like the very rude racist comment from the Jennifer cake lady but if she is that xenophobic I just feel sorry for her. We all have things in life that upset us and Australians really aren’t that bad. Some of us can even read medical reports.

Oui c'est moi. Je suis coupable.

I’m sure they will be checking batch numbers - I wondered about that too. Nice post btw - very gracious considering

It was that kind of relationship. We didn't expect much back. Just making the English nervous was reward enough.

Racist remark!

C’est vrai. And how typical that history got so quickly rewritten on a thread.

Alegrias1 Thu 18-Mar-21 10:04:48

maddyone you've missed a whole conversation. I respectfully suggest you read the rest of the thread.

I must have missed your shock at JEs post to nanna .

Thanks Alegrias1 I hadn’t seen that from WHO. Surely EMO would act on the WHO ruling.

seamstress Thu 18-Mar-21 10:10:54

Speaking to a relative in an EU country - he said the pause on rollout of AZ vaccine was to reassure the sceptics that it would be safe - in a way to get all the information and date super clear, then they will resume the programme. There are so many anti vaxxers anyway, the public need reassurance. There are some sectors in the UK population who are refusing the vaccine too.

I just saw the WHO thing this morning. You're right, surely the EMO will say the same?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 18-Mar-21 10:17:28

I was under the impression that the EMA (European Medicines Agency) have been saying all along that the AZ vaccine is safe, it’s the individual Member States that have pronounced otherwise?

Lollin Thu 18-Mar-21 10:17:47

I heard on BBC radio 4 this morning that US haven’t started using their supplies of the AstraZeneca vaccine yet as approval is still weeks away. TheIndependent has reported that Mexico is wondering why they won’t let them use some in the meantime. Such a shame all the various hold ups

There you go again, chucking the boring spanner of truth into a much more exciting making it up as we go along thread ?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 18-Mar-21 10:30:52

Not sure if you are being ironic or agreeing with me suziewoozie ?

You know very well I’m an admirer of your fair mindedness on GN. ?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 18-Mar-21 10:33:31

Cheers suziewoozie , I had an early start this morning and I fear my little grey cells are underperforming.

maddyone Thu 18-Mar-21 10:34:01

I’m shocked at very little these days suzie grin

Casdon Thu 18-Mar-21 10:39:24

I understood the member states were temporarily suspending use pending the meeting today by EMA suziewoosie, not that the individual states have pronounced it is unsafe. It’s a precautionary measure.
If anybody is able to explain the relationship between them and the WHO I’d be grateful, because I thought the WHO was the senior organisation?

JenniferEccles Thu 18-Mar-21 10:41:02

nanna8 I would like to apologise for my comment to you yesterday evening.
I had had a bit of a fraught day but that is not your fault and it was no excuse for me to take it out on you!

As has been pointed out, you are just as entitled to express your views as we all are, and of course differing opinions is what Gransnet is all about isn’t it!
