Just heard on sky News that the vaccine has been suspended in Ireland due to a report from Norway about blood clotting issues in 4 cases. I have had that vaccine and I’m not at all worried..

That's exactly what's happening. It's political.

The EU have not mandated the pause. Individual countries have decided that for themselves.

And yeah, Macron at al have decided some of their people might have to die just to get at the Brits. hmm

EU showing their true colours now, they would rather people die of coronavirus than use the British Astrazeneca product. Thank God we left the corrupt EU. So jealous are they of the UK and the fact we are world beating with our vaccination programme and getting the UK up and running again.

In case people didn't see the full quote, permit me:

"The head of Italy’s medicine regulator AIFA, admitted today that politicians had come under pressure to suspend AstraZeneca vaccines after Germany and France made similar moves.

‘We got to the point of a suspension because several European countries, including Germany and France, preferred to interrupt vaccinations. The choice is a political one’, Magrini said in an interview with La Repubblica."

Macron’s dislike of anything British is becoming more evident by the day. That he is happy to allow his citizens to continue to die from Covid whilst he has stores of a proven vaccine is criminal.

And will Macron now blame the new variant found in Bretagne on La Grande-Bretagne?

Urmstongran Tue 16-Mar-21 17:33:55

My friend made me laugh this afternoon. We were talking about this subject and she said she’d had her AZ jab. 3 days later she said her broadband went down. Could they be related?
?

Maybe the EU should send the AZ vaccine on to the African countries if they don't want it. It is wrong that it is not being used. The Congo has just started vaccinating with Astra Zenica.

It’s been reported that President Macron is going to begin proceedings against Astra Zeneca for not fulfilling all of France’s order of vaccines.

This whilst they have thousands and thousands of doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine stored in warehouses?

You couldn’t make it up!

I'm going to have to put a stop on my buying Estee Lauder revitalising cream at nearly £70 a pot!

Alegrias ??

Urmstongran Tue 16-Mar-21 17:19:58

There is a report that the real reason for suspension the shortage of syringes, which, if true, is another massive FAIL for the EU; they can't give shots so they curtail the AZ vaccine.

It is right for the medical authorities to monitor vaccination side effects, but this should be done quickly and quietly, for the blood clot cases it means a simple check of medical history and medication taken by the people who suffered the condition.

It is the covid-19 itself which creates blood clots in the lungs and blood vessels and brain - these people might have had active Covid-19 disease when given the vaccine and the blood clots were there in the first place??

Point is: you do not suspend a national vaccination without causative, clinical indication that the vaccine WAS the actual cause.

Not the LePen post, I should be clear!!

Alegrias1 Tue 16-Mar-21 17:15:48

I know its not really funny Ug but that did make me laugh!

Urmstongran Tue 16-Mar-21 17:15:20

Marine LePen's chances in the French Presidential Elections are looking better day by day...

Urmstongran Tue 16-Mar-21 17:11:39

So the EU politicians are withholding the vaccine on the basis that 1 in 1.5 million recipients MIGHT get a blood clot, which has yet to be an issue caused by the vaccine.

I'm no gambler, but I'm happy with those odds. You'd find the chances of dying in an accident on the way to the vaccine tent, would be higher.

Maddyone sadly Italian friends believe the cheapness of the AZ means it’s an inferior vaccine! angry

They must believe that the huge profits made by drugs companies somehow make the product better. A bit like face creams, if it comes in a fancy box and costs four times as much, it must be better.

On Sky News
Nicola Magrini director general of Italy’s medicine authority told its daily newspaper he believed the choice to suspend the AstraZeneca vaccine was political.
Could well be.

Yes indeed.

Ellianne Tue 16-Mar-21 15:49:31

grin maddyone that was my thinking! Christmas is a long way off!

Ellianne Tue 16-Mar-21 15:48:32

Anyway, more importantly I think it's amazing how the human body (and nature) manages to heal and cope with all sorts of onslaughts in terms of drugs and procedures. Less so with the onslaughts of covid.
