As all surgeries and other vaccine providers have worked their socks off and still are, with the massive logistics involved perhaps time for another call. I’m not sure how long ago the OP’s Mum was told she was on a list!

So many people conplaining.. In so many countries they are not getting first let alone second. One shot pretty well keeps you safe. The second is a top up. It is true that the British are a country of complainers Learn to be thankful...PLEASE

My mom had her 2nd one today after 12 weeks if I was you I would ring the GP Practice

Jon Snow 73 C4 news presenter had his second jab today, 8 weeks after his first one. Mama why not contact him about your mum? He might be sympathetic ( joke)

I heard that 2nd jabs wouldn't be delayed and that there would be enough vaccine. I would get onto the GP as this doesn’t sound right. Good luck.

I was given the date of my second jab at the same time as my first jab. So I presume it will go ahead on 13th April.

This thread is NOT full of people complaining but there have been maybe 2 legitimate concerns raised. If you went to a Michelin starred restaurant and had a poor meal, do you think you shouldn’t complain because most people had had a good meal and anyway you were lucky to be able to afford to go?
I care passionately about the NHS and over a long association with it in various roles, am well aware that complains are one of the mechanisms of improvement.

And we still do not know how long one jab remains effective for

My understanding is that the nhs website is for booking first jabs and at the same time making a booking for the second one. Anyone share my understanding ?

Yes, or at least, yes in my case. I was contacted by my surgery for the first dose, although it was given at another location, and no 2nd date given.

I've tried to see if I can book online for the second but computer says no.

Following comments on here, I thought I’d see what would happen if I logged onto NHS booking site and tried to book second jab. I’m 6 weeks post 1st one. I put in NHS number, dob and postcode and was offered one location 15 miles away today. I didn’t book it because that would be wrong and I’d also rather support my local surgery but it’s good to know tgat option is available atm in my are ( Surrey). Bit shocked though

Yes I just thought it was useful feedback for anyone nearing the end of their 12 weeks and not having heard. Obvs it’s area dependent .

I was told second jab had to be within 12 weeks or not valid.. My two appointments were booked at the same time first 13th Jan second 31st March at Guys Hospital. I received a text and email one Sunday evening telling me to go for second jab on 4th March instead

We had a text from the GP surgery telling us to book online, which seems to be a combination of the two approaches. At the vaccination hub we were told that we would be contacted between 3 - 12 weeks, more likely 12, for the second dose. That was February so not expecting to hear just yet. I would be getting twitchy by week 11, if I had not heard by then. I suppose you have to keep on trying by that time.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the OP had left this thread given some of the comments here.

We were told we’d be sent a text after 12 weeks, not due till mid April, why ignore first advice.

Everyone jumping up and down and getting in a twist if they’ve not ‘heard’ Also lots of experts wanting to phone GPs, NHS, MPs. Just be patient and thankful.

What a very rude post and inaccurate to boot. No one is jumping up and down at all. Some posters are giving sensible advice to others. Anyone who is having problems getting a second jab is being sensible and responsible in trying to address that problem .

A post is not rude, or necessarily inaccurate just because you disagree. What is inaccurate in the posts you have so far deemed to be so? It's all a bit rich coming from someone who appears not to reference or back up anything she says.
