A ceremony and sit down meal, over 60 people in August
A big birthday party in July at a house with gardens and a pool!
Are people being optimistic?
I have just said I will go but really this wont be happening will it?

Not at all optimistic, ALL restrictions are supposed to be,removed as of June 21st. I am very concerned that people have been so conditioned to lockdown that they will struggle to ever fully participate in life again.

My niece had her wedding booked for the end of June 2020 and has had to postpone it for a year. It is now touch-and-go whether it will go ahead this year. If it does, and I can go, then I certainly will!
What is also touch-and-go is whether I can still get into the wedding outfit I bought for it last year! blush

Can’t really believe it yet. All restrictions lifted from 21 June. Unless it’s 2022!

I hope people will be able to go ahead with their plans whatever form they take. We will of course still live in a country where Covid is around and will carry on isolating and testing as we are doing now. It just means we will hopefully not have restrictions in our lives.

Just heard rumours that Boris wants to extend lockdown until September Hope not I want to be able to attend parties and weddings in August. We cannot go on forever being locked down and not meeting people We are social creatures

The vote today was to extend the emergency powers tomSeptember, not the lockdown. It will give the government to ability to react quickly to potential rises in infections without having to have a new bill. Or at least that is my understanding as BJ said the original roadmap dates still stand

My 69 year old friend is getting married tomorrow for the first time! Just 8 of us invited/going...masked. No reception.

How lovely Micky! I’ve just heard of somebody else getting married for the first time in their sixties, similar small gathering, nice to hear a normal piece of news! Congratulations! flowers

A year of my life has been spent in lockdown- I've followed all the Rules and can't wait to follow the Roadmap to freedom- I'm desperate to get back to some normality, meeting family and friends, attending any parties I'm invited to, shopping for something besides food, just thinking of it is making me feel so much happier. This is my life and at 70 I don't want to waste any more of it.

Our sons wedding was planned for July last year. It did happen but only with 6 guests parents and witnesses. Big reception rebooked for August this year so ??
More important question though - should I get another outfit or use same oneconfused

Same one, why not?

I wore the same outfit to my daughter’s wedding and my son’s, 16 months apart.

If anyone notices, who cares?

My granddaughter was due to get married in August but they have postponed the reception until August 2022 (although they will still get married this year). Very sensible in these uncertain and unpredictable times.
