Hi all. Just carry on as we were before. Anyone who wants a chat welcome ?

Urmstongran Tue 20-Apr-21 21:53:00

p.s. I read about this from your post on soop’s Doodle. You were right to highlight this awful situation.

CherryCezzy Tue 20-Apr-21 21:53:18

No, Doodle my GP can't do that because my neighbour is not a patient at my practice. She is registered with the "other" local GP practice ?.

Kaimoana Tue 20-Apr-21 21:58:23

I will add my loving thought for you and MrP, to everyone else's Panache. It's appalling what has happened and is still happening to you and your dear man.

Cherry I am jut as disgused with the total lack of care for your neighbour and its impact on you. In the old days, we may have gone to Press on issues like this. Now I fear they are too common to be news-worthy. angry

Doodle Tue 20-Apr-21 22:18:54

Cherry if she is not a patient at your Practice I thought perhaps, for your welfare, your GP could help by contacting the MHT or her own GP him/herself. It can’t be doing you any good to have to cope with all this and the sleeplessness too. A little hug and a big pair of earmuffs from me ?

Grandmafrench Tue 20-Apr-21 22:26:48

I'm determined to get my dearest the treatment and caring he needs so, darling Panache please, please just 'phone 999 and insist that someone comes to your rescue and he gets that emergency treatment. If you haven't done it, don't even think what to do for the best, stop even trying to be patient or reasonable and don't distress yourself any further, just phone them. Right now.

You will see from these posts how angry and sad we are on your behalf. All of us are heartbroken and if any of us could wave a wand and make stuff happen right now, we'd do it. That's how much we care.

Make us and yourself feel just a bit better by letting us know that he is receiving treatment. Don't accept any more excuses from those who are failing to do the right thing. We'll keep everything crossed until we hear a few words from you.

Good luck. You can do this, you've come too far to give up now. Hugs and kisses to both of you. ??

Mamissimo Tue 20-Apr-21 22:34:47

Good Evening ?
Now Mrs P you listen up and listen up good! First you save Mr P's next bloody sample. Then you ring 999. When they come you tell them his story, emphasising the new pain and your worry. They can dip his urine to check for uti but are far more likely to take him in to get checked out properly.
Big hugs to you both.

Hair has been cut and hedgerows eyebrows pruned. I look several years younger and back to looking like me. Happy!

Tomorrow Mr M will receive his second jab from the firemen. I will enjoy that ?. I had mine last Thursday and unlike the first jab I've had the aches, a headache and fatigue....but it's job done.

Sleep tight

cornergran Wed 21-Apr-21 01:27:33

I’m so sorry Panache, please rest when you can. I hope help has arrived. Love to you both

soop Wed 21-Apr-21 10:32:44

Panache What is happening at this stage of your ongoing nightmare, is beyond belief. It cannot continue. You need to make an official complaint. Go to the district council website or Citizens' Advice and put your case as you have expressed it to us. I would also let the GP know that this is your intention. When you next get the opportunity to talk to a consultant at the hospital...say it as it is. No holds barred. What you are having to deal with is an utter disgrace.

Panache Wed 21-Apr-21 11:30:06

My dear friends your caring and kindness means I must reply and let you know how things are.

I had rang 999 on Sunday morning about 6.30am and it was this that brought the Ambulance and Para Medics to our rescue.
I had also saved the last bleeding episode. On showing the Paramedic this his response was to say he must go into Hospital.
He was there but a few hours with bloods only taken when they said he was free to go home.
Yet later the Doctor that had seen him told me there was no bleeding.

Anyway I was so desperate late yesterday afternoon,I rang the Cancer Ward direct and spoke to the Secretary of the Doctor whom had treated him very well previously and had actually set up the Blood Transfusion.
Unfortunately for us she is on leave this week.
However on pouring out the whole miserable story and begging for some help, informing her that my dearest was going into the Medical unit next door today for this Blood Transfusion and asking could the Doctor on call visit him there.
Within 15 minutes she had rang me back saying yes a Doctor from the Cancer Ward would be visiting him.
He left for the Hospital via Ambulance early this morning.
About an hour later I had a phone call from Urology Department wanting to book him for Bladder tests next week,so obviously something is moving in the right direction.
Friends have been urging me to phone for a home visit from the surgery daily until someone calls.
Everyon e that knows are deeply appalled,in fact one friend was about to get phoning himself,on my behalf yesterday.........but I know the whole story inside out and am best placed to deal with this.

I do take your point though about reporting this nightmarish treatm ent to higher authority.............I certainly do not want any other person going through all this added trauma.

Quite honestly I really do not know how my dear one can continue this fight, yet deeply ill and so terribly weak,he continues to hold on and goes on giving of his all.

Thank you for allowing me to talk and get this mess off my chest.
I appreciate your different comments and advice, believe me I also listen to all you suggest.
Sorry for monopolising your great thread dear Doodle.

Grammaretto Wed 21-Apr-21 11:41:40

Thanks for the update Panache It must be so exhausting for you, let alone MrP.
I hope that the transfusion will work wonders and get his spirits back up.
Don't worry about speaking on here. We all have our problems and should all feel free as we want to be to share anything whatever it is. A trouble shared and all that.

I agree this whole episode should be recorded to spare a repeat. When you (or a friend) can write it all down, make sure your MP gets a copy.

Grammaretto Wed 21-Apr-21 11:44:23

Frustrating day so far. Hanging on the phone to the gas people and the plumber. Searching for missing documents. (again)
I planted some potatoes and some lemon pips.
I think this proves I am an optimist. lunatic

Doodle Wed 21-Apr-21 13:53:10

Panache you are not monopolising the thread. You are one of us and we care what you are going through. Please keep posting whenever you feel up to it. We are thinking of you both all the time.
I’m pleased someone at last has listened to you and MrP will be able to see a cancer Doctor today. The fact they now want bladder tests done does sound as though they are being more thorough. So glad you had the courage to keep fighting for him and get some action.
Please take care. Much love and a big one of Cherry’s cwtchs.x

Doodle Wed 21-Apr-21 13:58:53

Mamissimo my jab is being done by a chiropodist. I am very disappointed I’m not getting a fireman too ?
Grammaretto any luck with the gas people yet? I was doing the same thing when our boiler stopped working. I had to phone 7 times until I got through to someone who finally understood that no, we couldn’t wait 2 months for an engineer to visit.
I hope your planting proves fruitful. Jeeves would like some lemons for the Gin and tonic ?
I feel out of sorts today. Toothache and acid reflux last night and toothache and nausea today. Due to have our 2nd jab tomorrow so hope I’m not going down with something.
I am cooking Cumberland sausages for dinner tonight so hope that will make me feel better ??

Mamissimo Wed 21-Apr-21 17:47:04

Doodle....I read your post as sending Grammaretto one of Cherry's big sandwiches.....I shall go to Specsavers forthwith....?

Mamissimo Wed 21-Apr-21 17:47:59

Er no.....you were sending Panache a big sandwich! Defo time for Specsavers!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 21-Apr-21 19:01:16

Dearest Panache I have no words to describe your treatment, I sincerely hope that someone can help you both in your time of great need thanks

Doodle Wed 21-Apr-21 19:40:56

Mamissiomo with your eyesight and my dyslexia,we certainly make a pair. Big sandwich indeed. ?
Just read a post from Panache in soop’s kitchen. Sounds as though things have been happening today and at last help is at hand.

CherryCezzy Wed 21-Apr-21 20:02:45

Thanks for informing us Doodle, I'll go and read that and come back.

CherryCezzy Wed 21-Apr-21 20:30:18

Panache I hope Mr P's blood transfusion has gone well and will prove to be a boost. I'm so pleased that he was seen by a consultant from the cancer unit whilst he was there. Well done you for "finding and pushing the right button" when those that own, hold and carry the button should have put all the threads together and made sure Mr P"s treatment was thorough and proper action and care was securely in place.

Missedout Wed 21-Apr-21 23:23:34

Panache, I echo all the supporting posts on here and hope that you and Mr P get a chance to be together again soon.
I wish I could give you a hug (or a Cherry cwtch).

Kaimoana Thu 22-Apr-21 02:29:46

It's Earth Day - enjoy the lovely animation:

Grammaretto Thu 22-Apr-21 11:35:30

Lovely animation Kaimoana
I am relieved to hear Panache is now feeling a bit more supported.

Your Hospital experience is similar to mine, when I had to phone and try to get answers from people and accept that one department didn't know what another was doing! The oncology consultant's secretary and one particular nurse became my allies. A quite pompous man in Urology spoke over the heads of DH and me and refused to speak to oncology.

Good news today I have an appointment for my 2nd vaccine and 2 invitations. The plumber turned up quite late last night and repaired one leak (overflow pipe) and diagnosed another 2 problems. (shower element and toilet cistern valve)

I have another commission. Just a small one but it's nice when your work is admired.

Jan16 Thu 22-Apr-21 11:57:07

Good Morning from a glorious sunny day in Norfolk. Kaimoana what a lovely animation - thank you. Hope you’re ok and your new help is an improvement on Hanna although do find it hard that new lady couldn’t make a bed!! Where had she been sleeping.
Pleased to here Panache has finally got the help that her dear man so desperately needed. So hope that the hospital can get him stable so that he can return home.
Must admit I haven’t kept up with all the posts so will look later. Been a funny week really. My daughter and son in law came for the weekend and yes I know it’s not allowed but we have all had both jabs and hadn’t been together since Christmas so we broke the rules! It was lovely to be together again and hopefully the next time most restrictions will be lifted and we can go out for a meal.
DH and I had to go to Norwich hospital on Monday as he has a “nasty” on his forehead that has to be treated. They are doing it by radiotherapy but it means a round trip of 90 miles every day for a month!! Good job we are both happy driving! Don’t think it will start till June so we have squeezed in a trip up to Yorkshire next month. Think the whole world is going there we had such a job booking a cottage but managed it!
Hope *Cherry” is having a quiet time. What a dreadful nightmare that must be.
Anyway will shut up now and look at all the posts I’ve missed. May well be back later!

Doodle Thu 22-Apr-21 12:59:38

Kaimoana I enjoyed the Google Earth day animation thank you. The Deans morning service from Canterbury was filmed in the woods today surrounded by bluebells. After the service they kept the video recording in the woods and the birdsong was wonderful.
DH and I off for our second jabs today and as we are going to be in town we have ordered some cakes to collect from the specialist bakery. Very naughty but we are also getting a cake for “other grandma” who isn’t getting out at all at the moment. We will drop that off in our way home.
Had a delivery from M&S yesterday. Two pairs of trousers both supposedly the same size. One fits the other doesn’t ?
A couple of plain light T shirts and a pretty blouse.
Grammaretto I too was pleased to read Panache’s post in the kitchen. If only help was forthcoming all the time. It all seems to be a bit hit or miss depending on who you get to talk to and how hard you have to fight to get seen.
DH has always had really good treatment from the NHS (perhaps that’s because he’s married to a battle axe ?)
Good your plumber turned up. Hopefully all the problems will be fixed soon.
A new commission. That’s nice to hear. Do you only make things on commission now or do you still dabble and work on things for yourself?
Jan no need to keep up with everything. We all understand that people can’t pop in every day.
How lovely to have a visit from your DD and SIL. Must have been a joy to see them as you’ve been apart so long.
90 miles a day for a month ?. That’s a lot of driving, hope it all goes well.
Now the weathers warming up, a trip to Yorkshire will be nice to look forward to.
Cherry hope you had a peaceful night.

Panache Thu 22-Apr-21 13:49:29

Hopefully the message I posted in Soop`s kitchen will have been enough for you to know things hav e somewhat calmed down with the Cancer Ward team now helping me directly.

My dear man came home shattered following the Blood Transfusion and unfortunately ever since has been both nauseous and very sick etc,so is having a complete day of rest.

Quite frankly the both of us have been taken to the edge ,with my own gall bladder issues kicking in as well.
We can but hope some form of normality will return.

For those whom mentioned Marie Curie nurses,no our county has only our own Paul Sartori Foundation team that does similar work.

Sending love and big thank you to you all.
