Anyone watching live? Wow, just wow.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 26-May-21 16:06:49

Blatantly obvious that he is hedging his bets between Mr.Gove and Mr.Sunak being the next leader of the Conservatives, he has mysteriously forgotten details of eat out to help out along with no mention of Mr.Gove (unless I have missed something, which is more than possible)

Alegrias1 Wed 26-May-21 16:09:02

I think you're right GG13.

Not that long ago many posters on here were disbelieving re his trip to Barnard Castle and he was strongly criticised. Why believe him now? I would take everything he says with a big ‘pinch of salt’. I think he is just being vindictive because he was sacked by the Prime Minister.

I think you have a good point there. I reckon Sunday wins out on that one.

Was just about to write the same re Gove- he worked closely with him on the education reforms of 2014- SPaG test anyone?
Being in league with Gove over anything would make me query his motives now- and the lady ( black hair) now questioning him seems to share our suspicions too, I would say!
She’s just said he’s hedging his bets re new administration run by Sunak- hmm- she’s on the ball!

ayse Wed 26-May-21 16:17:27

Not Sunday- Sunak

Alegrias1 Wed 26-May-21 16:17:51

Why does this keep getting asked?

His story about Barnard Castle was clearly fiction, as could be understood by anyone listening to it. Some of what he is saying today reflects what we have seen with our own eyes over the last 18 months. Some of it doesn't.

Happily the Select Committee doesn't operate on the assumption that Cummings doesn't like Johnson so he's just being vindictive and we won't believe him.

He's clearly a self serving man with an axe to grind. Doesn't mean what he's saying didn't happen.

Haven’t heard anything yet that is proven or can be backed up from him, but the most surprising thing is just how boring he is! I expected some fireworks, but no.
Anyone who has been sacked is suspect when they want to get their say at a later date, it may be true or could be a pack of lies.
Hardly anyone is interested ( in real life.)

Amazing how some think they are above everything. Cummings helped make the rules for lockdown then decided they did not apply to him. Then the puppet master got sacked via the puppet's fiancee and her friends, something he had not really seen coming now he is seeking his revenge, but given Boris's chaotic life (private & public) he will survive. Cummings, his wife and Boris go back a long way to their days in Private Eye, so how much is real and how much is staged for entertainment (ours)!

I don’t see how you can profess to be interested in politics and find this boring.....

Gannygangan Wed 26-May-21 16:30:51

He'll be back

But won’t the press have a lovely time with the odd ‘bomb’ he has dropped- PM not being fit for the job for instance…I’m interested to see how the PM and Hancock wriggle out of the accusations/his opinions that he’s made…

Private Eye? Don’t you mean the Spectator?

mamaa Wed 26-May-21 16:34:26

Don’t like Hunt but that’s a good question re whether Cummings was doing his job properly too…

welbeck Wed 26-May-21 16:38:51

Coastalgran, as i'm sure you know repeating something does not make it true, and i can't bear for Private Eye to be besmirched with these associations.
i think your finger slipped, and meant to type, the spectator.
a very different beast.

What a slimy man. If things were as bad as he said, why would he not tell the public, he should have called it out at the time but didn’t ad he was gleefully filing he dossier. He should have resigned and said how it was. He should his character, when he told bare faced lies, broke the lockdown rules, made up a totally implausible story, never apologised for it, he was too a arrogant to do what the rest of us were doing, all the time, filling his box, getting his ammunition ready. Would you trust him to take the bins out?. You can’t turn your back on a liar, or a coward. It is very clever being wise after the event, the Pandemic was a once in a lifetime thing, there have been mistakes but we have learnt from them. Would you rather Corbin managed it? This is soon to be whinging I get, we are not through it yet, but all around the opposition are ready to pounce, pity they have all the right ideas after the event, hiding in the background like a groom at a shotgun wedding.

lemongrove Wed 26-May-21 16:40:02

I think the general public are more than happy with how the PM has done his job, certainly regarding the mass vaccinations.
Dom’s witterings ( yes, boring!)? will be a nine day wonder.

welbeck Wed 26-May-21 16:40:21

was cummings sacked. he says he resigned.

Alegrias1 Wed 26-May-21 16:43:31

And that's why we're in this mess. I'm not sure that the families of the 127,000 would be happy though.

welbeck Wed 26-May-21 16:44:40

one of the early-ish casualties of the covid was cummings' uncle, sir john laws, former lord justice of appeal.
i was acquainted with his wife many years ago, mrs laws.
it was just after sir john's obituary appeared, that cummings was seen literally running away from downing street, en route to county durham.
maybe he was spooked, and wanted to be sure his wife/son had family support if he went down with it ? who knows.
