Times article claim that Waspi women are tone deaf and should read the room
How do you feel about cameras on housing?
Scientists have published a letter in the Lancet, saying that they have 5 main concerns over the governments plans for unmitigated infection.
I have taken this from John Campbell’s site.
First - disproportionately affecting children and young people
There are 17 million people with no covid protection.
Exponential growth will continue until millions more people are infected
This will leave hundreds of thousands of people with long term illness and disability
Risks leaving a generation with ill health.
Second - transmission in schools will lead to educational disruption.
There should be strict mitigation in schools and eventual vaccination of children.
Important for clinically vulnerable children and socially vulnerable children.
Third - emergent of vaccine resistant mutations, with their potential spread.
Fourth - there will significant impact on exhausted clinicians.
There is no break yet between infection and hospital admission.
Rising case numbers will inevitably mean more hospital admissions.
Millions of people are waiting for procedures and many will die waiting.
Fifth
Deprived communities are very exposed.
The deprived and marginalised will be disproportionately affected.
Given that vaccine offers the same protection and herd immunity, the governments strategy is unethical and illogical.
The U.K. government must reconsider its current strategy and take urgent steps to protect people and children.
We believe that the U.K. government is embarking on a dangerous and unethical experiment, and we call on it to pause its planned endings of all mitigation on 19 July.

Heard Jeremy Hunt on Today prog this morning and he was talking much more sense than present Health Minister. Israel now experiencing more cases apparently despite high vacc rate and thinking of re imposing some restrictions. They are vaccinating 12 year +.
Casual sums it up I think.
So both Health Ministers, Hancock and Javid have caught the virus. Just about sums up this governments approach to the virus doesn’t it….
Well, Sajid Javid has tested positive now, despite 2 jabs. Mild symptoms apparently, but just shows no one is immune. Ironic really!
Looking on GN and MN and other social media, it seems that there are many people who will be happy to accept, like NT, that it must be okay if the government says so.
We'll just have to keep out of their way, as much as possible, and await developments.
Of course many people can't keep out of the way of maskless others on public transport and in workplaces.
I’ve had a reply from the National trust and they say they are just following government guidelines but that they do care about the safety of their staff and members. That hand sanitiser will be available, everywhere will be kept thoroughly clean and that people will be advised to wear face covering in crowded rooms. I pointed out that hand sanitiser is not going to stop people catching an airborne virus in rooms that are crowded and where social distancing has been stopped.
MayBee70 I think that any older/vulnerable people who go to NT properties etc, in the conditions they are about to have, would be putting themselves in harm's way.
I'd expect that waiting a bit will show huge increases in infections and a rapid return of restrictions.
(Not lockdown, but sensible restrictions.)
Thank you hugshelp.
That is very alarming and I hope the UK government can be persuaded not to act so recklessly in Monday.
Unfortunately, many people would rush back to 'normal' now anyway, because that is the expectation they were given.

It is long and it is alarming. When they start talking about the effects of long covid on children's brains it is very scary. Also the hospitalisations and deaths of some who are vaccinated.
We have to keep a record by signing a sheet to say what we've done.
Luckily, "my people" prefer me to be actively involved with them, rather than seeing a view of my backside as my head is in their oven.

My company are exploiting it for all they're worth - giving us lists of cleaning to do, to reduce the risk.
Because everyone knows covid lives inside people's ovens.
I think you need to keep a record of all the things your company are asking you to do.

I always wear full ppe for my work as a carer, and I'm expecting that not to change any time soon.
Good to hear. I expect with private care companies there will be huge variation if they aren't given clear legal rules.
I always wear full ppe for my work as a carer, and I'm expecting that not to change any time soon.
My DD has an immune disorder and is usually wheelchair bound, but bedbound atm. Her carer today had a mask round her chin, and it is unclear whether the carers will even have to wear masks from Monday (working with vulnerable patients in the community.) The carer also divulged she had done a lateral flow test which was positive but because a PCR test came back negative the next day the care company told her to work. The carer's brother has just had a positive test. The carer was symptomatic of something.
My Dd is double vaxed due to her health issues but I don't know how much protection it has given her. We wait and hope.
National Trust have just contacted us to say they’re scrapping all covid rules on Monday but ‘advise’ people to wear masks indoors. No pre booking required so indoor spaces will be full of non mask wearing people. Given that, in my experience, NT visitors tend to be older people I think they should do everything possible to safeguard them. And yes, I know people are going to say that, if someone’s old and vulnerable they would be wearing a mask anyway but I’d prefer it if there was less danger of asymptomatic or presymptomatic people spreading the virus in these places. I thought better of the NT.

What do they mean "know who they are soon"?
It's not as if some of us just chose to wear masks and bullied the government to make everyone else do it.
I know. But those who are believing this stuff are blaming the vaccinated and mask wearers for their lack of freedom. It's very unfair, but it's what they are saying.
It's one of the things that was said to me when I was threatened to not get the vaccine. One of the people who refuses to have anything to do with me now says everyone who has the vaccine is evil and they "Can't be around THAT type of energy" . It's like they think we are unclean! The brainwashing is horrific!
AND YET THEY think WE are brainwashed SHEEP.

I am afraid I find the policing of face mask exemption as worrying as I find the policing of disabled parking. The impact that has on those with disabilities should not be overlooked.

OnwardandUpward - what you said here is interesting: "I hope the government passes a law to prevent discriminations, harassment etc"
Given that they stoked the fires of racism and online / offline abuse, I think that is highly unlikely.
This is so depressing.
Yes I said it because of reading awful comments in the "hate mail" about how the loss of freedom was all the fault of those who wear nappies on their faces and how everyone will know who they are soon.
It's very concerning and I was thinking of writing to Sajid. What do you all think? People should be protected from hate- and there is so much division about already.

I have suggested that not wearing a mask in company is about the level of not using a hanky when you sneeze - basically quite disgusting. This hits the nail on the head when it comes to flaunting your "freedom of choice". I wonder if those pushing this know exactly how ridiculous they appear.
From California with idiocy.
What is idiotic about it Lin52? One group of peoplewho have no intention of their own so-called "freedom" being temporarily sidelined are being shown what would happen if we all treated others like that.
So where is the idiocy? Why would it matter where it came from. Have you some sort of prejudice against Californians?

Do you mean this ? It’s brilliant
Not you PippaZ, the article.
