Criminally Negligent: What Jacob Rees Mogg Said! ?

I am speechless.

Can someone please link to what shite he came out with today.

According to him the Tories don’t need to wear masks because ‘they all know each other’, and they are ‘fraternal and convivial’.

My extremely vulnerable DH is almost having a breakdown (no exaggeration) because of how things are panning out.

We can’t access the health services that we desperately need because we need to isolate due to the government’s idiocy.

There are hundreds of thousands of people in similar circumstances.

He enjoys winding people up! Best ignored.

The sheer arrogance of the man defies belief. This isn't the first time, as some have already mentioned.

That's rather difficult to do as he is Leader of the House of Commons, not Joe Bloggs in the pub.

I agree. I also think he says such things with a touch of humour which, I know, many people will not 'get'. He's a teaser. Shrug.

Lemongrove deaths are still at manageable levels shock? Are you a government stooge? I doubt than any of the relatives of those who died as a result of the maskless breathing in their direction, having to wait for hours for an ambulance or in an ambulance would agree with you. Would anyone agree with you? Some people have no choice but to go out to work to be able to live and they have to suffer as a result of the government not making face masks mandatory. I've had to stand in crowded trains where the majority don't bother with a mask. Now vast numbers are catching covid, filling up hospital beds, forcing operations to be cancelled... but never mind, it's all manageable!

Baggs Sat 23-Oct-21 10:53:56

This is 'diversity' in action ?

Olive53 Sat 23-Oct-21 10:54:35

Agree Lemongrove, we just have to do what’s best for us, some people want to wear a mask and some don’t
Just get on with your lives, time to start enjoying life again, especially as we’ve all had the vaccine.

He’s patronising in his manner and he’s the worst sort of politician - he’s not remotely interested in we mere mortals but has his own agenda of being PM
As if the current one isnt farcical enough - nothing would surprise me anymore as we live in a very surreal political environment

I’ve always said ...... education is no substitute for basic common sense ..... and how true is that for the whole lot of them ...... totally clueless !!

He is central to the way the country is run.

Humour is it? Looking down on the little people who don't understand his teasing?

He's a git with no sense of responsibility.

Reece-mogg is the very worst example of the Tory party as Angela Rayner is the worst example of the labour party .Mogg is a entitled snob who is totally out of touch with the public. Raynor is a loud mouth washer woman who gives a very bad imagine of a northern working class woman

Actually, he is interested and is a very good constituency MP.

But - he should sometimes engage brain before mouth.

Alegrias1 Sat 23-Oct-21 10:58:44

Oh, I think he engages his brain fully. He knows that what he says appeals to a certain group of people and that it makes him more popular with them.

Someone on this thread who voted for him at the last election was disgusted with what he said and was going to write to him and tell him. I hope she did.

GoldenAge Sat 23-Oct-21 11:08:23

Well they sure are ‘communal’ - PPE contracts for the boys, you scratch my back … illicit romances caught on security camera - what’s new with this lot? JRM is a wealthy, religious misfit and may well be ‘in communion’ with all his Tory mates who he believes are set apart from the rest of us and don’t need to follow guidance - just another example to hold up in front of those who put him in the place where he is now.

cupcake1 Sat 23-Oct-21 11:15:52

He’s a tw*t of the highest order and scary to think he’s a high ranking MP ?

JaneJudge Sat 23-Oct-21 11:20:45

Those of you who are managing your mask wearing, do you work? If you are retired and at home and only socialising with friends you know are careful, surely that is a completely different scenario to those of us who have to work in busy spaces with lots of people (and I imagine shop work etc is much more of risk) and our children are at school, college and university or also working in busy places??

tickingbird Sat 23-Oct-21 11:25:52

I heard on some talk show/podcast - can’t remember, that wearing of masks in Wales is still mandatory and yet they have one of the highest infection rates in the world!

Would any of our Welsh members like to elaborate on this?

I, personally, still wear a mask 80% of the time when in a crowded indoor space. When I don’t it’s because I’ve forgotten to take one with me. I tend to do as I’m instructed by the government but also go by what I’m comfortable with.

Sadly, if you really are extremely clinical vulnerable for several reasons, you really can’t do this.
And the fact that others aren’t being responsible is making it even more difficult.
And some people (my husband and I included, haven’t had their booster yet).
This is really what this thread is about.

Cossy Sat 23-Oct-21 11:26:14

Rees-Mogg is stuck in the dark ages and is typical of this government !

Do we need to learn to live with Covid ? Yes ! Can “friends” carry viruses ? Yes ! Is this government “dithering” once again ? Yes ! We shouldn’t have stopped compulsory masks and social distancing and in my humble opinion we will regret this mid-winter when cases are even higher than today !

I fear this particular cabinet have failed us in so many ways across the last two years !

On the same day there was a heart rending report on Channel 4 news about the strain on NHS staff. These MPs are unable to bring themselves to wear a mask for a couple of hours while they stand and yell/laugh at each other but expect NHS staff to toil away relentlessly month after month with no end in sight for 12 hour shifts and in full PPE. The government's estimate of what is sustainable in terms of human endurance capacity is clearly based on total disinterest, focussed on numbers rather than human resources - which have been dissipated by Covid deaths, Covid related absence due to illness/stress and people leaving the NHS in significant numbers - and/or ignorance. Has Mr Javid spent a day with front line staff in full PPE? That might enlighten him at least.

FannyCornforth Sat 23-Oct-21 11:30:18

And JaneJudge is completely right about busy working environments; working with the public; and schools.
Their are even ECV people at work in risky situations including schools.
It’s about all of us, can’t people see that?

Secondwind Sat 23-Oct-21 11:36:43

He is the epitome of arrogance. He makes much of his faith, yet there is not a Christian bone in his body. Vile man.

Yammy Sat 23-Oct-21 11:38:22

Scones

Scones as in bones smile

Apparently the correct way is dons. Common as muck me.

Where I come from we eat scones as in ones only the pretentious say scones to rhyme with bones and I'm certainly not upper class. It's like that song "let's call the whole thing off"

Cossy Sat 23-Oct-21 11:41:51

Sorry Lemongrove !
lemongrove

kali I shall continue to say what I think...regardless of what you or any other posters say, thanks.
Rees Mogg can speak for himself and do whatever he wants to.
Politicians always will do, just as the general public will do.
he's talking about friends and colleagues not spending the night in a crowded bar, but if he wanted to do that as well, then so be it.There is far too much easy censoring going on.
far too much 'oooh, look what so and so is saying\doing now', at least he was being honest.

He was being completely irresponsible and actually he CANNOT or rather SHOULD NOT do whatever he wants ! Both your and his attitudes stink of “I’m alright Jack!” I have two close friends losing perfectly healthy family members to COVID, my own perfectly healthy cousin in her early fifties is still recovering from long Covid ! This disgraceful government have learnt nothing ! We wear masks to protect both ourselves and others ! It’s not the panacea to all our problems, but it is proven the correct wearing of decent masks DOES indeed cut down the risks of contracting and passing on ANY virus spread by spittle droplets ! It’s hardly rocket science !

I have a CEV husband and elderly Mum, why on earth would I risk their lives ??
