You know, I think there possibly could be close to 100,000 cases a day in the UK.
Spector uses a different way of measuring cases, and as I said above, its a model. But they are usually pretty accurate. So far, so good.
What really gets up my nose is the implications that then come about missing half the cases because they won't change the description of the symptoms, making policy based on flawed data and especially that health professionals with responsibility and accountability are making decisions for god knows what reason, but knowingly lying to the public.
Made by some nice chap in Cumbria who has a way with Zoom and an obsession with aspiration and Ivermectin. He's not a freedom fighter, he's irresponsible.

I think, IMHO, that people should stop getting tested so often. Our local council are offering prizes to people getting tested with no symptoms. It's as if the council want the pandemic to continue forever so that it can be used as an excuse for why nothing is being done. Nearly all council workers are still at home and the libraries still haven't fully opened to pre-pandemic hours. The vaccines do not stop anyone from passing the virus on so we have to learn to live with it.
…I think you don’t understand why p
They want people testing.
Good. Have a nice time.
Before you go, maybe you can explain to everyone else on here how the nurse educator is really good at using other people's data and pretending he has something to do with it, has an obsession about aspiration and has suddenly become very defensive about the BBC questioning his veracity.
Then about how people who have built up a reputation are happy to use the data the way they want to to mislead the public about the real situation, and make them think the government are lying to them? While saying that the Zoe data agrees with the ONS data? ONS is government, remember.
No, probably not.

Yes growstuff I am full aware that Sunday and Monday figures tend to me lower, they have been this way since the onset of the pandemic.
Indeed! So the figures you posted aren't very meaningful.
They are just as meaningful as any other figures posted on GN when taken into context.
In fact that are far more meaningful than the OP 100,000 a day which the U.K. is no where near at this present time.

I have no comments.
Irresponsibility beyond all words.
I see we're back on aspiration.
I see we're back to accusing others of not knowing what they're talking about.
My partner is sitting next to me. He's not a member of GN, so I showed him this thread. I won't repeat what he's just said
and am gong off to enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

Has anybody else read the JCVI minutes, which have just been released? They confirm that the intention was/is to infect children in an attempt to achieve herd immunity. One member refers to schools as an "opportunity" for children to be infected.
I wrote to my MP and accused the government of this. I must dig out her reply and re read it.

Yes growstuff I am full aware that Sunday and Monday figures tend to me lower, they have been this way since the onset of the pandemic.
There has been a lag or 3-4 weeks in mortality rate and hospitalisations since the beginning of the pandemic so if this continues they should begin reducing in the next 10 days or so.

This graph shows the trends in cases and deaths up to yesterday. You can see quite clearly that cases are decreasing slightly, whereas deaths are increasing slightly. It's impossible to draw any firm conclusions. Cases could be decreasing as a result of half-term, but we won't know until children have returned to school. Hopefully, vaccinations in this age group will soon have an effect. If you look more closely at the ages of cases, the group currently most infected are the age of most parents of school age children.
Someone in my village has caught it from a friend who caught it from his school age child. No one knows how yet how many others may have caught it from the social event they attended.
PS. You can also see that Sunday's reported deaths are always lower than the average.

Latest figures for Wales, Scotland and N.Ireland, just waiting for England’s
They're always low on Sundays. Wait until Tuesday and/or look at the weekly averages for a more accurate picture.
I look at all the figures growstuff the trend has been downwards for a week now.
Which figures do you look at? Cases have been going down, but hospitalisations have been increasing slightly.
This article in the BMJ gives a possible reason for the recent disparity between the ZOE and official figures:
www.bmj.com/content/375/bmj.n2619
It also explains why Spector thinks there could be nearly 100,000 cases.

They're not falling. He's right.
