Times article claim that Waspi women are tone deaf and should read the room
Have you even unknowingly put your foot in it?
Just that really. A new coronavirus variant has been discovered in South Africa, and has already spread to other countries, including Hong Kong. It is reported that scientists are very concerned about this variant because it has more than 30 mutations which may make it more transmissible and enable it to evade vaccinations more easily.
Should we be worried?

I've never sanitised shopping (or hands!), worn a mask or stopped doing any of my normal everyday life. I've met friends & family hugged, laughed and made precious memories and will continue to do so
I've also just had major life changing surgery all without the need to be tested for something I have no symptoms of!!
Please I implore you, for the sake of the children, take off your masks, turn off your TV's, stop buying into the 24/7 propoganda and start living the life you choose
I choose Freedom and Love

Tell that the the GN members who have lost family to Covid or who have been seriously ill themselves with it.
Then enjoy your Freedom and Love - by yourself

Before you believe this latest fairy story, you need to check out the truth. Africa, as a continent, has blown a hole in the COVID theories. It has an across the board vaccination rate of only 6%, yet low case rates and deaths. So the bed wetting public need to be convinced that Africa is actually teeming with disease, whereas the complete opposite is the truth. Botswana, which is supposed to be the source of this super deadly Xmas spoiling variant, has a 7 day rolling death count of ZERO. Yes, that’s right - ZERO. If you don’t believe me, check it for yourself. Yesterday Zimbabwe recorded 27 new cases and 1 death. South Africa recorded 2465 new cases and 37 deaths. Now compare that to the U.K. figures, and they’ve put these countries on the red list. It is to scare you, and they know that people (in the main) don’t actually look for themselves, or even have any thoughts other than the ones they’re fed every morning by Dr Killary.
Wake up, or this won’t be the last Xmas or anything else you’ll have taken from you.
When I read comments that start with or include sneering contempt for "people" (I'm surprised you didn't refer to us as "sheeple"), I tend to ignore them.
On a personal level, I'm always prepared to listen to others with opposing views - including facts and figures which can be researched. If you don't listen, you don't learn.
But... fairy story ... bed-wetting public... Seriously? Is that the way you want to spread information?
And being admonished to "wake up" is always the clincher for me.
An otherwise interesting post - shame about the contempt shown.
For ‘Love and Freedom’ I read ‘Foolhardiness and Gullibility’ I’m afraid.
I would say that I am concerned, mainly because the government have been so behind the curve the fact that they are taking preventative action may mean that there are serious implications if this variant becomes rife before the winter is out. But I guess we will have to wait and see.
Well anewstart if you had seen our teacher daughter aged 41y off on long term sick for 9 weeks with long-covid after contracting the virus mid-September you would not be so complacent. Sorry but true. She has since been double jabbed and is awaiting a booster in due course.
She is frightened of ever getting it again ‘I have never been so poorly in my life mum and so scared what it was doing to my heart and lungs’ was the text she sent me.
Remember how anxious we all were coming into winter last year with the vaccine on the horizon but not quitebeing rolled out against this new deadly virus?
I’m not in denial about it. Sorry.
I've also just had major life changing surgery all without the need to be tested for something I have no symptoms of!!!
I'm not sure how that happened as patients are given Covid tests before surgery and other procedures and routinely during a stay in hospital.
I'm assuming we're all over the age of 50 here which gives most of us a 99.998% chance of recovering from 'covid'. Even those over 70 have a 99.97% chance of a full recovery. Pretty good odds to me and I'm not generally a betting person!
I would like to know the source of your statistics please anewstart.
Thank you.

Let’s not panic. Too little information as yet.
Best we can do is continue to be cautious. Stick with hands, face, space. Don’t go in to crowded places if you don’t have to.
Isolate as best you can if you are immunowhatsit.
What else can we do. No point in getting worked up. Fingers crossed it won’t be as bad as we think and that our scientists continue with their amazing work to vaccinate against and to treat this bloody virus.
I totally agree, and think it would help if mask wearing was made mandatory, including for members of the cabinet.

I had a similar message from my son in South Africa last year. He could not believe how ill he felt.
I hope your daughter is recovering.
Apologies - my last post didn’t make clear that said daughter got Covid in September last year. Before we knew for sure about vaccines but were hopeful.
It's my daughter who was confirmed Covid today and feeling truly rotten. She is 47 and in excellent health- and has been vaccinated- so let's keep fingers crossed.
Aw she is totally well this year thank you Dickens. That said a photo I have of her on her Christmas birthday (in the garden on her 40th birthday) she looks so washed out. She went back to work full time the following week. Mentally she was shot as well as physically. She is not a worry-wart but would go to bed scared and in the night would be terrified that she might die and leave her two babies without a mum.
Those were the times pre-vaxx.
We forget them at our peril.
She had no underlying conditions either.
This is the age group I have been hearing about who seem to have Covid at the moment.
Many schoolchildren seem to have had it here or have it so perhaps they are passing it to parents. Primary age children don't have to wear masks in school here.
Urmstongran hope your DD feels better soon, and Kali2 I hope your DD recovers quickly without after-effects.
Thinking of you and your Dd Kali
Hope your daughter gets well soon Kali2. It is a worry while you wait for improvement.

Well said Cali
??? a thousand times.
My daughter caught covid not long after her first vaccination. She was very ill for weeks but thinks the vaccine kicked in and stopped it getting any worse.
I find posts like anewstart's urging people to throw caution to the wind irresponsible. She is welcome to live her life as she wishes but not tell others, rudely, how to live theirs.
I think the phrase “we are not as green as we are cabbage looking” comes to mind describing us lot anewstart.
You are a disgrace anestewart.
Still copying and pasting from conspiracy theorist websites anewstart?
Thanks Dickens. It seems to be the case that the surgery can’t handle Pfizer (apparently the appropriate vaccine for the boosters as we had AZ jabs) as it doesn’t have facilities to keep it at the necessary sub-zero temperature. They are ‘hoping’ to arrange for the local cottage hospital to administer boosters ‘later this month’ and say they will get in touch. We rarely go out, wear masks, sanitise hands and wait patiently! Lots of us in the same boat round here!
All crossed for the earliest possible real life hugs with your family.
So you think you are clever anewstart My French born daughter who is working in the NHS, was on the front line from the first day, working long days and weekends, she caught covid twice because of people like you not caring two hoots and infecting others.
She has just gone back to work, part time, after being three months off with PTS, nightmares, not being able to go out of the house nor being with people cause by treating people hoping they would survive but seeing so many deaths.
You could be the asymptomatic carrier.
Pity Fairy Joybell isn't able to discuss her theories about the disadvantages of vaccines and stringent sanitary arrangements with all the people who suffered from illnesses like Spanish Flu, diptheria, smallpox, rubella, TB etc , but of course they are dead.
Is this the sort of tripe these people actually believe?
So the WHO, the ones that made no attempt to contain the virus in China now seem to be accusing countries of a bit of a knee jerk reaction to this new variant. Thank goodness it is being taken seriously this time. And about time we got more vaccines to third world countries.
