Ha ha. I’ve just re read it and see how that was. Can’t understand Dr who either, anymore than I can understand how many of those were let on a flight if not tested, ?.

Just heard there are six cases in Scotland.

And still some people on the Conservative back benches aren’t wearing masks in parliament….

Interesting fact is that Scottish cases do not vary much from the English ones though we have been wearing masks in shops restaurants etc. all the time . I have done one bus journey where most people ignored the rule .

If people even in Scotland are ignoring the rule, that's probably why the rate of Scottish and English cases are similar.

In any case, the driver of English cases (and probably Scottish cases) is in schools, towards which the government is continuing to turn a blind eye. There's even evidence that the intention is to infect as many children as possible.

My experience in Scotland is different from Floradora. Most people I see are mask wearers. In my experience, it tends to be young people in their twenties, who appear to be ignoring the rule.

I noticed about 85% to 95% compliance in wearing masks yesterday in Sainsbury’s, definitely more mask wearing yesterday compared to earlier visits to Sainsbury’s. Today in M+S I would say 100% compliance.

Its really sad seeing 5yr olds wearing masks, as my granddaughter does. What will they remember of their short childhood.

growstuff, I did not say, I did not approve of mask wearing, quite the opposite. I was commenting on nanna8's post, offering another example. Some of the teenage girls have developed very sore faces.
Of course, we need to take all precautions possible, I am an advocate of mask wearing!

The really young ones were exempt though. and I think that is how it should be nanna8, that children under 8 or 9 years should be exempt. As Elspeth45 implies, they are otherwise losing their childhood. My 9 year old has just had covid and 10 days off school, but she wasn't in the slightest bit ill. Her younger brother, 6 years, who has an autoimmune blood clotting disorder, didn't catch it from her and carried on attending school. So in the more serious case, wearing a mask would have made no difference at all.

Of course they're not losing their childhood from mask-wearing. They're having adult anxiety foisted on them.

This is one of my daughter’s reasons for being anti-face masks. I also came across two nurses reporting the same problem. It’s very difficult for small people to have to wear masks continually and many people suffer from rashes. They can also become infected.

As seems clear most children only have a mild illness or are a symptomatic. Older relatives like me need to be careful around their younger relatives. All the adults collecting children from my grandchildren’s school wear their masks as per the schools instructions.

I’ve continued to wear a mask on public transport and whilst shopping so the new regulations don’t bother me at all. I’m glad to see that most people yesterday were masked up on the buses.

I listened in to a conversation about vaccines on the bus. One lady was talking to her daughter and had decided to go to a drop in centre as appointments were not needed for 2nd jabs or boosters.

Many aspects of their childhood, in terms of their ability to develop, socialise and thrive emotionally could well be being lost. And we just wont know for many years to come.

ayse, my friend, a nurse, has a permanent 'mask rash' - but never complains about it. It's just so trivial compared to her nightmares - as she's seen so many deaths every day at work. She has to wear a surgical mask, so no option of a chlorine-free fabric one. The chlorine and damp cause the problem for her.

People are so good at adapting to change, though, including children, so all efforts to slow down the infection rate are worthwhile, surely? There's not much sense in wearing masks in shops etc. but not in classrooms.

I find the idea of anywhere enforcing masks on primary school children ridiculous fortunately I don't believe it happens in the UK

I can see the sense in this when it was masks I'm pubs they were only worn to enter the pub once you sat down they came off. Now pubs and restaurants are pretty full I cannot see how wearing one just to enter the building will make that much difference

Lol Josianne I think if a pub is having a party like that then enforcing face masks is going to be futile and the Government realise this
It was easier with reduced numbers and social distancing
