Hello folks
Just received the above for my husband so that he can have the new antivirals if necessary (please God it isn’t)
Thought that I’d share

Fanny, that is brilliant news. At last those who are CEV in England are getting a bit more support.

I had a letter from NHS Scotland today, with updated info for those of us who are CEV. Nothing I didn't know already, as I'm an avid reader of the news.

At last they are advising those who are immunocompromised to get a Third Primary and a booster in three months. A bit late, to say the least.

Absolutely nothing about the new anti virals, I live in hope!

That is good news smile

FannyCornforth Wed 22-Dec-21 12:36:09

Thanks both! smile
This is completely out of the blue, so I hope that you get something along the same lines too Mary

That’s good Fanny

I got the email too, and need to let the NHS know if I haven't received the PCR test by 10th January.

I wasn't on the ECV list when it was drawn up, so I'm not 100% sure why I qualify now, but it's reassuring to know that if my precautions fail and I get infected I should get immediate treatment.

My DH has just taken a Lateral Flow Test which was positive!
I'm immunocompromised and have had the email about having a PCR test to keep at home but it's a bit late, no PCR in the post yet - in fact no post today at all!

Early morning LFT was negative for me but I'm not well either. DH has drive-through PCR test booked for tomorrow morning and, because I asked, they will test me too.

I've just cancelled our Christmas turkey order - the butcher's shop were really good about it and asked if they could deliver anything and to let them know if they could help. They were so kind.

I can't believe I don't have Covid too - the timing is awful and I'm a bit worried.

Missedout, I am so upset for you, after trying hard to stay informed and keep yourself safe.
If you have Covid, I hope you get quick access to anti viral. ?

Doodledog Wed 22-Dec-21 17:46:35

Missedout Why not ring 111 and explain the situation. They might be able to get you a PCR test so that you can access the antibody treatment in time to make a difference. The fact that you are on the list should help.

Thank you so much for posting this Fanny, my DH is CEV, I told him and said "wonder why you haven't had an email. Needless to say, he has had the email but apparently had turned his notifications off (doh!)
Missedout sending all good wishes flowers

Well, I have taken the bull by the horns and emailed the Chief Medical Officer in Scotland, to ask if NHS Scotland intends to follow suit.
I wonder if he will respond.

I sent for a pcr test on the gov.uk site. It came the next day I did the test and posted it back got result two days later..negative.....I had a bad cold at the time....better now

Calistemon Wed 22-Dec-21 20:29:44

I have no idea what is happening in Wales!

Thank goodness FannyCornforth ? he won't need them.

My DH also received the letter, and it felt like the weight on our shoulders lifted just a little.

Missed out, I do hope that you and your husband are both ok. I’m glad your getting a test tomorrow. My husbands letter said that if he needs to send off a PCR test, he should make sure he has put his NHS number and postcode on and check them carefully to enable the NHS to contact him re treatment if it is positive, so maybe that would help?

Good luck with it all.

My husband has also received the letter. Reassuring that he is in the system as CEV as he has only been CEV for about a year. The letter said a PCR test would be sent to us in case it is needed, but it hasn't arrived yet, hoping it won't be needed but fingers crossed it arrives soon.

FannyCornforth Thu 23-Dec-21 08:46:14

Missedout I hope that you’re doing okay; this must be so upsetting for you thanks

Calistemon thank you, I hope that you and everyone else get some more clarity and reassurance very soon

Mary the testing kit was sent from Edinburgh, I don’t know if that’s relevant!

FannyCornforth Thu 23-Dec-21 08:47:10

We didn’t get an email at all! It’s all over the shop isn’t it?

FannyCornforth Thu 23-Dec-21 08:47:38

Or indeed a letter!

dragonfly46 Thu 23-Dec-21 08:47:40

Interesting, I too am classed CEV and have been receiving regular letters, texts and emails but not had anything about aPCR test.
I am not worried as I finished chemo 2 years ago so don’t regard myself as CEV anymore. I wonder if the letter will come as my DH is far more at risk than I am being diabetic.

tickingbird Thu 23-Dec-21 08:56:29

Missedout. You should ring 111 and inform them as you need the treatment within 5 days of contracting the virus I believe.

I received my email a couple of days ago. I felt slightly relieved to know if I get it I can get help.

Rosie51 Thu 23-Dec-21 08:57:22

I was on the ECV list but haven't had anything. It would be so reassuring to have that safety net although I am as careful as possible. They were a bit late with my original letter telling me I must shield so perhaps I'm towards the back of the queue for the PCR test too, fingers crossed.

FannyCornforth Thu 23-Dec-21 09:03:41

Rosie I wouldn’t assume that.
It does seem so hit and miss.
DH hasn’t had any correspondence at all about being CEV since the end of lock down. No texts, letters or email.
I couldn’t even get him registered for the Third Primary Vaccine.
The test kit arriving yesterday was completely out of the blue

Mamissimo Thu 23-Dec-21 09:22:13

The email is only going to a small percentage of the CEV who are immunosuppressed because of specific medications and treatments which prevented the vaccines from taking full effect. Getting it is a bit of a two edged sword because while I'm pleased that there's a potential lifesaver available to me, I'm sad that the lifesaving drugs I take have created the situation. Thank heavens for clever doctors!

tickingbird Thu 23-Dec-21 09:30:46

I’m not on any drugs or treatment.

FannyCornforth Thu 23-Dec-21 09:46:29

Massimo ah, so it’s to do with being immune suppressed as opposed to being ECV.
I don’t think that I realised that
