Do you think his exemption from covid vaccination is a bit odd? I understand Australians are not happy about letting him into the country and the likelihood is that he will be booed when he plays according to Andrew Castle.

Not sure if this has been posted but it appears to show that Novak could have thought this was why he was exempt.

But that's not the Government's stance so it's back to Serbia with you Novak. Or USA.

I’m surprised the French sports minister has said he’ll be allowed to play the French Open with Macron’s view on the unvaccinated.

I do not believe that he would have had to quarantine if he had been vaccinated (as mentioned upthread) as Victoria is not demanding any quarantine now - we are double vaxxed and boosted, and have recently had Covid and hopefully will be visiting our daughter very soon. The sort of exemption we need is based on being parents of an Australian Citizen. That said I agree with all of you that he should be sent home. My SiL has a ticket for the Australian Open and he will definitely be booing Novax if he is allowed to stay and play!

Which was a misinterpretation of the Government rules by the AO organisers, apparently.

I’m in Australia Our Government is so unreliable
Just a few months ago they let a whole football team and their families into Queensland
Now they are doing the opposite to another high ranking athlete
Is you ask me they don’t know their ar..e from their head!!!!

Just remind me how many deaths Australia has had from covid compared to the 150,000 + deaths in the U.K….

It does look crazy when you put it like that. Which way do you support Tamayra?
Would you let them in or keep them out?
I suppose the ‘keep them out’ arose from the public reaction to the ‘let them in’ event, so you could say that at least they have learnt something.

Convenient he allegedly had Covid on the 16th December, hope he wasn’t seen out and about for 10days then.

I think there is a definite side effect of the vax. It seems to be turning all women into Stepford Wives.

Aveline Sat 08-Jan-22 09:39:50

I dare you to say that to our many and varied faces effalump!

Must say I was stupefied yesterday to read in yesterday’s Times that ND’s father said his son was ‘being crucified like Jesus’.
Honestly, in MN parlance, WT actual F??

Examples ?

He took the test on the 16th December. Presumably he wasn’t thinking of going to Australia before that as he wouldn’t have thought he qualified for an exemption before then?
I applaud the speed with which his visa was granted.
My friend had to jump through a lot of hoops before she got hers. She is going to visit her son. It took quite a long time.

How utterly convenient that Djokovic got Covid on 16th December!

Tamayra you'll find that many people on Gransnet know more about Australia and how well they are coping with this pandemic than people who live there!!

What I do know is only from what is reported to me from family there but the situation sounds disorganised to say the least.
Actually, the term used by someone unable to get a pcr test for 4 days was that it is f*****g shambles. Apologies.

LauraNorderr Sat 08-Jan-22 11:38:50

Effalump, I’m so glad you posted, that explains why I have been getting up at 7 am, donning my pretty, frilly apron, picking up the feather duster and removing cobwebs as I cook my darling husband his favourite breakfast.
After I have cleaned the whole house and taken out the bins I massage his poor tense shoulders before calling at the dry cleaners to collect his suit.
I would say more but my darling is waiting for his lunch, I must set the tray as he would like it in front of the tv today.

Am-aze-ing! As a well known Australian might say?

Calistemon Sat 08-Jan-22 11:45:36

LauraNorderr
Neither of my vaccines nor my booster seemed to have worked yet then; my breakfast plate and cup are still in front of me, DH just made me a coffee.
But I have been very busy chatting on the phone - it's been one of those mornings!

maddyone Sat 08-Jan-22 11:48:42

Me too Calistemon, obviously my vaccinations didn’t work either. My husband brought me a coffee in bed shock and he’s just made me a second coffee, but I am drinking it downstairs, just!

maddyone Sat 08-Jan-22 11:50:23

Laura, where did you get your frilly apron? If we’re offered a fourth vaccine it might work and then I’ll need an apron such as the fetching one you’re wearing today.

LauraNorderr Sat 08-Jan-22 12:04:06

I made my frilly apron myself of course. No self respecting Stepford wife would buy such a thing.

maddyone Sat 08-Jan-22 12:19:33

Oh no! I’ll have to get the sewing machine out.

LauraNorderr Sat 08-Jan-22 12:27:20

Make sure you only sew while he’s out playing golf. They don’t like noise to disturb their afternoon nap.
Crochet, embroidery and knitting are allowed in the evening as they are silent tasks.
