After all this time...have picked up covid...feeling absolutely terrible...its like a butterfly..flitting around...lower back pain, intermittent headaches, legs and shoulders painful...and a temperature....but so cold that I'm in bed fully dressed, hot water bottle and a woolly hat on....look like a bag lady .....I'm nearly 70, fit, this is the first time I've ever spent a whole day in bed!!....
To all the covid warriors. Get well soon?
I tested positive on Wednesday whilst away for a week in Cambridgeshire, my daughter and 2 grandsons all tested positive the same day and now her partner has too. Most of her friends and many children at the school/nursery have had it recently. Just have a head cold and bunged up with a slight headache but I'd managed to avoid it for 2 years. Thankfully have all vaccinations
There are large numbers getting it in this area ATM, including many of us 70 plus people who had avoided it so far. I tested positive on Monday and DH was due to go for a procedure in hospital. He rang to say that I had Covid and was told he could still come so he attended for his appointment, which was a couple of days later telling them again about my positive test. It all went ahead - pleased about that as it was an investigation for possible bowel cancer. All seemed clear fingers crossed. However, he tested positive the following morning. We both have symptoms of a heavy cold and have had difficulty keeping our temperatures down. However, yesterday, feeling a bit better, I thought I would try a short walk. A hundred yards up the street and I realised that was not possible - my legs would hardly support me. So I think it's the physical weakening that flu causes but the heavy cold symptoms can fool you into thinking that it is just a cold.
Two staff and two residents tested positive on Wednesday in the care home where my daughter’s fiancé works. He took over and cared for the infected residents all day just before his holiday leave, He is staying away from my daughter as she is vulnerable. His brother whom he has not seen since the start of covid is due to come from his home in France for a fortnight next week. His brother is older and doesn’t keep too well. It would not be good if his brother got covid while here. He will just have to keep testing and wait and see. How difficult it all is. I too am vulnerable. That covid is back in care homes is very distressing. They were covid free for a long time. The residents are now vaccinated. But many are very frail. This new Omicron 2 is so infectious. At least in Scotland our government has retained masks in shops. I cannot see that wearing masks indoors in public places restricts life in any way and it is so helpful for more vulnerable people, Allowing them to have a little freedom too. It has to be a government rule because there are always some people like the lady above who said she would only wear them if required to. I fear it is only a matter of time until a more virulent and equally infectious covid mutates. I hope I am wrong.
This is from the ZOE study - not a good time to be declaring the 'pandemic is over'.
We clearly have the stupidest government ever.
covid.joinzoe.com/post/covid-cases-rocket-to-new-high
In the past 24 hours there have been over 240,000 cases - the official Government stats are so way out it beggars belief, and we don't yet have the ONS figures.
I wonder if they will be published.
You poor thing .
I'm so sorry .
I hope that you get better soon .
Pre - covid I had pneumonia and pleurisy .
I crawled around for weeks .
I had three courses of antibiotics and steroids .
My doctor said, I think that you have some underlying health problems .
All the tests were negative .
One of my friends suggested some old fashioned chicken soup loaded with garlic .
I lightly fried some chicken with onions and garlic then added a stock cube ,water and boiled it .
I strained off the liquid added fresh vegetables and sipped it .
And after a few days I was back to normal !
Worked for me !
isn't it good to know the NHS and Government official list of key symptoms is wrong, and has been wrong for over 700 days.
We have such a flexible system, and no bureaucracy at all.
I am sorry to hear you're unwell farview and hope you get better soon
Sorry to hear so many people have COVID. So far I have escaped but keep thinking it’ll be me next as I know so many people with it.
My son and all his family have just gone down with it for the third time. The last time was only in January. Under the new guidelines the company where he works expect people to go into work if possible but he’s felt too ill for the last couple of days.
We still have it, Day 10 for MrOops and he is worse today than he was earlier in the week, I’m keeping an eye on him because he really is quite poorly.
I’m on Day 7, feeling a bit better but just so tired, I put the hoover round this morning and I’m now lying on the sofa to exhausted to get myself a drink!
We are both still testing positive but have been triple jabbed so it could have been so much worse.
Our postman says that they are all tested weekly, but if they get a positive result they can carry on working if they want to.
They now have most of the sorting office too ill with Covid to work and the ones who have tested positive but mild symptoms are still working, it’s crazy.
i am in glasgow and last week they said 1 in every 18 people had covid, i am worried about catching it as i have a low immune system and try not to go out but in the last 2 weeks i have had 5 hospital appointments to different departments, i am testing my self daily as i have an elderly mother who insists on visiting.
i hope you start to feel better soon and can get back to normal.
My DH and I have got Covid atm too. He started with a very bad sore throat on Friday evening plus a bit of a cough, although he didn’t test positive until Sunday morning. He said it felt like he had swallowed a porcupine and it has only started easing today. I started off with a slightly sore throat and streaming nose on Monday and tested positive on Tuesday. Still not feeling great, although nose just starting to calm down. It seems to be everywhere atm and picking off those of us who have been careful as well. This is unpleasant, but I can’t help wondering how much worse it would have been if we had not been triple jabbed
Hope all of you who are poorly soon feel better ❤️?
Sounds like cases are rising again, scary as I really wouldn’t like to get it again - it knocked me for 6 in November. Guess I’d best get my LFT test done before I set off to see my ECV sister tonight!
And then another tomorrow before visiting mums care home
Pamdixon I m on day 13, ( so we re much the same) tested negative for the first time yesterday, day 12 The illness itself was just a cold and with me mostly a head cold (coughed for first couple of days) then just in my head but my goodness today I can barely put one foot in front of the other. I ve made myself go for a little slow walk as it’s a beautiful day but half an hour and I m totally whacked
I can’t believe how sluggish I feel like a koala or a slothe on a bad day I just want to hang somewhere
I m used to trotting around I thought by now I d have been back to normal especially as I didn’t have bad symptoms
Get well wishes to you all with covid.
I was speaking to my next door neighbour yesterday. she has just had it and her little boy and girl.
Her husband, brother. dad and nan have caught it now.
Believe it or not a few people have got it and still coming to work just wearing masks at the place where both my sons work. It wouldn't surprise me if we don't get it again.
For all of you with Covid, I hope you are all better soon.
The numbers are rising everywhere. Not a surprise really with restrictions removed. From what we are told symptoms aren't severe. Hope you are up and about soon Farview
I'm so sorry for all of you with covid. We've tried so hard to avoid it, but it's on the increase again around here.
I hope you get well really soon.
Best regards.
I'm recovering from it too. So much around! A friend said take Sambucol - I definitely need a pick me up - am feeling invredibly tired (on day 12). Have just bought some - hope it perks me up!
Get well soon everyone who has it. I got it from a friend we had lunch with - came down with a filthy sore throat in less than 48 hours of seeing her and she didn't know she had it - only discovered when she did a PCR test as she was due to go abroad. It transmits v. quickly, but my husband hasn't caught it. Strange............!
The cough medicine is deifnitely making me cough........!!
Yes, I'm feeling sorry for myself so sympathies to everyone else feeling the same way.
I tested positive on Wednesday. It’s the first time I’ve had it and I’m bloody angry since I’ve been triple jabbed and hardly ever go out, but went away for a few days last week!!! I still took precautions and wore my mask but managed to get it. And I feel really rough. I’ve had headaches, weird light headed feelings, my limbs feel like lead, and a cough and cold type symptoms, and a temperature ! I’m back in bed now, was only up 3 hours this morning and I’m exhausted ?
Irs getting worrying again how quick covid is spreading all over the uk...I'm going for dinner tonight with my 4 lifelong friends....We are all granny's and none of us have had covid although grandchildren and family members have had it....Quite certain covid will catch us all eventually....Wishing all those who have it just now a speedy recovery.x
I am just recovering from Covid, having avoided it for 2 years! I got the dreaded cough, which was very debilitating. I tested negative this morning, so hoping that I get another negative test tomorrow. I am still tiring easily. I hope you feel better soon

Just been on BBC news, one person in twenty has got it.
Wow that's bad
I hope everyone on this thread who has it right now is feeling much better or will be soon
I feel almost back to normal today just very chesty
My best wishes for a speedy recovery for all who have covid right now.
We are so SO looking forward to visiting my Son next month, who we haven't seen for over 2 years. The Netherlands, still insist on a negative PCR test before travelling there. I am so paranoid right now, in case we test positive beforehand. I'm just being super careful when out and keeping away from crowds if possible.
Oh and I read somewhere that drinking red wine keeps the virus at bay. Not sure if its true. but I'm happy to give it a go!
