It began as group support during difficult times and although Covid has faded a little, the friendship has endured and become stronger.

Still here for anyone to join a non-judgemental, caring thread during the often challenging time in life.

I'm a newbie - found friends after lockdown. Grateful to them for being so warm.

Ah Notspaghetti. Thank you. Yes last time I broke my wrist DH was with me and took good care of me. It was only two years ago. This time Iโ€™m on my own and it is a struggle.
Your lillies are beautiful. So sorry about your nether regions. Sounds really painful.
Grammaretto what date is your birthday? Mine is next month too. Love your little chick keeping you company.
Kaimoana like you Iโ€™m waiting for NN part two ๐Ÿ˜Š

NotSpaghetti Sat 05-Jul-25 22:00:48

Doodle I'm sure MrD is with you in spirit.

Grammaretto Sun 06-Jul-25 10:03:30

I loved your wedding description NN . It left wonderful images in my mind. I hope you'll have many more happy years together.

Big chick has taken up residence in my veg patch. It's certainly no shrinking violet.

I'm making soup and have just lit the fire. This weather is mental as they say round here

I refuse to put the heating on but for the Quakers this morning it could get cold sitting. I believe a new person is coming too so I decided to put the hoover round. hmm
Better get on. They'll arrive soon.

NotSpaghetti Sun 06-Jul-25 11:18:48

I made a winter veg type soup last night.
Too cold for the egg salad!

Grammaretto Sun 06-Jul-25 17:32:05

I'm torturing myself watching the last Brit standing at Wimbledon.
Also decluttering so multi tasking.

Baby bird was seen stretching its wings this morning. Yay. Let's hope it flies away soon and I get my garden back.

Doodle Sun 06-Jul-25 20:01:46

Evening all. Been round to younger son for BBQ. Despite the rain this afternoon it was a lovely evening. Back home now and relaxing. I get so tired these days.
Hope the Quakers meeting went well Grammaretto
Thanks Notspaghetti i like to think so.

Kaimoana2 Sun 06-Jul-25 23:32:06

My kumerahou leaves still haven't arived and enquiries have met with silence sad angry

Grammaretto Mon 07-Jul-25 06:43:31

That's dreadful Kaimoana.
Can you write to the local paper about your plight and garner support?
Any news about the Elders group?

I am planning a party on Saturday to celebrate what would have been DH's birthday. I may regret giving myself so much to do, with no help and still nursing my eye.
Ah well. What's the worst that can happen?
Someone could fall over the clutter in the hall.. or be attacked by the seagulls...
The Quakers were very nice thanks Doodle. We were glad of the fire. It rained nearly all day.

How are the Lobstars?

NotSpaghetti Mon 07-Jul-25 06:46:55

Oh no Kaimoana - that's terrible!
How far ard they coming and could they be stuck in the post somewhere?
I do hope there's a legitimate reason for the silence though!
๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Do you need them to be picked at the right time (or with prayers) as I've found them as a herbal tea... ?

Doodle Mon 07-Jul-25 21:18:18

Kiamoana Iโ€™m so sorry your leaves still havenโ€™t arrived. If only we could get them here and send them to you.
Grammaretto thatโ€™s a nice idea to have a party for your DHโ€™s birthday. Our sons and I got together with DHโ€™s brother and wife for his . Can some of your family help with the catering if thereโ€™s a lot to do.

Grammaretto Mon 07-Jul-25 21:58:32

I have just agreed to host a French man who lives in Finland. He wants to come almost immediately.

I hope he's a help.
I have ordered a big cake for Saturday from our wonderful cafรฉ so I don't have to bake! @lazygran

I should have kept everything low key like you did Doodle. I always overdo things. My DD will be very cross when she finds out. "But they never even met dad!" I can hear her say.

DH's cousin is coming from America and his brother will come but others are on holiday or can't travel so it will just be a few friends.

I hope the leaves arrive soon &Kaimoana*

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our Cherry flowers

I think I've probably lost my money on the leaves sad I'm gradually working through the anxiety this has caused (on top of the family issues)

My Job's Comforter, Karen went into great detail about how profitable it is to set up a scam website and fleece the unwary
but I'd checked carefully and it seemed like a reliable place just a couple of hundred kilometres away and with an ongoing, well-maintained website which had been establised a long time.

Hope the party goes well Grammaretto - without anyone spoiling it with unnecessary comments.

NotSpaghetti Mon 07-Jul-25 23:13:18

Oh!
Lovely cake and birthdays.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our Cherry -frome too!

NotSpaghetti Mon 07-Jul-25 23:15:01

Do you need to pick the leaves in a special way(or on a particular day, Kaimoana?

Kaimoana2 Tue 08-Jul-25 01:33:27

No NotS and if I could get to even the nearest venue, I would pick my own as I have for years. It's just that I have no one to take me (yes, have asked and asked but I can't force people to run me about).

Doodle Tue 08-Jul-25 11:02:59

Ooh happy birthday from me too Cherry sending lots of cwtches and love. ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚
Thanks for the reminder Kaimoana on top of all your troubles youโ€™re thinking of us all as usual.
I wish I could get those leaves to you.
Do they have a phone number to contact them and ask whatโ€™s happened? Sorry for the family troubles too. Life is difficult when itโ€™s full of pain and worry. Love and hugs to you too.
Hope the party goes well Grammaretto and the weather is fine.

Grammaretto Tue 08-Jul-25 13:12:52

Happy birthday ๐ŸŽ‚ Cherry. I hope your day goes well.

CherryCezzy Wed 09-Jul-25 16:09:22

Thank you, Every One of you, for your birthday wishes and all that cake, and the flowers, it means a lot ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒป
I had a lovely day.
Sorry I'm not really posting at the minute but you are all in my thoughts and โค๏ธ.

ixion Wed 09-Jul-25 19:50:09

Happy birthday to Cherry๐Ÿ’, thinking of you.

I hope your bash party goes well on Saturday, Grammaretto and that you get a decent lodger for the foreseeable future. It sounds as if you really do need someone else around.

We were burgled, just the once, tho' I strongly suspect it was me who, in the flurry to get all small children and friends into the car and away, omitted to shut the front door properly.
The ba***rds cleared out all my family jewellery, both vintage and sentimental, but apart from that, all that went was an ancient Xerox office photocopier (a two-man lift at the best of times from the basement) and a very old hefty secondhand tv (money was tight in them days) - the sort where you would wait for the valves to warm up.
The only way to get the picture to stop rolling was to get one of the children to jump on a particular floorboard in front of the screen. They had worked out which one ...
Happy days.

Unlike Kaimoana, whose happy days seem to be things of the past at the momentโ˜น๏ธ.
Like the other ๐Ÿฆž, I keep trying to think of a way to help you out- to no avail, obviously. I am so sorry about the ๐Ÿƒ. So near - and yet so far. Any joy with tracking your purchase or pursuing the rogue traders?
I do hope so.

Doodle, how are things? Are the wrists getting any better?

In the doghouse here, after I suggested, during FaceTime, that DGS1 show me his newly learned ju-jitsu skills, at which point the iPad was launched unceremoniously into the air with some sort of specialist kick manoeuvre, shattering the screen to smithereens.

The lad has to save up for a replacement by carrying out jobs about the house.

How much do you get paid? I asked.
Three dollars, he responded. Unless I do a really good job, then it's five.

๐ŸคซDon't tell Mr.I.

Kaimoana2

I read occasionally. Sorry to butt in, but would any of this help you source those leaves? ๐Ÿคž

Lovely to hear from you Cherry and Iโ€™m glad you had a nice birthday.
Oh dear Ixion martial arts and iPads donโ€™t mix. Wrists are getting better thanks but still ache a lot. By this time of the evening theyโ€™ve become quite painful hence me not typing so much. I think it will take a while to build up strength again.
How awful being burgled. Especially when they take things that mean a lot to you.
Like the rest of you I wish I could help Kaimoana source her herbs too,

Kaimoana2 Wed 09-Jul-25 21:17:58

Very happy to report that the people selling kumerahou have contacted me with apologies.
They have had some issues but my order is on its way. grin
A bright spot in a very bleak time. I'm thankful.

Kaimoana2 Wed 09-Jul-25 21:30:50

FriedGreenTomatoes2 many, many thanks for your kindness, all that research! Much apprecited.

So too is all the encouragement received from the Lobstars.
You're a lovely lot !! grin

Oh dear ixion your poor DGS, is there a birthday coming up soon which would warrant a donation which might get you out of the dog house? wink

Kaimoana2 Wed 09-Jul-25 21:43:55

Doodle If you can bear it, soaking your hands in deep, warm water to which you've added Epsom Salts, might help.
