Must bring on quite a few emotions seeing your belongings leave Grammaretto . We get attached to the things around us. Glad you had a nice visit from your dsis and BIL.
NN did you buy the green lacy jumpsuit? I liked your other dress too.

Doodle Wed 07-Oct-26 22:00:16

Evening all.
Nice morning in church except I knocked over a jug of milk in the fridge. It ran all the way through to the bottom so everything had to be taken out and cleaned. Not what I needed that time of the morning. Had friends round for coffee this afternoon which was nice then spent some time sketching.
Hope everyone is ok . I’m off to bed now sleep well.x

Grammaretto Wed 07-Oct-26 22:47:06

That sounds a lovely day Doodle apart from the spilt milk.
I've been scrubbing a large strawberry juice stain off my kitchen table with vinegar, lemon juice and bicarb. It hasn't worked.

I have been watching Grand Designs which tonight was my architect's project. It took 10 years so perhaps it was just as well my project never got off the ground. 😂

I went to Peebles today to walk along the river and do a bit of shopping. There are some nice shops.

No house news.

NotSpaghetti Thu 08-Oct-26 08:05:27

😱 Grammaretto!

Grammaretto Thu 08-Oct-26 14:30:05

NotSpaghetti is your exclamation because there's no house news or that my architect's project took 10 years 😟??
perhaps both

I hope all Lobstars are having a nice day.
Yoga was very relaxing today.

When do you go on your cruise NN? to wear all the glamorous clothes.

NotSpaghetti Thu 08-Oct-26 14:31:36

The idea of 10 years of disruption
😬

Doodle Thu 08-Oct-26 22:13:31

Think illl head off t bed now. Sleep well all

Doodle Fri 09-Oct-26 21:54:03

Had a lovely walk this morning with the group then sat around chatting over coffee for a couple of hours.
Tomorrow taking friend for afternoon tea at the hospice. It’s her 80th. Have a good weekend all

ixion Fri 09-Oct-26 22:07:44

I hope you had better weather for your walk, Doodle, than we had here.
Lovely warm afternoon tho', but haven't ventured into the basement to check potential ingress, tho' in fairness we have been dry for ages now🤞.

Grammaretto, so very sorry to read that you may have lost your new home - keeping everything crossed for you, in the hope that something just as/even more desirable may be just around the corner for you.

Night all 🌛xx

Grammaretto Sat 10-Oct-26 10:13:03

Thanks ixion what's for you won't go past you as the saying goes .

A df who saw round it with me says I can do better.

I am annoyed with the seller who hasn't let me back in to measure up etc and has now advertised it again with posts to the local Facebook page urging people to buy her DGM lovely house. I suspect the offspring are desperate to sell.

I'm having a sale of artworks bought over the years. I'm going to write labels for each explaining their provenance, if known.

I've been washing the frames and glass. What a difference!

Enjoy your afternoon tea today Doodle

Grammaretto Sat 10-Oct-26 18:35:23

This was what I was trying to say. Some artworks went and it was lovely to watch them being enjoyed and remembered.

ixion Sat 10-Oct-26 18:51:38

Aha, many thanks to Google for translating for me.

I think this should've been your motto going forwards.

It really is too bad that the DC appear not to be able to wait a while and give you the time you need.

If granny hadn't died yet, they wouldn't be eyeing up the money quite so keenly.
Let's hope there's something even nicer out there waiting for you and that they have to settle for less.

How is the sale going?

NotSpaghetti Sat 10-Oct-26 19:11:20

Oh Grammaretto how annoying. Not quite our "moving to County Cork saga yet though!!

Doodle Sat 10-Oct-26 20:22:55

Grammaretto i firmly believe the right place will be found for you. Moving is always a difficult business. I hope you get it sorted soon. Interesting art work. Hope your sale goes well.
Our afternoon tea was delicious, friend, whose birthday it was, really enjoyed it. I’m still very full.
Church tomorrow then a busy week next week starting with coffeee am and pm with friends fitting opticians in as well,
ixion yes walking weather was good thanks. It’s still quite warm here. I’ve got the fan on at the moment, making the most of it as I’m sure the cold weather is coming.

Grammaretto Sun 11-Oct-26 09:03:05

I've been making an appointment to view yet another house near the other on the same estate. It's nearer to the town centre and bus stops but has no garage or place to have a workshop. It does have a small sunny garden which isn't paved over like the other 🙂

So altogether more me 😅

I came back from the concert last night but forgot to look at the sky which according to local reports and photos was full of aurora colour.

Another decluttering day awaits. My pottery friends are coming to help me and a cousin of DH will collect the family heirloom. I hope the clearance people didn't take it to auction.

Your week is panning out nicely
Doodle 😊

NotSpaghetti Sun 11-Oct-26 09:24:59

I think there will be something else coming along soon that is intended for you.
It may be somewhere totally unexpected or something you hadn't considered.
I do hope the next one is perfect - the last one did sound good - but "sensible".

Naughtyneine Sun 11-Oct-26 19:04:37

Grammaretto....I firmly firmly firmly believe that everything happens for a reason.... None of us want you settle for the 'maybe this will suit me house'. We want you to find a house that makes your heart sing when you first see it and close your eyes and see yourself living there. It will happen.
DH has his best friend/best man/ also coming on the cruise mate down staying with us...he had surgery on his knee 2 weeks ago and has been signed off for 3 weeks so has come for a long weekend. He is very taken with the area and has been talking about moving down.... That would be lovely for DH...they are very similar in character and get on really well .... I've been lucky to have had the time in between work to meet people and make friends ...he hasn't had that much opportunity and despite coming over as outgoing is actually less confident ( not helped by his past experience, his ex really wasn't a people person and didn't like him talking to new people or being sociable...) we are all different and that's the difference in our relationship from our previous ones..acceptance and love of who the other person is...not resenting characteristics that don't fit with our own.

Doodle I did buy the lacy jumpsuit....and I have gifted the mermaid outfit....to my lovely neighbour who has gone through a divorce and losing her Mum in the space of just over 12 months...she popped in and I told her the story and showed her the pictures...she tried to tell me I looked fabulous but I knew she would look wonderful in it...she is more straight up and down if you know what I mean...no cantilever balancing bits ( lallies and butt) like me. She left very happy and my joy knew no bounds at the thought that no one in the Caribbean would see an oversized wannabe mermaid wiggling into dinner.

Doodle Sun 11-Oct-26 22:01:35

Grammaretto like everyone else I want the right place for you not second best. I do hope the right thing comes along.
NN be nice if your DH’s friend does move near you.
Good your neighbour has now got the mermaid outfit. Do we get to see the lacy jumpsuit? Hope it doesn’t have holes in embarrassing places. 😱

Grammaretto Mon 12-Oct-26 18:18:21

The house I was going to buy has now been sold to someone else.
I viewed another one today and like it much more. It had a good feeling about it. The garden was lovely.
No garage or conservatory but scope to build a studio in the garden. The owners keep chickens and there's a wood stove.
I really hope this is the one!

I hope your DH friend moves to be near you NN that would be so nice.

ixion Mon 12-Oct-26 18:41:01

Oh, that sounds marvellous, Grammaretto.
Everything crossed for a swift transaction.

Doodle Mon 12-Oct-26 20:22:12

Oh Grmmaretto fingers and all crossed this is the one. Hope it works out for you,
Busy day today. Two different coffee and chat sessions and a trip to the opticians, M and S and Sainsbugs.

NotSpaghetti Mon 12-Oct-26 20:22:57

Hooray Grammaretto!
🤞🤞🤞🤞

Grammaretto Tue 13-Oct-26 20:23:17

Not celebrating yet 😕
More bad news today. The plumber came to service the boiler in the granny flat. He condemned it. I'll either have to buy a new boiler or connect the flat to the house which means a lot of complicated pipework.
He's going to give me some quotes.

However, I have noted interest in this latest house and today 4 of us spent several hours on attic clearance, skip loading, posting saleable or reusable items on gumtree and having a few laughs. Ofcourse it still feels like there's still masses to do.
I was exhausted.

How are the other Lobstars?

Doodle Tue 13-Oct-26 22:06:55

Grammaretto i wonder is it worth just letting the boiler be if you don’t actually have someone in the flat. The person who buys your house may have totally different idea as to its use and layout.
When I sold out car it had a big dent in the side. I said to DS1 I’ll need to get that fixed first. He advised no. Just sell it as it is if a garage buys the car they will repair it for less than they’ll charge you for doing it. Not sure about my logic but you could try just leaving the boiler at the moment.

Naughtyneine Wed 14-Oct-26 09:46:32

I've got everything crossed Grammaretto. If it felt good that is a very good sign. As to the boiler...I agree with Doodle...just leave it. If you are not advertising the house with a self contained flat then it won't matter and the new owners can decide what they want to do with it. Did you think anymore about a little break...change is scene from the packing up, clearing etc. It's not only very physical...it's emotionally draining at times too. Sending you a big cwtch.
Well actually you probably wouldn't want a cwtch from me just now as I've got a vile cold....think Neil from the Young Ones!!?! Not a pretty sight. I'm really hoping it clears by Saturday as flying albeit short haul with a bunged up nose will not be fun. I can't face calling HMRC today....I had an email a few weeks back to say I'd paid too much tax back in 23/24 and they owed me a refund...which I claimed then on Monday they emailed again saying my tax code had changed and that I owed them the exact amount that they had refunded me. I'm totally confused. Ho Hum. I've actually spent some of it too😱
Just to make it a trio of woe...Ddog1 has been sick during the night. DH dealt with it...I can deal with everything apart from vom, I think I will just crawl back to bed for a bit. 🙂
