I used to watch and totally enjoy soaps at one time and my DD1 wanted to be Angie Watts! I stopped watching some years ago when storylines became more and more improbable and over dramatic. Also work became more demanding and I was not home early enough to be ready to enjoy what was then a 7:30 programme.
I think that for 'Jeremy Kyle' participants soaps and life have got confused! I do think that there are some folk who think life is dull if it is not lived a soap pace and , on a serious not, think soaps have contributed to as many social ills as much as they have tried to educate viewers.
I try to listen to The Archers if I can..but that is so slow you can miss it for ages and still know what's going on! I can remember in my Nana's house we had to be quiet on Sunday morning..roast was in the oven , veg prepared and so she could relax & listen to The Archers!
