gilly which way do you want to handle it?
Diet, exercise, counting calories or 5:2, which suits you best?

glassortwo Wed 10-Apr-13 13:02:52

Well I still have wine, but limit my bread.... infact really try to avoid it as once I start I find it hard to give up again.
Sugar you can use a sweetner, you can get one that is totally natural, I will have to ask notso what its called as I never use sugar.
Crisps once you stop eating them you can do without them, its the salt that you crave just takes a few days to break the addiction.
Cakes and biscuits I can live without.

I am about the same this week - not surprising really as DD has been here the last two weeks and DH was in hospital last week four days having an op - DD and I had a couple of meals out.

I started a blog yesterday which I think only family can see, as I'm not sure how to make it public - or if I want to! I committed myself to swimming today and accordingly did so - only 200 metres, but it's a start. Now feeling a bit sore but am going again on Friday. Promise!

Well that's the 5 thousand dollar question isn't it Glass ?

Exercise? Can't do a lot for health reasons. (can do walking but thats about it and I already do as much as I can).

Diet? probably.

Counting calories? Boring

5: 2? Does that involve starvation?

It will be bread I will miss the most as am so used to having a sandwich at lunchtime. DH loves pasta dishes too and don't want to start cooking 2 different meals every evening.

gillybob Wed 10-Apr-13 15:26:09

Can't wait until the new pool opens in my town. Only 3 months to go and its within walking distance too.

Notso Wed 10-Apr-13 15:56:49

Back from a few days away and like a few others on here...have slipped a bit. First Easter weekend, then been away for teenage grandson's birthday party. Youngest grandson's birthday coming up this weekend. Too much cake around!
I haven't weighed in as I was away from home, but will do at the beginning of next week.
Am in desperate need of GETTING A GRIP. Maybe the suggestion of a bit of sunshine will help.
The natural sweetners I use glass are from the Truvia range, they don't have the chemically aftertaste that most sweetners have.

notso I have to get my head together too and sort out this 1 1/2 stone I need to get rid of, so stick in and we will see how we do over this next week. I have just come back from Aquafit, I love it but it starts at 8.30 so by the time you get showered and home it 9.45 the night is finished.

Gillybob have a look at My Fitness Pal - it works out how many calories you need to take in each day to achieve the weight loss you want (in my case 1lb per week) - it even tells you if you are not eating enough!
Then when you enter what you have eaten or intend to eat, it automatically deducts the calories and shows you how many you have left.
That way you can 'save' enough for a little treat in the evening or whatever. It is very easy once you get the hang of it so maybe worth a look as, like you, I would get bored of writing things down and adding/subtracting and not bother! (yawn emoticon!)

glammanana Thu 11-Apr-13 12:22:14

glass just back from weigh in and have only lost 1lb this week but in all honesty I have not done any body magic or swimming I have been sat on my bum e-baying so a big kick up the backside this week,I have started a diary to keep me on track so I know I will not skip any meals and back to the swimming I think.DDs pal has done amazingly well and has just reached her 4st mark took her 19weeks she looks amazing, just shows what committment can do .hmm

Movedalot Thu 11-Apr-13 13:10:04

gilly I am a fan of myfitnesspal.com as well. It keeps me on track most of the time but has worked wonders with DH. It took me ages to get him to try it but I needed to as he does the cooking. Now he is a bit too prone to quote how bad certain things are for us, even when in public! He has lost about a stone. He is using the Hairy Dieter's cook book for most meals and they are very good. He hasn't always cooked so like to make things which don't require lots of preparation and special ingredients.

Regards sugar in your tea. I used to take it but decided to give it up many years ago and then after about 2 weeks tried it again and it was horrible! If you can just bring yourself to do it for a couple of weeks you will never need it again.

Good luck

Glamma a 1lb is good! Postponed my weighin til next fri as know been bad!

annodomini Fri 12-Apr-13 15:49:08

How about this as a way of burning calories?

glassortwo Fri 12-Apr-13 15:58:08

glamma I was sure I had replied to your weigh in but its vanished unless I did it in my sleep, you should not grumble about 1lb thats a good steady loss and over a year thats 52lb, thats almost 4 stone, I know you want it shifted for the wedding but a loss is a loss. Your DD has done fantastic hasnt she.
smile

bez you sound like you have had a busy time, hope your DH is ok flowers
*celeb( look forward to seeing your weigh in next week wink

anno just off to look at your link.

This week - 2.25lb

glassortwo Fri 12-Apr-13 16:01:11

anno that has had me in kinks, its great, worth all the effort wink

glassortwo Fri 12-Apr-13 16:02:39

That last total is incorrect here is the new but we are still in a minus..... what are we all going to do about that grin

This week - 1.25lb

annodomini Fri 12-Apr-13 16:17:47

Thought you'd appreciate that, glass. Would be interesting to have those bikes in British cities!

glassortwo Fri 12-Apr-13 16:19:35

i did wonder if they could be set up in the Bigg Market here but then could see in my mind eyes the revellers falling off and they would never get down to the undies grin

Galen Fri 12-Apr-13 17:06:14

I'd love them here!

annodomini Fri 12-Apr-13 18:05:25

It would make health club gyms more fun if they could have versions of those on each static bike - what an incentive to pedal faster!

mrshat Fri 12-Apr-13 21:35:30

Sorry I'm so late - a manic week. I'm not sure I trust my scales as I have lost 1.5lbs this week and back to 13 stone! I am delighted, but not sure it is correct. However, I will monitor carefully and hopefully weight will continue to disappear! grin

glassortwo Fri 12-Apr-13 21:41:57

mrshat thank you you have dragged us out of our deficit, well done 1 1/5 lbs. Have a good weekend.

This week . 25lb

Tegan Sat 13-Apr-13 10:22:10

I even hit the ice cream last night [haven't done that for a long time]. Spiralling out of control, eating wise I'm afraid. Start again today. sad

Movedalot Sat 13-Apr-13 13:39:44

Good luck Tegan I am in danger of following you. Am at Ds's house and they have gone to the football. having a bad day for various reasons and so tempted to go to the corner shop and buy something comforting. Stop me someone!

Tegan Sat 13-Apr-13 13:43:25

The slippery slope....don't go to the corner shop, Moved...!!
