Just remembered before I went off to bed, good luck all you early posters. I will not get back on here until tomorrow evening as no electric until 5 at home.
Good luck.
Mandelson failed security vetting. Starmer says he didn’t know

2lb down - so I am pleased. I have been cutting out sugar/sweetened things after last weekend's article in the Telegraph about HFCS. I have also been checking labels for Fructose/Corn syrup content and avoiding desserts other than plain full fat yoghurt. Not entirely easy as I love sweet things, but I can see how easily one leads to another!! Still a very long way to go though.
No change for me but I am now able to go to the gym as long as I only do the sitting down things! Rellies coming to stay on Thursday for 6 days followed by more rellies the day after so it will be impossible to go to the gym and very difficult to not eat all the lovely food DH will be cooking but I promise to try. Unfortuantely the rellies have a blue badge so won't be walking far.
Down 300g to 64.1kg.
Gracesmum I've been making a concerted effort to greatly reduce my sucrose and fructose intake in recent weeks and not only am I losing the weight more easily but I feel much better in myself, fewer aches/pains and early morning stiffness.
if you have the time to watch this video, Professor Robert Lustig explains the science a bit better than the Telegraph article.
Forgot to say Gracesmum you'll probably be surprised how quickly your sweet tooth goes away!
Morning fellow losers!
I am pleased to report another loss, smallish but a loss all the same.
Yesterdays weight 158.2lbs so about a pound and a half gone. Again would have liked more but didn't gym as much as I should have last week (a mad panic session towards the end of the week didn't work!) so my scales are telling me to get over there if I want results
Good luck to everyone else - hopefully the cold weather that causes comfort eating has now eased up so we will feel more enthusiastic?
5:2 still seems to be working as I am another 2lbs down. Fingers crossed for the new week. Trying to swim three times a week and have gone up to 240 metres! A far cry from what I used to be able to do, but it's progress.
Thanks, Janeainsworth I have watched it now and it's pretty damning isn't it? It's a mindset thing for me - I have always liked something sweet to end a meal, even tiny, and I am determined to try to change that. The added sugar in much of what we eat is what worries me. About 12 years ago, my father had just died, DH started working in Bournemouth Mon-Fri and youngest DD was at university so I "treated" myself to regular ready meals from M&S which I had formerly considered a luxury. I think I was also depressed and quite lonely in the evenings, but I put on a lot of weight that winter and have always blamed the ready meals (albeit the Count on Us range) ostensibly low fat but almost certainly high in HFCS as flavour enhancers. So now I am making everything myself, no desserts even when out and hope I can get a grip on my weight before it is too late!
Gracesmum like you I have a bit of a passion for something sweet every now and again.
I use My Fitness Pal to keep me focussed but whichever way you are monitoring/calorie-watching I have found that the Jumbo Snackajack Chocolate Chip variety are great. They are huge so you feel that you are 'having proper something to eat' rather than a 'taste' and are they only 62 calories each! The caramel ones are nice to satisfy the urge for something sweet as well
Good luck!
I bought some Philadelphia light to have on sandwiches and just realised it's a chocolate one
. And I'm trying to kick the sugar thing as well. Hours at work have eased up though, so I'm hoping to have time to get some exercise etc. Not weighing myself this week as it's too depressing..just need to get the appetite under control again. I can't eat something sweet sometimes; it's all or nothing with me and then I have to get it out of my system. Easter was the problem; it's been downhill all the way since then.
tegan I find that if I have had a bad week I need to climb on the scales as it calls a halt to continuing spiralling downward. I am glad your hours are easing and you can relax a little.
sba I have to agree the caramel ones do hit the spot if you need a sweet kick, but I find that I dont crave the sweet end to a meal now, when others needed chocolate at the time of the month I usually went for cheese and onion crisps.
grace I have not checked what is actually in Options but they are very good for solving the need for something sweet or chocolaty.
anno fantastic 2lb, its good to see the distant in the pool expanding and the weight decreasing.
sba well done, thats still a good loss dont give yourself grief.
jane how did you manage that after Saturday, fantastic
move give yourself a pat on the back, to have kept control over these past weeks is no easy feat, you could so easily have just said "sod it" and now have to be deal with the consequences.
grace well done, that proves what problems sugar cause, I have not looked at the link from jane yet but I will.
This weeks total 6lb 3oz..... I need to follow the total through from last week but not had chance to look today, will catch up tomorrow.
13 10 1/2
10 13 3/4. One and a half off this week (on the 5:2).
grace, glass had recommended Options to me, as well, and they gave me my chocolate 'fix'! Aldi have their own low cal hot chocolate sachets at 99p for a pack of 8. They contain 41 cals and I think they're really good.
Good news : did two very serious days' gardening over the weekend so the exercise levels went up considerably .
Bad news: lots of fun things happened during the week ( son's engagement party etc )
Conclusion : I lb up.
Plan: Be extra careful this week and restore previous acceptable weight !
Thanks for the chocolate suggestions, but I am really going to have to work on the desire for sweet things so snacking on gherkins instead!!
I ate them all through my pregnancies! Jar in desk at surgery, jar by my chair at home, jar in bedside cabinet, jar in kitchen and a a jar in the glove compartment of my car!
I will post weight tomorrow. This weekend was a bit of a diet disaster culminating in a cheesecake moment on Sunday, made for me as a late birthday present by my sister in law! I had to have a slice, but I did "accidentally" leave it behind in her house, so I couldn't have any more.
galen 1lb down great...... 6 to go for your holidays
marelli another 1.5 , seems to be working fine for you.
GrannyK thats not bad if you have been celebrating. Congratulations to you DS
grace do you like beetroot? If so try that and it should stop the chocolate craving as it contains
cant remember its name but hits the same spot the chocolate does.
grannyegg 1 piece of cheesecake wont do too much damage, dont worry.
This week 7lb.8oz
Challenge total 1st 2oz
I am on my third week of the 5:2. On my new scales I was 60kg yesterday. I will note any losses over the next few weeks. My old scales are so unreliable I cannot tell if I have lost any already.
Well I lost 1 1/2lbs I have not managed to get off what I put on last week but its a move in the right direction.
Good idea nellie see what results you get next week to get a true picture.
This week 9lb.1oz
Challenge total 1st 1lb 9oz
Despite the cheesecake moment I have lost a pound. Phew!
grannyeggs see the cheesecake didnt sabotage you.
well done.
This week 10lb.1oz
Challenge total 1st 2lb 9oz
Once again I've beaten the 13 stone barrier! Down to 12st 13.5lbs (and it was the same on 3 days out of 3!!). So pleased, here's hoping it keeps going down now and now creep up like the last time!!!!
Remembered to weigh this morning - stayed the same this time - better than going upwards I suppose!!
I forgot to post on Friday as I have been busy all week, not impressed with gaining 1lb this week but I must confess to a curry on Wednesday evening then found I could not resist the onion bahji left on mr.glamma's plate so I suffered when I weighed in on Thursday night. All set for a better week this week.Sorry glass
