To quote Stephen Fry, I think I'd rather be gang-raped by the House of Lords!

j08 Fri 28-Jun-13 13:08:24

Where did the "balls" emoticon come from? I like that one.

j08 Fri 28-Jun-13 13:09:58

Feetle That is disgusting! grin

mollie Fri 28-Jun-13 13:28:58

Tennis balls are on the list...

gracesmum Fri 28-Jun-13 13:57:48

I fail to ever see any justification for quoting Stephen Fry (pompous git - him I mean, not present company) and see no reason to change my opinion now.

Would I get barred if I said "No shit Sherlock"? hmm

Elegran Fri 28-Jun-13 14:24:37

They don't let you do extra spaces on here. Wonder why not.

Elegran Fri 28-Jun-13 16:00:06

Dunno.

I know some people take against Stephen Fry, but I must say I like his books, enjoy his wit, disagree with his views on punctuation, enjoy his acting and sympathise with his depression. Why do people think him pompous? Maybe because he has played a few pompous parts?

mollie Fri 28-Jun-13 17:42:29

I'd attach the pompous label on the occasions that he, as interviewer, has talked longer (and as a result answered his own questions) than he allowed his interviewee...he did this at Hay Festival a couple of years ago and it drove me mad. The other person was a world expert in mental illness but he barely let her get a word in edgeways.

Otherwise, I'd agree with you about the rest. Very clever man.

Nonu Fri 28-Jun-13 17:52:04

He just does not do it for me , when on the rare occasion I tune into q.i , I find him quite unlike able , same goes for his sidekick , Alan davies

I went on the 5am run which I organised for the club and Gransnet this morning and nobody turned up.
Just going to cook myself a bacon roll.

Frank

HUNTERF the bacon roll will go halfway to undoing the early morning run.

HUNTERF Sat 29-Jun-13 15:35:59

I cooked the bacon under the grill.
There were no restaurants open around where I ran.

gracesmum I agree with you re Stephen Fry

I doubt if transport would be up and running either as not everybody has a car.
Never mind, that is another fiver that you can stash away, tax deductible of course. If you are paying 40% tax it really is not worth the time and effort is it?

sunseeker Sat 29-Jun-13 17:18:54

Frank, I would have joined you but didn't for the following reasons:

I only got back from my holiday at 11.30 last night sunshine
Running causes me to perspire heavily (lets face it so does a gentle stroll!)blush
I didn't know there were two 5 o'clocks in a day shock
As I live in the South West I have no idea where Sutton Park Town Gate is confused

Can I be excused? grin

Anybody for a 5am run next Saturday?.
May have to make it a bit later soon as it will start to get dark at that time.
I did meet a few runners this morning mainly women.
