Biker you won't believe this but I just sent a link to the video to my Zumba teacher for her consideration and got the following reply:
Hi Jane
We have a problem with that song, some people have complained about it in classes (not sure why to be honest) to the point where North Tyneside Council have banned us from using it, so I’m very wary of it.

shock

I must have missed somethingshock

bikergran Tue 17-Sept-13 16:17:50

oh dear!! sorry about that...a they do also use it in Zumba classes.......I wonder if it has anything to do with the lyrics as I seem to think there was a cleaned up version!

janeainsworth Tue 17-Sept-13 16:19:32

I've pointed out to her that the class I go to is held in Northumberland and not the People's Republic of North Tyneside, in the hope she might change her mind grin

bikergran Tue 17-Sept-13 16:24:44

I'v just looked on youtube...apparently there is a "clean" version and a "ermm "dirty" version....but to be honest the lyrics just go over my head..I just like the tune and the dance..., maybe suggest to her there is another version! smile shame to miss out on a catchy dance!

bikergran Tue 17-Sept-13 16:26:12

if we had to stop listening/dancing to music because of the lyrics..the world of dance/linedance would be a very dull place confused

janeainsworth Tue 17-Sept-13 16:27:43

Quite!

Lona Tue 17-Sept-13 16:44:10

I think that the ruder version makes a reference to( or suggests) rape.

bikergran Tue 17-Sept-13 18:03:40

aha I see *Lona" yes it does have some "iffy" lyrics I believe......maybe not suitable then.

vampirequeen Wed 18-Sept-13 08:53:51

I didn't hear any lyrics lol

vampirequeen Wed 18-Sept-13 08:54:30

I must be getting old shock

janeainsworth Wed 18-Sept-13 09:18:26

Me too Vq!

janeainsworth Wed 18-Sept-13 09:23:15

Er...it's all explained on Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blurred_Lines
I don't advise looking up 'twerking', especially not at this time in the morningwink

suzz Wed 18-Sept-13 10:58:33

bikergran love it wink do you have the link to the clean version?

thanks

suzz Wed 18-Sept-13 11:21:29

Watched video and wanted to get up and try the dance but unfortunately hurt my back shock (last sunday while stretching), when better will be trying dance moves yeah wink

bikergran Wed 18-Sept-13 14:48:17

hi *suzz" if you search "youtube" "blurred lines clean version" it should come up with list (may be on the right hand side of the screen) just have a search through it will say "clean version" not sure what the difference is as I havn't actualy read the lyrics fully! I just liked the tune and the lady doing the dance lol..

bikergran Wed 18-Sept-13 14:49:05

I think there are different versions of the dance....and as yet they have not taught it at our linedance class sad and not sure if I should ask! confused

bikergran Wed 18-Sept-13 14:49:39

hmm that should have been suzz soz.

janeainsworth Sun 22-Sept-13 13:35:52
