Good morning everyone, been a bit hectic here this morning with first day back at school, so I am late putting this thread up.

Happy New Year to you all I hope you are all in the right place to start our New Year challenge, mine starts tomorrow with 1st weigh in then the work starts.

Oh Tegan, my tummy needs to be shrunk back to pre-Christmas 1967 proportions....but I'll give it a go! grin

Hi gilly good to see you and your approach works very well, it always shows in your clothes.smile

Well I have had a good 1st day:-
2 weetabix and a banana for breakfast cup of tea.
Apple mid morning.
Made a Slimming world quiche for lunch.
2 satsumas mid afternoon.
Salmon new potatoes carrots and brocolli for tea.
Through the day Tea, coffee (black I used my milk for breakfast and a drop in my tea).
Just had glass of wine.

I went on Monday but afraid I didn't go this morning as planned. I had sardines with my ryvita today and replaced the usual mayonnaise with one that had only 10 cal per tablespoonful. I did give in to the temptation and had a chunk of cheese last night but, when that's gone I'm not keeping any more in the house. I'm a bit achey after my gym session on Monday [that's my excuse] but the weight had gone down slightly this morning. Need to give the dog a walk this afternoon. I'm a bit worried about something at the moment which can work in several ways ie I either don't want to eat at all or I binge; thus far it's the not eating mode [but that can change!]. Bought a printer for the pooter on Monday and it's keeping me occupied trying to figure out how it works. Oh, and I dug my juicer out of the larder yesterday and made a carrot apple and orange drink for breakfast. I may even have a green tea in a minute [but that might be taking things a bit too far confused; I hate green tea....

Hello everyone. I have no idea how much I weigh and have no desire to find out. I am judging my weight loss/gain by how my clothes feel when I put them on. I am being careful with what I eat during the day and enjoying a good (normal) meal in the evening with the odd treat thrown in here and there. I did go a bit "off" over Christmas, who doesn't? but I am now getting back on track with things. Not a conventional approach to dieting I know but its working for me and I can now get into clothes that I haven't been able to for quite some time.

Did you visit the gym Tegan? I did my usual Wednesday walk with our local Age UK group this morning, a lovely day for it but more rain forecast for later. Your Ryvita and "something" could possibly include tuna if you like it, or may be a low fat spread. I am off to stock up on Ryvita and cottage cheese and some celery and carrots! Full of good intentions but wonder how long it will last!! I chew chewing gum at home in the evenings, seems to help a bit and stops me raiding the cupboards which are now empty of all temptations.

The Atkins diet is a good one to shrink your tummy back to pre Christmas proportions. I reckon that carbs are addictive [like cheese sad].

Notso Tue 07-Jan-14 21:59:17

I've completed 2 days on Atkins and it's been OK. I haven't felt hungry, but I do miss the carbs. I haven't exercised since early December, but did 2 miles nordic walking this afternoon. I was the last to arrive back at base, but at least I did it. I need to lose about 4/5 stones in total, but it's do-able smile

Tegan Tue 07-Jan-14 20:50:23

Today I've just had 4 ryvita with two boiled eggs mixed with mayonnaise [which is my downfall at the moment] and lots of cups of tea and coffee. I'm keeping really busy and planning to go to the gym again tomorrow. I can't plan meals; 500 cal days will have to be ryvita and something [there's something quite satisfying about ryvita cause they take a lot of chewing and they come in lots of nice flavours these days]. And the eggs, being protein are quite filling. Have bought some low calorie mayonnaise which should help.

I dont know tegan but pity it wasnt so easy to get off.

Tegan Tue 07-Jan-14 20:36:50

Why does it go on so much quicker than it comes off?

glassortwo Tue 07-Jan-14 20:34:13

Hi caz we would love you to join us, we all follow our own plan be it watching calories, 5:2, weight watchers, Slimming world whatever you want.

I start the thread ready for a Monday but as we all have different weigh in days it runs to the following Sunday. You can use the thread in anyway you want post any recipes you have made or enjoy, use it to shout from the roof tops when you lose or come on to get the help of other posters if you have had a gain.

I want to put this in writing I have been and weighed in at Slimming World after months and want to say I got a fright, should have know by my clothes so watch this space its going to change!!!!

cazthebookworm Tue 07-Jan-14 20:24:33

Good evening Ladies, can I join your weigh in. I have slowly put on nearly 3/4 of a stone over the last 3 years, since I gave up smoking actually, no mean feat after smoking the dreaded weed for over 50 years. Now, although I am not actually over weight by very much, I feel it, gone from a size 12/14 to 14/16 and I hate it. I cannot stop nibbling in the evenings, boredom, comfort eating, you know what I mean. So, I am going to try the 5-2 diet but am dreading the 500 calorie days, don't think I have the will power to do it. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have put on 2 1/2 lbs over Christmas. Back on to health eating today so fingers crossed for net weigh in. Good luck everyone.

Tegan Tue 07-Jan-14 10:10:32

It's as if, having given myself 'permission' to eat more at Christmas I just keep on doing it sad.

GrannyK Tue 07-Jan-14 10:01:50

OK . Have just had the first official 2014 weigh in . Obviously it is the most I have weighed for about a year , but in perspective I am currently 59.7 kg and I want to be 58 kg , so I need to lose 4 lbs again (the same old 4 lbs !) It really cannot be impossible to achieve. Tegan, you are so right about the eating pattern. I never have that much trouble at Christmas itself , it is always the week or so afterwards. Anyway - new year , new start !

Tegan Mon 06-Jan-14 21:13:28

Watching it on 4+1. Sugar thing looks promising smile.

Galen Mon 06-Jan-14 20:37:56

Food unwrapped. Well worth watching

Galen Mon 06-Jan-14 20:29:04

Anyone interested in joining Slimming World buy the Daily Mirror tomorrow and there is a voucher for the joining fee, you will then only pay the weekly fee of £4.95 less if a pensioner.

Elegran Mon 06-Jan-14 19:16:30

Haven't tried that one. I am still working on my shoulder.

Tegan Mon 06-Jan-14 19:07:11

Oooh; I like the sound of the 'dynamic hug' !!

Elegran Mon 06-Jan-14 19:04:11

Just for you , Tegan (I bought a set of yellow red and green bands to exercise my shoulder)

Tegan Mon 06-Jan-14 18:32:24

Ate really healthily today [didn't calorie count at all]. Bought some dumbells and a resistance band from the supermarket [not sure what to do with the latter but it was on offer]. Went to the gym and exercised for over an hour. Bought some food for when I start the 5:2 diet [Ryvita and cottage cheese; can't be doing with cooking anything or weighing things]. Foot hurts but seeing the Dr tomorrow. Not going to weigh myself till next week or it might throw me into a biscuit eating frame of mind. Saw an exercise bike on offer the other day; might send away for it as probably can't afford to renew my gym membership in July and may not need to anyway if I can make more sense of Michael Moselys exercise book.

coastwallker Mon 06-Jan-14 16:12:43

I was up 3.5llbs at WW this morning. But I am back On It now and trying the new Simple Start plan.
