I cannot be the only person who put on 4 lbs over Christmas and needs some serious support in losing it again as soon as possible !!!!

Hiding from Glass.

Three and three quarter pounds here. And it's so difficult to get back into dieting mode!

chloe1984 Tue 06-Jan-15 09:56:16

2ibs on for me having difficultly getting back on track..

Soutra Tue 06-Jan-15 10:56:09

It took me 3 months to lose 9 lb and 2 weeks (if that) to find put 4 of them back on sad

soontobe Tue 06-Jan-15 11:42:05

For the first year ever, I havent put any on.
I had a hard effort over 3 months last year at losing 1/2 a stone. And have no intention of putting it back on again. So am now vigilant all year round.
I find the effort of losing weight a battle, so once I succeed, I hold on fast to my new weight.

Believe me I am not smug.
I seem to have to go through this once every ten years.

I can't weigh myself. The scales need new batteries. I must need to lose weight though! The amount of chocolates I ate over Christmas was colossal. I have just been discussing with DH when we should start our 5:2 diet again, and we decided upon next Tuesday. I was doing very well and had lost 5 pounds in 6weeks. Well, hey ho and on we go.

I am not sure if you want tips GrannyK?

The best one that worked for me, was I read somewhere, that if you do not have foods that are likely to tempt you in the house anywhere, you cannot eat them.

I have felt so unwell since before Christmas with a chest /sinus infection - the sense of taste and smell have disappeared, so I didn't want to eat much or drink (that's a first for me!). For the first time ever, I have lost weight over Christmas/NY. Not an ideal way to lose it but it has put me in the right frame of mind. The family have gone and I am gradually, in between sitting down and gasping for breath, chucking out all the leftovers. First to go were the half finished boxes of chocolates........ and I have put loads of stuff in the freezer out of temptations's way and am now back to basics. [halo emoticon]

Ariadne Tue 06-Jan-15 12:58:19

I was wondering where "your" thread on weight loss had gone, glass! I haven't put any weight on over Christmas but a year of relative mobility means it has crept on a bit. Once I am over the final op I shall join you all! Meanwhile I shall watch from the sidelines.

I don't go near the scales during January. Hopefully by the end of the month 5:2 plus a few good walks will have cleared whatever I have put on. The diet was suspended over Christmas and New Year.

Tegan Tue 06-Jan-15 13:26:33

I didn't put weight on over Christmas at first but it started to creep up when I started to 'use up' all the Christmas food that hadn't been eaten. I was half a stone up the other day but a couple of days of eating less has reduced that. I can't seem to get back into exercise mode yet, though, and the I'm still resting the dogs poorly leg so no dog walking either.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 06-Jan-15 13:30:43

I have just eaten a bit of chocolate out of DH's bag. Just the other bit to go, and then I will start again properly. smile

Why don't men just eat the flippin' stuff?!

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 06-Jan-15 13:31:26

Hope babba's better soon Glass.,

Anya Tue 06-Jan-15 13:43:34

Feeling smug as I've lost all my Christmas weight and some more.

sherish Tue 06-Jan-15 13:51:22

I had to find out how much I'd put on when I had a hospital appointment today and my weight is recorded. Three kg's for me which I think in real money is around 7lbs. Oh well, it was good while it lasted!

Teetime Tue 06-Jan-15 14:52:55

I started back at SW the first week in December and lost 10 pounds in time for Christmas , put 3 and half (how do you type halves?) over Christmas, lost three pounds this week and am now back on the SW healthy eating plan 100%. Happy to share any information re this if it would help.

FlicketyB Tue 06-Jan-15 17:20:34

DH and I both lost 2 stone on the 5;2 diet last year and both put on nearly half a stone over Christmas. Returning to normal eating immediately brought our weight down by 2 lbs. We started the 5;2 again on Sunday and intend to be back to the new normal by the end of the month.

vegasmags Tue 06-Jan-15 17:35:35

Returning to slimming World tomorrow morning for the dreaded weigh in. I can tell by my tight jeans that the news will not be good ...

NfkDumpling Tue 06-Jan-15 17:41:08

As usual I managed to lose 4lb before Christmas, put nothing on over Christmas and put 4.5lb over New Year eating up left overs.

granjura Tue 06-Jan-15 17:52:33

Perhaps one reason why so many people dread Christmas (same here, nearly 2 kg on).

MrsPickle Tue 06-Jan-15 18:36:59

I put 3lbs on and have lost 2 of them.
Back to MFP, dedication and a very (small) wardrobe.

You can do it, peeps.

henetha Tue 06-Jan-15 20:45:27

Best dieting advice I ever read....
Eat less, move more.

Nanabelle Wed 07-Jan-15 00:38:57

So glad I didn't make a Christmas cake, as I would definitely be eating most of it! Naturally I ate most of the chocs but not much alcohol for me as had a bad cold. Put on a good few pounds, so now back on carb free for 17 days (if I can manage it) and healthy eating. Its up, down, up down, isn't it! Loving the mandarines/clems/satsumas that are in the shops now.
Lets hope for some nice weather so we can get out walking.

rubylady Wed 07-Jan-15 01:55:44

I put 2 lbs on and went on 5:2 diet from the 2nd and have lost it again. I don't overbuy because there is only the two of us so most of it had gone but found a tube of Pringles and have munched on them a bit tonight. blush

I will try harder tomorrow and be good. Only about 5 stone to lose! So no more buying rubbish.
