Has anyone used a hula hoop for trimming your waist? A friend has been using a weighted one since Christmas and swears it has toned her up. Thinking of getting one but it may end up in the cupboard after a few weeks! smile

Would you really use it a lot? You would need a fair amount of space for it to work. For me it would be a one day wonder if that long.

I have one in the garage. I keep looking at it but so far it has done nothing for my waist.
Perhaps I should try staring harder?

I used to love hula hooping. A couple of years ago I bought one which was quite heavy and I couldn't master it. So, I bought a light plastic one and I still couldn't do it!
I've tried and tried but I just can't do it any more! Is it my age? I was quite fit at the time.
shock confused hmm

Exercising with hula hoops seems to be the new fitness craze where I live, fun and effective. I am thinking of joining a group myself. Look up Hoola Nation if you are interested. I will let you know how I get on. Not sure if it will trim the waist but should be good for belly laughs.

Even as a child I could never get the hang of that.

galen you're clearly not trying hard enough - see if wearing glasses helps wink

I was a genius when I was younger, sadly am no longer young! BUT I can still pogo!!!

shysal Sun 06-Mar-16 16:25:14

grannylyn, I used to love to pogo as a child, had permanently bruised inner knee joints! I could also hula hoop for hours, but alas can't do it now. I expect it is the thicker waist hampering me! I can, however, still skip, including the 'bumps' (double turn). I haven't dared try the GSs hover boards, not sure my balance is up to it!

I could hula hoop for England when I had a waist but sadly I tried and tried to show GD how but I couldn't do it even once..

Charleygirl Sun 06-Mar-16 17:32:05

tanith not a good idea because you have had a total hip replacement.

That's you told, tanith! grin

I’ve been dog sitting at my daughters and she has all sorts of food that I daren’t keep at home, including hula hoops. I won’t tell you how many packets I ate the other night….(she also has Oreo biscuits and Nutella….) Waist; what waist….(diet starts tomorrow)

Not sure if I can hula hoop but can wotsit.

I bought a weighted hula hoop about 5 yrs ago. I couldn't believe how painful it was. I googled them and they can cause actual bruising. I bought a standard hoop and I was soon back into the swing of it. ☺️ It can be quite energetic. At least for me.

I thought it was about the edible ones and thought hmm possibly not when you're on a diet!

Not so keen on wotsits nandad ?

You can thread hula hoops onto your fingers and eat them one by one.

I’m more of a Kettle chips gal.

Galen move it closer to you and stare, that might help.

I loved my hola hoop when I was young, sadly I can’t do it any more either……

My niece does Hoola Hooping for Cancer and has hundreds of ladies Hoola Hooping all over the place. She has to retrain older people!

I think it’s a great idea. They don’t cost much so are a much better alternative to spending loads of £££ on a more expensive bit of kit that will also make you feel guilty!

Another ancient thread revived! I commented in 2016!

I have recently bought a 'smart' hula hoop but can't get on with it, can't keep the momentum going.
