Hi, I'm a bit overweight and my downfall isn't the main meals but the snacks I eat between them when I feel peckish. I know I can eat fruit and veg but to be honest I get sick of the texture...I just need something smooth and comforting, and that usually means fattening. Does anyone have any good ideas for quick snacks, preferably a kind of grab and go thing because all I seem to go to is biscuits or cake...or chocolate of course!?Thanks in advance.

I make skim milk yogurt and add a bit of fruit or chopped nuts.

Devilled eggs have protein to satisfy and are quite creamy.

A couple of sticks of celery with a dessert spoon of peanut butter and an apple around 100 calories i believe. Very tasty too i might add, use the butter as a dip for the celery.

A couple of dried apricots or prunes are quite filling. Also very sweet, so I can't eat too many of them. Dates as well.

Also, slices of apple spread with peanut butter is another filling snack.

Low fat hummus.

Wow-I'm overwhelmed with all the kind replies and will definitely be trying some of those. But yes, it would be good not to snack at all. The trouble is, I work from home, and it kind of punctuates my day and signals a bit of rest time...maybe it's a habit I need to get out of....?

Have you tried some yoga exercises in your breaks? , stretches on stomach and back muscles really help me focus on things other than food.

Keep a bar of dark chocolate hidden away, and just when you fancy something sweet break a small square off - just gives you that boost... heaven.

In my experience, persevering with fruit snacks is worthwhile. After a while they don't seem boring and I stopped craving other kinds of snacks.
