Tell us how you are getting on

whitewave Wed 22-Nov-17 10:59:00

nfk sorry to hear you are being forced to give up? But whatever diet you choose you could still give us updates. It is horses for courses isn’t it?

Still in the middle of flu here - so not eating much and up a lot in the night hot and coughing.
This morning I panicked a bit as felt very odd and not with it - weak and wobbly and after tottering back to bed realised it was because I had gone too long without food, so ate some granola and after a bit felt better. Thought I’d taken a turn for the worsegrin so moral of story - you can go too long without something to eat.

This is my 3rd week on 18:6 or occasionally 16:8. I haven't weighed yet.. but definitely feel trimmer. Must get those scales out.

hulahoop Wed 22-Nov-17 11:53:30

It's my 3rd week after initial loss of 4kgs I seem to be stuck will have to look at what I'm eating !!

Parsleywin Wed 22-Nov-17 12:37:03

Haha, Jane10! Probably for the same reason I didn't think of trying 16:8 in the first place until YOU mentioned it. I am really glad that you did though, as it seems to be helping so many of us. I don't have scales but can feel a pleasing amount of tummy/hip loss already. Thank you.

Hope you feel better soon WW. flowers

I'm same as you hula but still like the routine so will see

midgey Wed 22-Nov-17 20:38:06

Interesting that poster says this diet changes shape, I think my legs are a bit thinner ( they not anywhere near slim!), but my hips seem as wide as ever!

jamsidedown Wed 22-Nov-17 21:54:30

Parsleywin, that’s a great idea to have breakfast at lunchtime! BUT went for a walk today which involved a pub lunch with lots of yummy warm bread, wine spritzer although I managed to keep within the 8 hours overall - but maybe not within the calories.....

Jane10 Wed 22-Nov-17 22:15:33

I don't think the calories matter. At least for the first few weeks. Now my system is used to it I know I'll have to cut back on the cake/chocs/carbs. Oh well...

I'm well into my 3rd week and still waiting for something to happen. I've been rigid about timing, 10 - 6, and apart from the stray chocolate biscuit and glass of wine (we had a vegetarian, pre Christmas Christmas day on Saturday) I've been very good. I'm waiting in anticipation for my hips to reveal themselves ?.
Flying long haul to Oz tomorrow which will muck up the the timing not to mention tbe menu ...perhaps I am a lost cause?

Jane10 Thu 23-Nov-17 07:30:06

That's the problem with weight loss Marmight- it doesn't necessarily come off where you expect it! Also, with this approach it can be in fits and starts. You can be sure that you're giving your system a good break each day and a chance to rest and repair.
If the red wine and chocolate biscuits are outwith your 8 hours you would be undoing all the benefits of the long fast as metabolising alcohol and complex carbs is going to take several hours.
Bon voyage. Oz for Christmas? Lovely!

Marmight Thu 23-Nov-17 07:45:21

Not a morsel has passed my lips out with the 8 hours.?

Jane10 Thu 23-Nov-17 08:22:36

I expect you'll soon find that you've lost weight behind your knees or elbows or somewhere else unexpected and not necessarily welcome! Life eh?! So annoying.

Lupin Sat 25-Nov-17 09:36:34

I have to keep telling myself that it is only week 3. Weight loss is happening but I'm impatient and want faster results. I have a lot of weight to get rid of. I have noticed that I'm walking more comfortably - not puffing so much - and my hips and feet feel easier.
I'm hoping that this way of eating will settle to be a way of life because I have never managed to keep the weight off after a diet. Am going to go back to exercise routines now. Good old Rosemary Conley and Lesley Sansone. I hope the family in the flat below mine don't suffer too much.

Wheniwasyourage Sat 25-Nov-17 12:21:39

I'm still in there with nearly 2 weeks done. The weight has moved a bit, although still within the variation I had before, but definitely down rather than up. It's been surprisingly easy not to eat until 12 or after so far, so planning to keep going. Good luck, everyone!

By the way, does anyone know how long electronic scales are supposed to last, or rather remain accurate?

Jane10 Sat 25-Nov-17 13:48:40

I was thinking that nothing much was happening weight loss wise but suddenly my trousers seem to be looser. Can one lose weight off one's legs? If so, how annoying. They're always covered up anyway!

Lupin Sat 25-Nov-17 15:38:57

I think you can loose weight off you feet as well Jane. In the past when successfully dieting I've noticed my shoes feel looser. That hasn't happened yet on 16:8, but maybe it will down the line.

jamsidedown Sat 25-Nov-17 19:05:04

Wheniwasyourage I think scales can become erratic when the battery is getting low? Mind you, I think mine change with the weather...

Andyf Sat 25-Nov-17 20:34:44

This week I unintentionally swapped the 16/8 diet for the 'tummy bug diet'! I don't recommend it, 48 hrs starvation but it resulted in a 6lb weight loss, most of which will go back on when rehydrated.

When a friend lost weight her prosthetic leg didn’t fit anymore.

Overthehills Sat 25-Nov-17 21:57:03

I’ve been doing the 16:8 for more than three weeks but am not seeing any significant loss so am feeling a bit fed-up. I’m
Really strict about not eating within the 16 hours - any ideas what else I can do? Maybe give up alcohol (one glass of wine or a g & t before supper) till Christmas?

Jane10 Sat 25-Nov-17 22:17:21

You probably are losing weight but it's not noticeable yet. My first post was about how I suddenly felt that my tum and hips had somehow changed. Then nothing noticeable for a few weeks but now my legs seem slimmer. Even if I don't lose weight I'll be lowering my BP and cholesterol level.

Wheniwasyourage Sun 26-Nov-17 09:57:46

We tried changing the battery, jamsidedown, but it didn't help. The first weight you get when you stand on is not the one you need to settle for, as it goes down at least a kilo (usually) if you persist. I wonder, if I spent all day stepping on and off, whether I would end up with no recordable weight at all...

NannyMags Sun 26-Nov-17 10:46:02

I am very interested in this diet. Can I have a cup of tea with milk when i get up or is that a no no ? I am thinking of doing 12-8pm I start work at 11;30 and break at 2 so plan to eat lunch then and dinner at 6pm then a couple of hours and a couple of digestive biscuits and a cup of tea about 7pm

Jane10 Sun 26-Nov-17 12:24:10

Drink whatever you want NannyMags. The best thing about this scheme is that there are no rules except about eating during the 8 hours.
I've just discovered my thighs have mysteriously reduced and that I can bend right down now due to my spare tyre evaporating.
