You can set your own ‘frugal’ guidelines but the aim is to eat and drink in a more restrained (and healthy) manner that usual just for 28 days.
I did this last year and lost those few extra pounds that nobody wants. For those who have more than a few pounds to shift it can kick start a real weight loss plan for 2018.
It can be combined with 16:8 and any other ‘diets’ you are following.
So, anyone out there want to join in for 28 days and we’ll share ideas and support each other? ?

Naughty step for me yesterday...stressful evening resulted in late night garage chocolate binge.
Trying to get back on track today but long and boring weekend ahead...need some serious distraction from food!
My weight has stuck again even though, apart from the cheese I haven't overeaten. Still, the S.O. is going away for a week and taking the dog so I am going to totally concentrate on my diet and my house [still trying to declutter it]. Smoothie for lunch [remains of yesterdays] and don't know what for dinner. Bit worried about pulsative tinnitus that has come on over the past few days; the sort of thing that can either stop me eating completely [had a health scare a few years ago and could only eat one cheese and pickle sandwich a day!] or sends me to the biscuit tin!
Planning a hot vegetable smoothie (aka soup) for lunch. That’s about as far ahead as I’ve plannec today. Brain fog.

When I broke a front tooth years ago [actually, one of the best things that ever happened to me cause I had two lovely crowns fitted and before I'd had really goofy front teeth
], the dentist told me that crispy bacon was the main culprit when it came to broken teeth.
Trying whole chicken in slow cooker for first time today. Sat it on a bed of veg with some cajun spice rubbed into the skin to add colour. Should be economical and healthy!

Cheese is good. I eat lots (normally) Tegan Good sourcd of protein, calcium and it fills you up.
Well, I resisted the chocolate but did eat quite a large chunk of cheese. realised that the miso soup with vegetables meal that I'd had didn't have much protein in it so I still felt hungry. Didn't go to the gym this morning as overslept [couldn't sleep last night] but will go tonight. Had a smoothie; full of calories but I did need to use some stuff up and I only had half a glass instead of my usual pint! M&S meal tonight.

I’ve lost 1/2 lb
Yesterday had a very healthy fish stew planned. DH came into the kitchen and saw the fish on a plate “oh good”he said “fish and chips”
Guess what we had 
Just lost 0.5kg this week which is about 1lb. That’s fine by me.
Off to dentist for 10.20 appointment later.

Should be going to the gym/sauna tonight but my house is in such a mess I must stay in and have a tidy up. However, it's the sort of situation that makes me start nibbling at things, and I keep looking at the box of chocolates that are on a table in the living room. I'm not going to cave in, though, and shall go to the gym tomorrow morning. I think it's because I don't feel as if I've made any progress over the past few days.

I do eat well. My diet consists of fish,chicken, lots of veg, a moderate amount of dairy,nuts and seeds.
My problem is that I eat too much.
So for me its simply a matter of not being so damn greedy.
I also don't want to be stick thin. My face looks 10 years older if I go below 10 stones !

Then we're out tonight watching a live streaming of Twelfth Night. So that'll be all good apart from the pud - won't it?

I think we all must try to remember that diet is about what we eat, not losing weight. Better to be over what we think of as the weight we want to be and eating a good, healthy diet than being stick thin and eating badly. I noticed, yet again that the models in the Times this week looked half starved; I thought there was a move towards healthier, more rounded looking models.
That wasn’t meant to be a lecture but an inspirational and motivational post. But it did sound a bit like a lecture so sorry ???
Yes, there’s something called a ‘set point’ which is the weight your body wants to defend. The science behind it is to do with fat cells (which your body has created to store your excess fat) and how they want to keep topped up. This in turn had to do with evolution and us being programmed to store fats in times of plenty to use up in times of famine.
If you take a race like the Maori, as just one example.
They were a travelling and warrior race and genetically programmed to survive long periods on very little. Consequently, now the majority of Maori live as we do, in a land of plenty, they accumulate fat very easily and are very prone to type 2 diabetes.
There’s a plethora of diet books out there cashing in on the diet industry. Each contain a grain of truth, but when push comes to shove they are all after your money.
I do agree with having plenty of veg, and eating it first might help fill you up. I also think it’s a great idea to plan that healthy snack, or even a not too healthy snack if it keeps you on track for the rest of the day.
But it’s all about finding out what suits you, what you can stick to (most of the time) and gradually reducing our ‘set points’. And ? not thinking that being on a ‘diet’ means there’s an end to it. It’s for life.
I think, if anyone goes out socially, it's best to eat what you like and enjoy it, and then just get back on track the following day. Read an interesting article in the Time Weekend last night; it's from a book called SECRETS FROM THE EATINGLAB; THE SCIENCE OF WEIGHT LOSS, THE MYTH OF WILLPOWER AND WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER DIET AGAIN [phew...]. In a nutshell, it affirms what I said about always having one weight that I returned to that was more than I wanted to be but always found it difficult to lose weight from; says that our body recognises our ideal weight, which might not be a fashionable weight but, to weigh less than that means you are constantly fighting with your body. To eat the veggies first in a meal, and always have something healthy to snack on ready and waiting if we've been out and get home tired and hungry [which, to me means the M&S ready meals]. I wish I could do a link to it; it was a very interesting article.

The only difference between us, is that DH doesn't eat breakfast.
He has lunch 1pm or later.
I love my breakfast and try and keep to 18:6 plan.
Which means eating evening meal before 6pm.
I feel whoozy if I get to 10am without eating.
However if the scales are not kind tomorrow then I will try and eat after midday for the 3rd week of frugal February.
