I have been fasting on Monday Wednesday and Friday but still eating carbs. It was working but now I have come to a standstill. In the past I did proper alternate days and lost weight quickly. I think this time is more difficult due to taking steroids but I will persevere.

GrannyIris5 Wed 20-Feb-19 20:19:14

Sunlover do you eat low carb on your feast days or anything you like?

GrannyIris5 Wed 20-Feb-19 20:21:08

shysal have you tried changing your fasting hours or days? Nice to know you were still eating carbs.

shysal Wed 20-Feb-19 20:33:05

GrannyIris5, This week I have changed the days because I have a lunch invitation on what would have been a fasting day. I think I will switch to proper alternate days and lower my calorie allowance. Knowing that it has worked for me years ago I am determined to persevere.

I don't do low carb. I try to be mindful of what I eat but treat myself to pasta or pizza occasionally. I haven't had any alcohol this year yet. Off on holiday next week so I can't see myself having any fasting days. Will just try to make good choices.

Struggling a bit here, as many of us seem to be. I find it very difficult to ignore hunger pangs on my fast days, and then have an anti-fast reaction and stuff myself ridiculously the next few days. Feast and famine, not good I know.
I've been listening to a podcast by a bonkers woman who slowly moved from 5:2 intermittent fasting to only eating 1 low-carb meal between 4-8pm DAILY!
Beware of stick thin fanatics, they can't have much fun?

Enjoy your holiday Sunlover. sunshine

Thank you. Can't wait to be in the sunshine.

Struggling, too Grannyparkrun. Had fantastic resolve in January and lost it. I am running to catch up with the wagon I fell off. So far only lost one pound this month. I am hoping to hop on the wagon tomorrow and lose another pound for the grand weigh in next week. Just had a big bowl of nourishing soup for supper. Need a cup of coffee now with a plate full of good resolve to refrain from eating any more today. smile

I’m fasting too today Lumerai and went out (I live in the town centre so it was only round the corner) to get a manicure ?
Prosecco was being offered in the salon to celebrate something and I bluddy well had to decline! Aargh! I’d better lose a 1lb in the morning or I shall be very cross ?

Yes, it’s the GWI a week tomorrow ladies - remember we use the thread for 5:2 GWI to record how we’re doing! Chin up - remember we are in this for the long haul & focus on slipping into that summer frock ?? ?

GrannyIris5 Thu 21-Feb-19 18:26:53

Hope you are all well fed and had plenty of fat today ready for tomorrow’s fast.
I bought some unsweetened almond milk from ASDA I was going to make chia pudding but one sip was enough to put me off - it’s nasty, wouldn’t even give it to the dogs.

shysal Thu 28-Feb-19 11:50:41

Not looking forward to tomorrow's weigh-in. Unless I lose overnight my total will be pathetic! Hope others have done better than I have.

Urmstongran Thu 28-Feb-19 12:44:44

I think tomorrow I’ll have maintained from 1st February which considering I’ve had 7 fast days since then isn’t brilliant ?

Lumarei Thu 28-Feb-19 22:48:54

Let’s hope for the best tomorrow morning. Had my ups and down this month. As soon as I have sugar, My weigh jumps up again and I undo all my good work. Have had a good day today after some serious loss of motivation in the last few weeks. Good luck for tomorrow ladies. shamrock

First to check in because the dog woke me up so early, and I've lost 1lb.... 1. Am full of self loathing and hunger, it always happens, I'm used to this!
Better luck everyone ?

Katyj Fri 01-Mar-19 07:22:32

Hi, Grannyparkrun. Good to hear from you .Could you post on the 5.2 GWI thread please, as it's easier to see our losses and gains and just use this for chat.Hope that doesn't sound bossy because I'm truly not. I'm hungry this morning too, been awake since 4 am, already had breakfast, think I'm going to have to eat extra fruit today.Keep going it's going to take a while lol .

shysal Fri 01-Mar-19 09:36:19

It is lovely to read all the success stories on the GWI thread. Too many of you to mention, but well done all, even those like me who are a bit disappointed. A downward trend is all that matters.

I have a confession to make. On Tuesday a friend brought me a boxed Camembert from France to say thank you for feeding her cats. I am ashamed to say that I oven baked it and ate the lot for lunch with a baguette blush. It was a non-fasting day but can't have helped with this week's lack of weight loss.

Urmstongran Fri 01-Mar-19 09:45:27

Bit like what I’d do shysal!
I’m on a fast day and I’ve just eaten 2 slices of whole meal toast with butter and marmalade.
Oh dear.
A bowl of soup it is for my tea tonight.
Serves me right. ??

Katyj Fri 01-Mar-19 11:29:56

Ha urmstongran a women after my own heart ! Could just eat some toast. Everybody doing well on here, because we're all trying, and that's what matters. Shysal made me smile too, bet you enjoyed your cheese smile There's going to be days when dietings not fun anymore, just have to ride it through and start again and keep trying. Let's keep chatting, and supporting each other a on good and bad days thanks.

Urmstongran Fri 01-Mar-19 11:44:09

Yes let’s. Like minded people, being kind and helpful.
And encouraging.
It really does help!

Katyj Fri 01-Mar-19 18:57:40

At least we have 31 days this month until April the 1st ☺

Urmstongran Fri 01-Mar-19 19:30:36

Ooh, good point Katyk
I’m almost done on my fast day. I had fresh lentil dhal soup for my tea. It was surprisingly filling which is good. Boy did I want some bread with it .... but I resisted!
How about you today? Been good?

Katyj Fri 01-Mar-19 20:50:45

Yes I have I'm pleased to say, nearly caved in at tea time, I didn't get home until 6.30 dh is out for the evening, I was starving, but I boiled some pasta and made a salad with bits from the fridge. Going to have a coffee and a biscuit to use up some of my syns for today. The weekend is here though, and that's always hard work. Fingers crossed .

GrannyIris5 Sat 02-Mar-19 15:49:54

Yesterday was fast day, so today for lunch and dinner I have mushroom stroganoff (mushrooms reduced in Tesco). Tomorrow I will have a roast lunch start fast again around 6-7 pm. Twinings tea with assorted flavours keep me on the straight and narrow.

shysal Fri 08-Mar-19 14:02:09

How is everyone doing? I am pleased to say that this month seems to be going better than last. After reaching almost a standstill I have lost another 3 lb since the GWI. I have even ordered a pair of jeans in a smaller size because my normal ones have all become a bit baggy. If the new ones are a bit tight that will be an incentive to get into them. I look forward to going down yet another size as soon as possible.
