Anyone done these diets in concert?

I see sites that speak of the efficacy of doing so, but would love to hear it from someone that has first hand experience if at all possible.

Re Michael Moseley,I thought all psychiatrists had to qualify as medical Drs before specialising?

MM appears to have a very large expensive looking house in the latest programme. He has done alright for himself.

Maybe MM he is the right man to advise about diet. If your head isn’t in the right place you won’t succeed.
He has access to so many very knowledgeable people.
I’ve been watching his lock down programme, and yes, he has a nice house. Does that devalue his message?

He certainly comes across like a man with a mission.

I don’t think it matters what his qualifications are, Michael Mosley advises people to do as he did, ie practise the best eating plan to conquer Type 2 Diabetes which he was diagnosed with himself and reversed through low carb eating. DH and I have found his advice excellent and it was the basis of DH’s efforts to reverse his Type 2 Diabetes in three months. I follow the 16/8 method most of the time. We are early risers but I don’t miss breakfast any more and find it easy to wait until 11am for my first meal as long as I can have my morning coffee. His wife is/was a GP and advises on low carb meals, it doesn’t matter that she isn’t a qualified chef.

Weight loss on these extremely low calorie diets is bound to happen but what happens when you revert back to eating normally?

These extreme diets are doomed to failure as they do nothing to address the problem of a person’s normal diet.

Hello, a newbie here. I joined specifically to find support whilst doing the 800 Michael Mosely diet. I have always been extremely thin, even after 3 children. In the last 10 years, with menopause and just getting older ( never been a keep fit sort of person) I have put on 5 stone. I have lost 2 through Slimming World. Now, I want to stop smoking, but know that the weight will pile on as it has done in the past, despite me being under a doctor & dietician whilst doing it ( no cheating). So I decided to see if I can do this this 800 thing. I am now on day 8 and have only lost 2 pounds, and feel SOOOOO deprived and dizzy. Should I push through? When does it get better? has anyone any experience of following this? I have followed the book and recipes to the letter and not on any medication. Exercise doesn't come into it at the moment as I feel quite weak. Many thanks

Bluebellwould You have to be a qualified medical doctor to become a psychiatrist. Psychologists do not need a medical training but psychiatrists do.

I have been very successful with the 5:2 diet. I lost 2 stone on 4 months using it when it was first introduced and I have not put on any weight since. His wife is a GP

Sounds to me you are jealous because he is rich. Why should he not make a good living from what he does and if people weren't interested in what he does and what he says, he wouldn't be doing it, but would be wroking as a medical consultant psychiatrist, also a well paid job.

Ridiculous I think everyone has to find what diet most suits them. DS did the 800 cal a day diet - and it worked very well for him. I couldn't do it, but did well with the original 5:2.

DD is currently happily losing weight on the Low-carb diet, but cannot get on with any low cal diet, neither 800 cal a day nor the 5:2. I tried the Atkins Diet, a low carb diet, and it made me ill.

Slimming World seems to have worked for you in the past, why not go back there?

Jaxjacky Mon 07-Jun-21 16:37:37

Ridiculous I lost over 3 stone with Slimming World about six years ago, I’ve kept it off with low fat/low carb, loosely SW.

I have the fast 800 and fast 800 easy recipe book solely for low cal recipes. I haven’t done the diet though, have been tempted not sure if I could manage 800 a day.....(certainly never be able to do 500 as his previous books ).
