Safe to return to the gym?

Sorry if this has already been discussed, couldn’t find a thread anyway. Before lockdown I went to the sports centre 3 times weekly without fail, doing about 45 minutes of free weights/ machines in the gym and several classes on each visit - mostly low key stuff like pilates, stretch and meditate etc. It was also a social thing, a group of us always had a coffee and chat before leaving. So of course I’ve had to get a new routine of home workouts, having sourced kettlebells, dumbells, bands etc and it’s been ok but I do miss the gym. I’m considering going back in September but none of my friends are ready to return yet- so am I being foolhardy, taking a big risk do you think? I’m 71, fit and healthy, not overweight and have no co-morbidities. I know it’s ultimately my decision, just wondered what others are doing.

Hi everyone.. To all swimmers, I have posted on the Sports forum rather than this one to start a new topic but would appreciate any advice if any of you would care to pop over there and have a look. Thanks :-)

Just a little update, I’ve been in to my gym today and am very reassured by all the measures they have in place - one-way systems, hourly cleaning, waiting outside for classes until 5 minutes before starting, gym equipment well spaced over 4 or 5 studios....fantastic! Will be beginning my full routine including classes and gym sessions next week. Gym is so empty, it will be wonderful! Can’t wait ?
