Do you weigh yourself every day?

The other day I saw an article devoted to how weighing yourself everyday can help you with weight loss and so on- here it is . Do you really believe that? It also says that weighing every day helps to "increase awareness of your weight and weight-related behaviors" but what about it increasing your anxiety? Have any of you felt it or is it just me being nervous about weighing myself every day? As a result I gave up doing it that often and now I walk up to my scales once a week. Am I the only one being scared of the scales?

I am another who weighs herself everyday, get go to the loo and on the scales. If I see it creeping up by a pound or two then I just cut back. I am neither anxious or depressed about my weight, if I put on say 3lbs then its easier to lose that then a stone. I do it for health reasons as I had sleep anorexia, lost weight and it went. So I do not want to go back to that and that bloody machine at night.

Your weight can vary widely from day to day. You should only weigh weekly, on the same day and at the same time of day.

I have to weigh myself everyday in case I miss the one where I’ve lost rather than gained.

My son never weighs himself, that way he never has to worry he's put on weight. That's his theory anyway!

I never weigh myself unless I have to for medical reasons. If my clothes get too tight then I cut down until they feel good again. After helping my daughter through anorexia I decided to give up on weight obsession

The OP is referring to recent research which shows that weighing daily is more effective than weighing weekly.

It all depends upon your attitude to your weight, do you control it, does it control you, do you care?

Some of us have conditions which mean we have to be careful about what we eat, some don't. Some have health issues which mean they need to lose weight, some don't. Each of us has a choice whether to weight or not.

Feverfew, some people have weigh themselves daily for medical reasons. People on home dialysis have to weigh and take blood pressure daily.

I weigh myself every morning just to keep a lid on it. I have kept to my perfect weight this way for the last five years. It works for me and when I had an op last year it was great to be told at every weigh in that I had the perfect weight for my height. It works for me. I am lucky that I am as mobile as I was 10 years ago and my Fitbit has become my friend.

I weigh everyday, as part of my routine before I hop in the shower. I only record it once a week, to see the overall trend. I’m currently following Bright Line Eating and am the lightest I’ve been for years. I’m aiming to get back to a healthy BMI- having been in the obese, then overweight category for a long long time.

I stopped weighing myself every day after losing 2.5 stones but after Christmas and lockdown I was comfort eating for England and avoided the scales. A visit to the GP surgery for an annual MOT showed I'd put on 1.5 stones and my blood sugar levels were pre-diabetic. It galvanised me into starting the Fast800 this week (hi Shysal and Marmight) and weighing myself daily is both a prod and an encouragement. Each to their own....

I don't own any scales. If my trousers get tight around the waist then I know I've put on weight and need to cut down.

I never weigh myself, it's too depressing. My scales broke years ago and I've never replaced them.

I too weigh myself each morning,when my scales were broken a few years ago and I didn't weigh myself for about 6 months I went up a dress size!! but was in denial and wondered why the shops had all made their clothes a bit smaller?

I weigh myself most days. Ive done so for years. I stopped doing it for a while and gained over a stone. I've managed to lose most of that now but would still like another half stone off. Regular weighing keeps me accountable,

I wouldn't say I weigh myself every day but I certainly keep a check on my weight. I'd say I weigh myself about three times a week. This is enough to keep an eye on things without getting obsessed.

I weigh myself every day and record it in my diary. If I put on even a pound I cut back. I do like my biscuits and chocolate so its fairly easy to cut back. If I left it to once a week I might put on 7 lbs which is more difficult to lose than 1 lb. Forget about water making you a bit heavy. So long as you stay fit and healthy a bit of water is unimportant. I have lost 7 pounds slowly over lockdown.
