How often do you weigh yourself?

I do most mornings just to keep tabs, I don’t think I’d call myself obsessive and I don’t stress out if it’s gone up, it just keeps me on the straight and narrow.

Scales depress me, so I didn't replace them when they broke.

A few years ago I was told I was prediabetic which gave me a wake up call. I didn’t diet but cut down on carbs, especially bread and potatoes. I lost a bit of weight, about 1 stone but wasn’t v over weight, just top end of normal.

I have never regained that weight, and have not been in the prediabetic zone since. Weighing is now part of my daily routine when I clean my teeth, because I am aware how weight can creep on unawares.

I think if you can just lose 10% of body weight it makes a difference to health.

Hardly ever because they lie! I feel slim but the scales say FAT!

Never there is no point I keep fit being active each and every day I eat sensibly and don't over indulge. However my waistline has increased gradually over the years. Going on the scales is a no for me.

No it’s not good to be obsessed with weight and if lucky enough to be naturally slim then not even necessary perhaps. I have slim friends who eat things I never would yet they remain slim. A blessing for them.
In the past I have put on half a stone in a week, without overeating excessively. We are all different.

As others have said, weighing helps to focus and helps avoid weight creeping up , which it can do very quickly, but always takes a long time to shift.

I weigh myself every day and I am a doctor! If my weight goes up I try and eat a bit less or up my exercise. It works for me. I aim to keep under 9 and a half stone but I'm only short!

Hardly weigh myself - weighing yourself every morning is a bit obsessive, unless your Doctor has asked you to.

Whatever works for you is the way to go.
I find that my problem isn’t the weight…. It’s the distribution!
Because of the nature of my job I have seen lots of naked bodies and learnt early on that even thin people have saggy bits.

My thin Mum moans about her saggy wrinkly places, so you’re right.
My Nan who was stout all her life had very few wrinkles and a lovely ‘filled out’ face which made her look younger.

Every day as instructed by my cardiologist- if I gain more than 3lb in 48 hours then I have to notify my GP. as it’s an indication of fluid building up again. If ignored it starts backlogs into my lungs 🤷🏼‍♀️
It’s no big deal, only takes a few seconds and is reassuring to me.

Hardly ever, but am not overweight in any case. Our last scales stopped working and we never bothered to replace them.

At least every other day. If I hit 9st 6 then I know to ease back, I refuse to go over that. Usually waver between 9st 3 and 5.

It is the only way I can keep my weight stable. It is so easy to put on half a stone, and harder to lose it.

I remember going crazy when I hit 9 stone. ( years ago)
Don't think I'll be seeing a 9 any time soon.

keepcalmandcavachon Thu 27-Jun-24 08:48:38

I don't have scales, so nevergrin

Every week on average

Wheniwasyourage Thu 27-Jun-24 08:23:44

Every day as part of the routine. The weight was creeping up recently so a few weeks of being careful has brought it back down. Not obsessive, just careful!

Lovemylife Thu 27-Jun-24 08:22:30

When I remember, which isn’t very often. It’s more the weight distribution that bothers me- everything’s heading south.

I did have an app on my phone which connected to the scales but it disappeared and I never restored it. Looking at that became slightly obsessive so I don’t miss it.

Probably should cut out alcohol, but as OH is very poorly with anxiety, a glass of wine with dinner is one of life’s few pleasures at the moment.

Interesting! I am overweight and have been doing some compensatory eating to get through a tough time. Somebody "kindly" put my photo on fb and I thought " Who's that fat old woman with terrible posture and straggly hair?"

So I have made myself a chart and will be weighing myself weekly.

Marthjolly1 Thu 27-Jun-24 08:00:03

Every morning. It's not obsessive, just part of my routine. I put weight on very easily. I'm just in the right scale for my age, weight and height. I don't want to get any bigger, if I did, I know I would be miserable so I just keep a check. If I do put on a pound, I know I've been over indulging and reign it in.

chloe1984 Thu 27-Jun-24 07:59:12

Every morning without fail am I obsessive ? Yes I expect I am but it works for me

Ziggy62 Thu 27-Jun-24 07:58:56

Most days. I gave up alcohol 45 days ago lol. Was drinking every day,so decided to stop for my health and to help with weight.
Had lovely surprise this morning. Hadn't weighed myself since last week (daughter was visiting) and lost a few pounds at last. I'm at least 2 stone overweight and due to have knee replacement soon so need to reduce weight

silverlining48 Thu 27-Jun-24 07:52:55

That’s the worst thing you can do and only guarantees putting on more weight Allsorts.
I am still overweight and struggle to reduce further so know how hard it is but my intention is to ensure I don’t put on any more.
